Day 1
Prompt: “I don’t go caroling.” “Correction, you didn’t go caroling. You do now.”
Jim, Spock sighed. He stood outside his townhouse. Before he’d left for work at the academy, he knew there had been no holiday décor anywhere outside his residence. Nor inside him.
But now, his townhouse had lights galore and candy canes and reindeer all over the little bit of front lawn they had.
Cool, huh? His husband’s voice said in his head.
Spock went up the stairs to the house and unlocked the door, ignoring the large festive wreath that hung on it.
Inside, it appeared as though Christmas had thrown up. Spock toed off his boots and put them away near the door. He took off his light jacket as the weather had dipped down lower than normal for this time of year. He hung up the jacket then put his satchel near his boots on the floor.
“Jim.” Spock walked down the corridor leading from the foyer and slowly entered out into the of the townhouse. “Oh Surak.”
Lights and garland were strung everywhere. Reds and greens and golds galore of decorations. Candy canes and snowmen and nutcrackers and a large Christmas tree that smelled freshly cut.
“Welcome home, dear!” A cheery voice came from the kitchen.
“I was gone nine hours.” Spock turned and entered the kitchen off from the living room and found Jim in making cookies. They smelled wonderful. Jim looked quite domestic in Christmas sweater and an apron with gingerbread men.
Holiday décor littered around the kitchen as well. Spock did spot his mother’s Hanukkah menorah on the breakfast nook’s table. This year’s festival of lights started on Christmas day.
“I know,” Jim said. “I timed it so I knew I’d be done by the time you would get here. Looks nice, huh?” Jim hit him with that thousand-watt smile Spock was never able to resist.
“I thought we agreed to take it easy this year,” Spock said, approaching the kitchen island where Jim had cookies loud out on cooling racks. Spock reached for one only to get his hand slapped away.
“You said you wanted to take it easy,” Jim replied. “I never did. And you can have any cookie you want, after I portion them out in the tins to give out.”
“Are you giving them to the neighbors?”
“Yep.”
Spock reached for a cookie again only to have it slapped away again.
“After I have them sorted. We’ll give them to the neighbors when we go caroling tonight.”
Spock raised a brow. “I do not go caroling.”
“Correction,” Jim countered. “you didn’t go caroling. You do now.”
Spock opened his mouth but instead of words coming out, Jim shoved a sugar cookie in his mouth. Spock closed his mouth around the delicious concoction.
“We are grounded for a year before our new five-year mission starts, so you must suffer through my illogical holiday plans.”
Yes, t’hy’la.
Good boy. Go change into the sweater I bought you and then you can have another cookie.
Spock nodded and walked away, munching on the one he had. Jim loved the holidays and Spock loved Jim.
