the man who put a blanket over my barbed wire

Summary:

Bree has thoughts.

Work Text:

“What if this is wrong? what if we shouldn’t get married?” Bree twisted the platinum ring around her finger, the glass of wine long abandoned on the nightstand.

“It’s not wrong, love. We’re not biologically related. Even if i kept you I probably wasn’t going to be the one directly raising you guys. You’re thinking too much. Plus I’m not a Davenport anymore, I’m Douglas Madden. Douglas Davenport is legall dead.” Douglas took Bree’s hands, splitting them apart from each other as he spoke.

“I wouldn’t have proposed to you without thinking it through. Donald may hate it, but he can’t do anything about it. In this universe, you are meant for me. I wouldn’t trade you for anything, even to be richer than Donald again.” Douglas continues, tangling his fingers in Bree’s.

Bree chuckled. “I guess all the romantic stories and taylor swift have one thing in common, you just have to find the one.”

She learned up to kiss Douglas untangling her hand to touch the scar on his face from Reese. “I would give up my superpowers for you if I had to.”

Douglas smiled softly. “I hope that never happens.”

Bree kissed Douglas again. “Whatever happens, we’re prepared. In this universe we are stronger together.”

Douglas pulled Bree into his lap, wrapping her arms around her. “I’ll tolerate it.” He grinned.

Bree lightly hit tapped Douglas on the shoulder. “You do more than tolerate it.” She laughed.

Douglas smirked, leaning in to kiss Bree’s neck. He held her close, peppering kisses down her collarbone. “I wouldn’t be doing this if I was just tolerating it.”

Bree moaned softly. “You always know just what I need.”

“It’s my job.” Douglas laid back on the bed. “Now lift that skirt up and sit on my face.”
