Minjeong’s used to it. The random invitations to places she’s never been to nor had the interest in going to, but since they were always from Jimin, she felt more inclined to join the older girl in her shenanigans.
“Where are we going today?”
Jimin’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “It’s a secret. I’ve rented the space out for just the two of us.”
Minjeong quirks an eyebrow. “Oh? Why would you do that?” She misses the blush on Jimin’s cheeks, the taller girl ducking her head in slight embarrassment.
“You’ll see why.”
They travel to their destination on foot, as they always do, and Minjeong stops in her tracks once they reach the entrance. “A whiskey bar?!” Jimin puffs her chest, clearly impressed with herself.
Once they get to the bar, a lone bartender greets them with a professional smile. Jimin smoothly orders them two glasses of the establishment’s finest whiskey.
“Why wouldn’t you bring Ning here? She loves this stuff.” Minjeong grimaces after one gulp of the brown liquid.
Jimin thinks Minjeong could be the most oblivious person in the world sometimes.
The bartender disappears to the back to give them their privacy. Jimin inches her hand towards Minjeong’s, instinctually interlacing their fingers. It’s so second nature to them that it doesn’t even catch the younger girl’s attention.
“I have to tell you something.”
Minjeong doesn’t even drink, but she’s sitting here with Jimin at a whiskey bar that she reserved for them, sipping on alcohol that she oddly didn’t dislike completely.
“What is it?”
It’s then that Minjeong notices their interlocked hands. Her gaze slowly moves from their hands up to Jimin’s sharp stare. She gulps at the intensity.
“I don’t want to keep running, Minjeong.”
The air around them stills. Minjeong could hear her heart start to pound in her ears, and she knew it couldn’t be from the alcohol hitting that quickly.
“W-What do you mean?”
“It means that I want to be with you.” Jimin puts it simply, even though it was anything but.
Minjeong sinks into her seat. How could she keep this act up forever? It pained her to pretend like she wasn’t utterly in love with Jimin. “It’ll be hard, though—“ Her voice comes out small and she can’t seem to look the other girl in the eye.
Jimin shoots up from her seat, eyes gleaming with hope. “So, are you willing to give us a try?”
Kim Minjeong isn’t used to it, the way her heart soars, free from having to beat down how she truly feels for Yu Jimin.
The corner of her lips twitch upward. A smile. “Yes.”
