It was Christmas day in Green Hill. Fluffy, bone-chilling snow delicately covered the green grass and palm trees. The wind howled along the starry night, making the entirety of Mobius a winter wonderland. Anyone staying outside in that sort of weather would've became as frozen as ice.
Luckily for all the others in Amy's house, that wouldn't be the case.
The pink hedgehog was near the kitchen, baking hundreds of cookies with her girlfriend, Blaze. The sweet smell of gingerbread spread throughout the house. In the living room carpet lay Silver, silently drinking hot cocoa by Shadow. Tails was busy showing Kitsunami some of his gadgets, and so on. Everyone was filled with Christmas spirit.
Meanwhile, Knuckles was by the food table, slowly drinking a cup of grape punch. He stared off into space absentmindedly, not aware of the blue blur sneaking up behind him. Sonic slowly crept up to the echidna, putting in every effort he could to not make a sound. Or getting caught.
"...BOO!!" The hedgehog shouted, suddenly grabbing onto the other's shoulders. Knuckles immediately spat out the drink.
"GOTCHA!! Oh, man.. You really should've seen the look on your face! Now THAT was priceless" Sonic said, while Knuckles simply frowned at the other.
"Argh.. Dammit, Sonic. It's Christmas Eve, not a second Halloween!" He sputtered out, trying to catch his breath. The blue blur laughed as hard as he could, repeatedly slamming the food table with his fist. He then wrapped his arm around Knuckles. "Whaaaat? Can't take a joke from your good ol' boyfriend? Haha!"
"If it involves my grape punch getting ruined, then I won't be taking any of it" The echidna replied, looking at his plastic cup. He noticed that a few drops of punch was still in it. Knuckles drank what was left of cup and tossed it to the side. Sonic used his other hand to hold the other's muzzle, and he gently turned it to face his direction.
Knuckles blushed as they made eye contact. "Uhh.. Sweetheart? Heh, why the sudden change in tone? You're seriously not gunna kiss me in front of everyone, right?" he said, nervously mustering a smile.
Sonic laughed once again. "Haha! You really are a Knucklehead... Look up."
"Huh? Whaddya mea..." Knuckles looked up to the ceiling, feeling confused. Until...
His eyes met with the dangling mistletoe from the ceiling.
"..I could've sworn that wasn't here earlier" The echidna muttered. Sonic quickly nodded in agreement.
"Well, however it got here, we're stilllll under the mistletoe, Knux! Y'know what that meaaaans!" Sonic said, gently pulling his boyfriend even closer to him while smirking. Knux's snout turned ten times redder than his own fur. It felt like all eyes were on the couple.
Well, quite literally.
Amy and Blaze looked at them while setting down the cookies, trying not to giggle at the two of them. Shadow gave Sonic a death stare while Silver simply facepalmed at him. Tails stared at his two friends, anticipating for something to happen, and Kit clung onto the other's arm silently. In fact, the whole room was nearly silent, until Tangle interrupted the "scene".
"C'mon, you guys! Just kiss already! We're all waaaaiting.. Plus, the more you two lovebirds wait, the more embarrassing it'll be!" She giggled, making fake kissing noises at the couple.
At this point, Knuckles resembled a tomato. He buried his face into Sonic's shoulder, trying to escape the embarrassment he already felt. Sonic pet his back while chuckling at Tangle, then turning back to Knuckles. He loosened his grip on his boyfriend, and whispered to him. "Heh.. Knux, you alright there? You're heatin' up faster than a chili dog!"
The echidna sighed. "..Sonic, dammit, can't we do this in private? I know it's a mistletoe n' all, but... Y'know that I hate public affection!"
Sonic did the same. "Oh, alright, alright! We can do this in private... since you're such a chicken." The hedgehog said the last part loud enough for only the other to hear, but Knux heard it loud and clear. He immediately got off of Sonic's shoulder and had an irritated look on his face.
"Whaddya just call me?? Repeat it for everyone else to hear. I dare you" he growled, gripping the blue blur by his shoulders. Any feelings of embarrassment he had left had turned into scalding rage. Sonic nervously chuckled at his boyfriend. "Y-Yeah.. yeah!! A chicken.. A big one!" He said, this time shouting it loud for everyone to hear.
"Oh, a chicken, eh? You callin' your boyfriend a chicken?? I'LL SHOW YOU WHO'S THE CHICKEN!!"
Knuckles's grip on Sonic tightened as he roughly pulled him into the kiss. Sonic's eyes widened in surprise, but he happily reciprocated the affection. The blue blur held the other's snout with his usual quick mannerisms.
Cheers immediately exploded throughout Amy's home. Shadow was the only one not to cheer - he seemed even more grossed out. Silver laughed at his expression and leaned on the other's shoulder. The lifeform's ears slightly went down in response.
The couple pulled away after a minute or so, and both of their tails were wagging. Sonic moved his hands to the echidna's chest, and they both chuckled slowly. "Wow, Knux.. Hah! Didn't know you had that in ya... Oh damn!" The hedgehog sputtered out, feeling more flustered than ever. "Yeah, yeah.. I never lose against ya. Who's the chicken now, eh?" He replied, giving out a hearty chuckle.
"Oh, come on! I woulda totally kissed you first! Buuuut.. I just had to give you a push."
Now both of them burst out laughing, and so did the rest of the mobians. Tails subtly flew to the couple and tackled them into a hug.
"Aw, you guys!!..BOTH of you are Knuckleheads!" Tails said, giggling uncontrollably.
Sonic hugged the two-tailed fox back tightly.
"Well, good thing us Knuckleheads made this Christmas special."
