“What the fuck is that?” Keisuke laughs as he observes the absolutely abysmal display that Takumi called a ‘wrapped present’. In other words, the brunette has attempted to wrap the present, got confused and slightly pissed off, and has decided to just sellotape the paper as best he can.
"What's wrong with it?” Takumi laughs.
“Look at it! It's a disaster!"
“It’s secure.”
“It’s shit!” They both laugh at this, tears now gathering in Keisuke’s eyes.
“I never learned! We never did presents in my house.” Takumi continues to laugh.
“It’s basic dexterity! You fold the paper carefully and tape it down."
“I dont know what righty tighty, lefty loosey means; what makes you think that I can fold AND tape paper at the same time?" The couple burst into uproarous laughter again, having to lean on each other so they don’t fall backwards on the living room floor they’re currently sat on. It was the first Christmas the couple spent together in their own house. They had decorated their small living room with a small tree and had some quiet Christmas music playing from their CD player they had in the corner of the room as they wrapped the presents they brought for their families - mainly the Keisukes family, as Takumi only has his father.
It takes a good few minutes for the couple to calm down and regain their breath. “Shit, my sides hurt. Okay, watch what I do and copy that.” Keisuke smiles. “So, cut the paper the same size as mine.” The blonde demonstrates, cutting a near-square piece off the roll. Takumi does the same, pushing his hair out of his face as it falls in front of his eyes. “Eh, good enough. Place the box in the middle of the paper.”
“I can't believe you have to give me a step-by-step on how to wrap a fucking present. Im 23 for Christ sake.” The brunette giggles, copying what his boyfriend does. “You’re never going to let me live this down, are you?”
“Never.” Keisuke chuckles. “Okay, now take one side and fold it over and do the same with the other side, and tape them together.” The blonde instructs with practiced ease. Takumi follows what he says and does. “It’s wonky! No, you don't need that much tape, Jesus.” Keisuke exhasperates, and Takumi laughs at his boyfriend's reaction. “Okay, we’ll roll with it. Now rotate it so the open side is facing you, and push one side in. Now do the same. Eh, that will do. Okay, now fold the top triangle down.”
“I don't have enough hands for this! What do you mean?” Takumi laughs.
“Just copy what I do. Now, fold the top one over and tape it.”
“This is so confusing!” The younger male laughs.
“Oh my god, you’re completely hopeless!” Keisuke exclaims, exhasperated, laughing again as Takumi attempts to tape the paper but lets go of the folds, and they undo themselves.
“How did you learn this?"
“Ryosuke taught me when I was like 6. He’s like the master at this shit."
“Is there anything he can’t do?”
“Talk to women.” Both males burst out laughing again, falling backwards onto their floor.
Once again, it takes them a few minutes to calm down from their fit of laughter, sitting up as they take laboured breaths so their fit of hysterics doesn't hinder their progress anymore. “Christ, this is the best ab workout I’ve ever had. If I’m not ripped after all this hilarity, I’m suing.” Keisuke smiles, pushing his bangs out of his face. Keisuke had started to grow his hair out slightly, still keeping it bleached, of course, and it was now at an awkward length where his bangs were always in his eyes but not long enough to be pushed behind his ears.
“And who would you sue?"
“I dunno, God?"
“Tell me, why was waiting until Christmas Eve' is 'such a good idea’?” Takumi turns to glare at his boyfriend.
“This is when I’ve always done it! Don’t start accusing me; you’re the reason why we haven't made any progress!” Keisuke accuses, a smile still on his face.
“Me?!” Takumi is near enough to squeak.
“Yes, you and your complete lack of basic human skills.”
“You can’t cook! I think that’s more of a basic human skill than wrapping and taping paper around a box.”
“This isn’t about me!” Keisuke pouts, and Takumi laughs at his reaction.
“That’s a first.”
“Excuse you!” The blonde gasps. “That’s it, Fujiwara; you have 5 seconds to apologise before I wrap you up like a fucking present and return you to your father."
“You wouldn't return me; you’d starve to death."
“Would not, I’d get takeout!”
“Would too!”
“Would not!”
“Would too!”
“I have an older brother who loves an argument; I can do this all day.” They stared at each other for a solid second before laughing again. Ryousuke often comments about how they spend more time arguing and bickering than they do being an actual loving couple, and Keisuke thinks that if his older brother were here at this moment, he would be commenting on that fact once again.
“Okay, seriously, we need to get these presents wrapped.” The older male comments, turning his gaze back to the pile of unwrapped boxes.
“Can’t you just do it?" Takumi whines, earning a glare from his boyfriend.
“No, I can’t. Move your ass and get this shit wrapped.”
“But you’re just going to laugh at me again!"
“You’re damn right, I am.” Keisuke smirks, writing a label for the box he’s just wrapped and attaching it.
“Whatever happened to putting it in a gift bag and calling it a day..." Takumi huffs and turns his attention to his failure of a wrap job he started before under the blondes instructions. He takes the mangled paper off and cuts himself a new piece, starting once again, carefully following the instructions Keisuke demonstrated before.
Keisuke places the complete present to one side, reaching out to grab another. He leans over to grab the roll of paper, eyes catching a glimpse of his boyfriend as he carefully and badly wraps the box the way the blonde taught him, mouth in a straight line and eyebrows furrowed as he concentrates. Keisuke can’t help but stare. This. This is right now. This is perfect. A few years ago, he was feral, running the streets of Tokyo and literally fighting to stay alive. Now he's here, wrapping presents for his family with his gorgeous boyfriend, both wearing horrific Christmas jumpers they brought each other, in his own house that was decorated for the festive season, music quietly filling the air, and love surrounding him. He just wants to relish this moment forever. He’s never been happier.
