Work Text:

After Ultron’s defeat, the world started rebuilding just as it had done many times before. Tony decided to help the remaining resistance since he heavily doubted anyone would want him in the limelight these days. However, the children of tomorrow have been the biggest in the rebuilding.

James and Francis have taken the main lead; one with the remaining resistance and the other with remaining heroes across the globe. Both have done a better job of bringing the world together than Tony would have.

Azari had returned to what remains of Wakanda to speak with his aunt; current Queen and Black Panther. The boy went on to train under Shuri before returning to the others to help continue the rebuilding with new insight and resources that could benefit them.

Pym has been knee-deep within the lab work right next to Tony and Bruce; the three of them have been removing any remaining metal that Ultron had placed down along with housing, food sources, and a thousand other projects that appear never-ending. Pym was the one that Tony had gotten to grow up much more than the others; being sixteen now while the rest of his siblings are young adults.

This leaves just Torunn who had proven herself time and time again but she always spoke about how she could be more useful if she was able to adventure to Asgard. Tony never stopped her and even pushed the idea slightly because Torunn should be able to learn about her own culture and who she is as a person and as a god. Torunn left when she was sixteen and returned only a month ago with the bridge being reopened by Thor.

Thor had found his way into Tony’s lab where the two were speaking about the old memories; funny and lighthearted, saving the worst memories for another time. Tony had found himself a nice quiet farmhouse to take over a while back with Bruce and Betty being the main ones tending to everything; the two have taken up farming and just living their lives now.

“You remember when Clint broke the clap lights?” Thor questioned, chuckling half-heartedly at the memory. “It was like a rave until you were able to fix it.”

Tony shakes his head – pulling away from his work before removing his goggles. “I remember because Steve called me and spoke in this tone that you know when you messed up.” Sometimes the good memories are just as sad as the bad ones. “Do you think they can see us wherever they are?”

"I like to think so.” Thor pats his knee and stands up. “I should return to Asgard before Sif comes to get me again, or before the boys cause too much trouble.”

“I’ll walk you out,” Tony said.

He struggles to stand and accepts the hand that Thor offers; taking the cane that Thor had grabbed from next to the desk. It’s one that Francis had made and showed off with pride that matched the way Clint used to look.

Tony states his thanks before the two head for the door.

Which opens to reveal Pym who was just about to knock.

“Surprise!” Pym said, motioning to the rest of Tony’s kids standing in the hallway. “We came for a sleepover!”

Tony chuckles; “oh, you did now?”

Each of his kids are in their pyjamas and waiting for Tony to come out. He knows that they also miss the days when they all go into the living room for the same story that Tony will always tell them. Francis was confused the first time that it happened but quickly joined in every time.

“We wanted to hear the story again,” James said. “If you are up for it?”

“Of course, I am.” Tony smacks Thor in the chest. “You should join us this time.”

“Oh, I don’t want to impose–”

Torunn quickly cuts her dad off. “Nonsense, everyone can hear this story.”

She looks very much like a young Asgardian woman and Tony couldn’t be any more proud of her; proud of all of them of the people that they have become. It’s hard not to look at the kids that he had raised and not see them as the children that they once were.

Thor does agree and they move downstairs.

Everyone had found their spots and Tony couldn’t help but tuck them into bed like they were the same children. He settles into the rocking chair and takes a moment to look out among his family, and for just a moment it’s almost like he can see the remaining Avengers standing around the room. Tony brushed his hand against the blanket on his lap before beginning his story once again.

“And then there came a day unlike any other…”

Notes:

I saw the prompt and thought of them. Probably not that great but I think it's okay.

Hopefully, you enjoyed and have a wonderful day/night!
