Oh my god.

Summary:

Oops! It seems An made the typical error of falling in love at the first glance, she can't even convince herself to look away at the new girl for even a second without wanting to scream.

Work Text:

Shiraishi An is a simple girl, one who had a point of her teenhood where she felt as if romance was nothing more than a comedic excuse for advertisers to sell their perfumes and cheap chocolates. She had witnessed the dating scene a few times, whether that ranged from leaning on a random partner's shoulder during a football game or stirring a tall cup of lemonade while some honors kid talks about some boring upcoming scientific hypothesis, she’s seen and heard it all.

She assumed there was just no hope for her, or perhaps not enough fish in the sea for her liking. But as it turns out, she may have just been looking at the wrong depths of the ocean.

This is where Azusawa Kohane comes in, a recent transfer in Kamiyama, who came from the girl’s academy across town.

An watched her pass by in the hallway, maintaining a warm, formal smile to everyone she passed. An felt her heart slightly flutter when the girl had done it to her, she couldn’t understand why, it was just a smile after all.

Even when she had arrived in her class, she felt a feeling of euphoria that never struck her prior to this, a feeling that made her want to get closer to Kohane.

She discussed this feeling with one of her good friends, Mizuki. She felt like she could trust them most with information like this.

“You’re head over heels, no doubt.” Mizuki snickered.

“Can..you give me another possibility?”

“Do I look like a fucking fortune teller? I know a lesbian when I see one, and as far as I’m aware, you can’t even look the same direction as a man without wanting to puke.”

An was a romantic in denial, she wanted to experience romance, but just simply didn’t believe in it. She saw her classmates being all lovey with each other, she couldn’t help but scoff at them, then contradicting herself as that blonde girl walked past her again.

“Yo Akito, can you get that girl’s number for me?”

“No, that’s fucking weird, just do it yourself.”

“I can’t, I’m on hall duty.”

“Then wait until you’re out of hall duty.”

“You’re no help..Toya can you get that girl’s number for me?”

“Yeah sure.” Toya replied, tapping the girl on the shoulders. “Shiraishi-san wants your number.”

Goddamnit Toya. An wanted to scream out, instead opting to cover her face out of pure embarrassment.

“Oh her? I’ll write it down for her!” The girl smiled, grabbing a notepad.

“Thanks.” Toya replied.

“I guess in a way you still won.” Akito said, holding back a fit of laughter.

“I’m gonna go insane.” An grumbled to herself.

Following that day, they began interacting for the first few nights outside small hall interactions and occasional classroom talk. Upon talking, they found that they agreed on a ton of niche interests and hobbies, one large example was their separate passions in music, Kohane sticking to more of the pop genre whereas An was more into street type music.

An would stare at that phone like a madwoman every single night, grinding her teeth as she watched Kohane’s chat box go in and out during her longer messages. It became a regular routine, something to look forward to.

She soon realized that she in fact did allow that rush of feelings to take over her, she shouldn’t even be trying to connect with the new girl as much as she actually is, it made her cringe midway through conversation. Despite that, she still couldn’t help but immediately fall back into that pattern, almost as if she was pulled in with every word that Kohane spoke, every warm smile that she gives away, her warm hugs at the end of the rough school days, it’s a struggle to keep An from falling in love.

“An-chan!~ Do you want to hang out at my house later tonight? My parents won’t be home.” Kohane jumped up following the final period bell ringing.

“Y-Your h-house..alone..you and me…”

“Yeah? I mean if you don’t want to then that’s completely fi-”

“I-I’d love to come over–!” An grinned, feeling her heart leaping out of her chest as she replied.

“Perfect! I’ll text you the address!” Kohane smiled, waving her phone around as she turned to exit the classroom, leaving An alone to evaluate her decisions.

“Oh…I’m gonna be alone with her..god I can barely handle being around her as is…but her house!?” An talked to herself, slowly beginning to realize the rabbit hole that she had accidentally dug herself into.

“Yo An, I was thinking of heading to the mall, do you wanna coooo-” Mizuki paused, looking over at the shivering girl who was sitting at her desk.

“I know that look..is it a date? Is it with the cute little girl?” They questioned, scooting themself closer to An.

“Her house. Her parents aren’t going to be home.” An mentioned, practically shivering at the last part.

“Oh shit, you two didn’t even have dinner yet–!?” Mizuki snickered.

“It’s not gonna be like that, we’re just friends.”

“Yeah and I’m a wall.”

“...What does that even mean?”

“It’s called sarcasm, you dumbass.”

“...Whatever.”

-

The pattern only continued from there, An swung her bedroom door open in a panic, throwing all of her clothes onto her bed as she frantically picked a clothing item with Kohane in mind.

“Kohane would like this..right? Right.” An froze, dropping the dress onto the ground as she quickly realized what she was doing.

“Wait..why am I picking what she likes? I’m not trying to impress her–!” She scoffed to herself, picking up a pair of jeans before looking back down on the dress that laid on the floor. “Oh my god-”

-

She ended up wearing that dress, soon knocking at Kohane’s door at the exact time they had planned together.

Kohane slightly cracked open the door to look at An, staring in awe at her.

“I-Is something wrong?” An uttered out.

“No..not at all, you look beautiful.” Kohane smiled, signaling for An to come inside.

Throughout her entire visit, she couldn’t help but drown herself in Kohane’s scents, her beauty, her aura, it fed right into An as she attempted to fight back the urge to lean closer to Kohane. The denial of her feelings was eating through her and she felt as if she was about to explode.

“I just wanted to thank you for coming, it was gonna be a long night if you didn’t show up!” Kohane giggled, sitting down on the couch beside An.

“Of course! Anytime!” An lied, she was hoping it’d be the very last time, she couldn’t take all the emotions that were being thrown at her all at once, simply gulping at the sight of Kohane being so close to her.

They sat down, watching basic teen oriented romantic comedies, An felt the overwhelming feeling drown her as Kohane leaned onto her shoulder, this felt different from the other “dates” that she has gone on, she felt as if she was enjoying her time but not in the friendly way that she should of, but more of a romantic way.

An attempted to wipe out those feelings, shaking her head aggressively as she got the sudden urge to stroke Kohane’s hair, or to wrap her arms around Kohane as they watched the really close scenes of the show.

She soon decided to zone out on the television, ignoring any sudden movements from Kohane’s end.

Get out of my head, get out of my head..it's not working!!!.. That’s what An repeated to herself as Kohane kept popping back into mind, soon snapping her back into the reality, seeing that Kohane had actually been the first to make the typical television romance move of wrapping her arms around An.

An couldn’t find any words, instead opting to slowly turn to the other girl in pure shock.

“Mmmh, this show is kind of boring, what do you think An-cha–” An couldn’t even properly think any longer, the only things she can formulate was the distance between her and Kohane, and the endless list of possibilities that she had at this moment, the euphoria quickly rushed back into her body, beyond recognition, and she didn’t even try to fight it off.

“An-chan?”

“Can we kiss?” An accidently uttered out, slapping her hand onto her mouth as she watched Kohane’s facial expression change to pure shock.

“W-What? I mean..I..wouldn’t mind..?”

What the actual fuck. An eternally screamed inside of her head, feeling as if she lost full control of her body as she caressed Kohane’s cheek and leaning forward to Kohane.

Just as their lips were going to touch, the doorbell had rung, causing the two of them to practically jump onto each other.

Then their parents came in. Oh.

“Hey kiddo I’m ho…..me.” Her dad paused, staring at the scene that was played before his eyes.

“U-Uhm..hey dad!” Kohane shouted, slowly releasing An from her grip.

“So uh…is this your date or something..? Your mother and I could go back to the store if anything..”

“Actually yeah about that, I think I should go uhm..walk my dog.”

“It’s night and you don’t have a dog.” Kohane frowned.

Ah right..my..stray cat–!” An laughed, slowly backing up to the front door.

“At least let me say my goodbyes at the door!” Kohane yelled out, quickly standing up.

The two of them stepped out the door, closing it so Kohane’s parents were unable to hear the conversation.

“Aha..sorry about..making things awkward with your dad..”

“No worries..look..I had a great time with you tonight.” Kohane smiled.

“Yeah me too..I’ll see you next time then?”

“Oh yeah definitely–! And before I forget!~” Kohane said, reaching out for An’s hand, which she hesitantly returned.

“Your goodbye kiss!”

“My what now?” Before An could say anything further, Kohane leaned onto An’s lips, gently lifting her head up as they both returned the kiss. It was brief in the time of the universe, and to Kohane. However, that kiss might as well have been some sort of fever dream for An, as she completely lost her composure as she slipped into a dreamlike state as Kohane released her lips from her own.

“Aha..ha…”

“Is everything okay, An-chan?” Kohane questioned, still holding onto the girl’s chin.

“Yeah..I just think I need to lay down..forever.” An replied, practically stumbling down the staircase of the front porch.

“Ah well..hopefully forever doesn’t include next week–! I got a dinner reservation!”

“I don’t think I heard that right..just text that to me later.” An strongly blinked, walking along the steps of Kohane’s driveway.
