the repeated sound lead doll back to the land of the living, her thoughts swirling endlessly in the murky blackness of her mind. she felt the sensors in her digits reactivate one by one as she acknowledged the oil stained photo clasped in her hand, brushing her thumb against its rough texture and glaring at the thing in the picture with hatred potent enough for you to assume the real thing was there in her very room.

right -- the fridge.

she raised her free hand and pointed it to the source of the noise, fingers sliding dexterously across the air in motions so familiar she didn't even have to look, and listened as the fridge was emptied of its contents and [edit] ed into its original state, the dripping subsiding entirely and the the dimmed lights flickering suddenly back to life. she allowed herself a tiny grin of satisfaction before placing the fridge's contents back in, slamming the door shut (but only after examining it once more just to be safe,) and turning back to more pressing matters.

V.

the oil-textured polaroid felt universes away as her eyes locked with her parent's killer. the indescribable rage bubbling just beneath her chassis -- it made her oil froth, so much so she could feel her own core pulse with the promise that it'd soon overheat. she supressed the nauseated feeling within her fuel tank as she had done so many times before and shoved the photo into her pocket, swaying unsteadily on her feet over to the refridgerator she had just repaired.

with steady hands, despite the trembling of the rest of her frame, she tore open the door and grabbed the first thing within reach, nearly breaking the fridge once more as she slammed it shut. she tilted her head back, reflexively turning off her taste receptors and closing her eyes, about to cool the dying star encased in her chassis when-

"ew." the familiar voice sounded a million miles away, distorted by her heat-warped sound-receptors, "girl, seriously... you need to clean in here, i had to step over like, a gazillion keybugs and dead bodies to get over he- oh, am i interrupting something?"

doll didn't bother greeting lizzy before finishing her meal, wiping a little oil off of her mouth ( dolly, come on. i know you don't give a damn about presentability but, like, oil? all over your face? people will be suspicious, girl .) and grinning, her too-sharp teeth poking out of her mouth at jagged and awkward angles and leading her to revert to her neutral expression rather quickly. lizzy's disgusted expression seemed entirely unrelated to doll's terrifying smile and the fact that she had just funneled oil into her mouth out of someone's severed arm -- rather her outfit. she had picked out the first thing she saw in her closet; one of mama's old green cardigans paired with a white (grey in some places with oil stains) shirt and skirt. doll couldn't supress the amusement that flashed across her visor as lizzy physically recoiled at the sight, a hand hovering over her mouth, face twisted in a grimace.

"[dramatic as ever, liz.]" doll snarked, arms crossing as she watched lizzy experience all five stages of grief several times over.

"prom, doll. PROM! robo-jesus - you are NOT showing up in those rags, come on." before she could protest, lizzy had already tugged doll through her apartment into her room, releasing her only to rifle through her closet with no regard for doll's okay on the matter -- but doll didn't care, so she didn't speak, choosing instead to monitor her internal temperature closely.

before she could finish reading her specs, she was jolted back to reality as lizzy tossed something at her, refusing to react even as the thing ( now recognizable as a dress, ) landed directly over her head. she twisted her digits to activate the solver and sent the dress directly back to lizzy, snickering as the drone let out a yelp from the other end of the room, scrabbling to untangle herself.

"you're gonna be wearing something nicer than that to prom, doll!" she whined, holding up the dress again, "come on, for me? pleeaase?"

doll chose to ignore the second half of the statement, instead lifting all of the other clothes lizzy had taken out into the air and sorting then back into their rightful places, shutting the door firmly afterwards.

"[not sure i want to wear anything that i don't want dirty.]" she stated, shrugging and glancing away as she noticed the way lizzy's shoulders slumped, "[if you like it that much, you could borrow it. i never wear it.]"

doll couldn't see her, but the preppiness never left lizzy's voice as she scoffed, "whatever -- if you're not wearing that dang thing when you show up i'll drag you back here and make you put it on!" doll glanced at lizzy through one of the only remaining mirrors in the room, watching with amusement as she flipped her bangs out of her visor and strut towards the exit, " never doubt my fashion advice, girl." she stated before finally leaving (albeit after a dramatic pause to allow her words to sink in,) the clack of her boots eventually fading into the constant humming of doll's several AC units.

doll stood eerily still for several more minutes, before turning her head slightly to examine the dress lizzy had left for her in all of its glory, strewn messily across her bed.

it was a shade of burgundy that subtly matched her eyes, and it was long sleeved and off the shoulder -- as she usually liked it. clothing with collars and shoulders caused her to overheat faster. lizzy had done her research, huh? she quickly swapped out her clothes, picking at the frayed edges of the sleeves in silence. it looked relatively nice, a little small and a bit too vibrant for her taste, but it had been one of her dresses before mama had-

she patted down the dress, thoughtlessly picking at the seams as she allowed herself some time to calm down.

but, as always, relaxation was a fickle reward she had yet to earn -- and most likely never would. she felt herself dip back into the seething rage roiling within her fuel tanks as she leaned back onto her bed, digits reflexively grasping for the polaroid in the pocket she didn't have. heat washed over her like a wave, causing her to jolt upright and tear into the pockets of her other skirt. the pulsing of her vibrant red visor reflected against the oil-encrusted photo as she pulled it out, faceplate curling in disgust at the awful entity in the photo grinning devilishly. in reflex, she raised her free hand, each weapon sharpened scrap of metal scattered about the room immediately bowing beneath her influence and blazing through the air, reducing the paper to shreds and leaving dozens of metal scraps embedded in her walls. she couldn't suppress her own grin as she watched the shreds flit about in the soft breeze flowing through her room. no matter, she had others -- that photo wasn't the only one her papa had taken before...

before V killed them.

she needed to die, DIE, DIE -- finally be brought to justice for all the lives she had taken, for doll's parents and the countless other lives V had snuffed without a moment's hesitation. disassembly drones were dangerous, the rest of her colony were fools for allowing themselves to forget what the monsters had done.

what she had done.
