Work Text:
Silvers Rayleigh a name everyone feared. It was a name that went down in history. A name that was written in so many books to the point that the man was legendary. It was the name of the vice-captain of the Roger pirates.
The name of the man kneeling before me.
"Ray, how many times do I have to tell you to behave in public? If you're going to come out with me at least try not to pickpocket."
I looked down at him staring at the top of his blonde head. His hands pressed against his lap head hanging low.
"I'm sorry shakky."
He looked up staring staring me with apologetic eyes. I pinched the bridge of my nose lips pursed together in a frown. I looked around people were staring and whispering 'Is that Silvers Rayleigh'. 'That pirate is getting what he deserves.' 'Should we call the marines?'
"Get up."
He stood up quickly dusting off his pants with a grin.
"Are you forgiving me?"
I smacked his hand away.
"No."
I grabbed his arm pulling him into a nearby clothing shop. I sped past the isles of clothing and pushed him into a changing room quickly following him in.
"I didn't think you'd be that bold."
I shook my head.
"Rayleigh get your mind back on track. You shouldn't be doing such things in public. I know you're an ex-pirate but we're retired now, Ray."
He chuckled.
"I guess old habits die hard. But even if I didn't do anything I'd still get recognized by my face."
I smiled reaching up and fixing his collar. I couldn't blame him his face was everywhere.
"You're right and I can't be mad at that. Just don't steal from any more civilians. Pirates are okay."
He leaned in pressing a kiss to my cheek.
"I'll keep that in mind dear. Now let's say we get out of here before the staff barges in."
I quirked a brow when he wrapped his arms around me pulling me against his chest and resting his head against my shoulder.
"But before that, I want to take a minute to be with you. I can't go around touching you in public with everyone staring."
I pulled his hair back turning my head and pressing a kiss to his temple. I brushed my fingers through his hair one hand on his waist. He hummed a soft tune into my neck pressing ticklish kisses to my skin. I leaned back taking his face in my hands and pressing a kiss to his nose. His smile made my heart skip a beat I felt like I had years ago. The feeling of being hopelessly in love with this man. I slid his glasses off his face and pressed kisses to his eyelids.
"Just a few more."
I placed kisses on every corner of his face that my lips could touch. Lastly, I pressed a kiss to his lips that lasted a few seconds. I slid his glasses back onto his face and pulled him out of the dressing room and out of the shop back into the streets.
The stares weren't as noticeable as before but the whispers sure travelled. I didn't mind it they could talk all they wanted. I eyed a small shop for rings. They were all so pretty but only one caught her eye. The band was a beautiful silver with a pink diamond shaped like a peony. It brought a source of longing to her heart something she hadn't had in a while.
"Do you want it?"
The gentle voice interrupted me from her thoughts. I shook my head with a small smile.
"No. I don't need it."
I looked away from the display case and continued my walk. The many shops and people seemed to be normal. There were no more whispers or glances. Even the marines I spotted just ran past me. I knew something was up when I didn't see Rayleigh behind me or anywhere.
I walked around silently searching looking in shops I had passed on the way but I had no luck. Even the jewelry shop clerks said they hadn't seen him. When mentioned they just smiled and told me to check the plaza near the water fountain. I left the store continuing my walk down to the plaza.
When I saw the water fountain my feet were already sore. I sat down on the edge of it looking back into the water looking at the coins and my reflection. The water was beautiful as it glittered in the setting sun. It made me think of hatchan and what he was doing right now. He was probably back on Fishman Island playing with his friends.
A sound of footsteps caught my ears and the whispers started up again. A shadow looked over me and I looked up at a grinning man. He had a familiar scar across his eye.
"Rayleigh."
Just as quickly as he was in front of me, he was kneeling before me on one knee. The whispers all seemed to stop. Maybe everyone had all stopped talking or maybe I was so focused on him that I couldn't hear anything. I watched all his movements as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black box. I felt like there was a lump in my throat. He opened the small box revealing a small ring with a silver band and, a pink diamond that was shaped like a peony.
"Shakky will you marry me?"
One tear fell from my face then it was followed by another till all I could do was cry. I buried my face in my hands and nodded.
"Yes!"
Applause broke out with a few cheers.
"Let me see you."
My hands were pulled from my face and the ring was slipped on my left ring finger. I tilted my head down tears welling up in my eyes as I looked at it. I brought my hand up to rub my eye but was stopped. Gently he took my face in his hands running his thumbs under my eyes and wiping away my tears. He stared at me with so much love and adoration it made my heart feel sick like I was in love again. I was in love and he was the man I loved.
"Shakky can I kiss you?"
I smiled.
"Everyone is looking."
He chuckled.
"I don't mind."
I nodded resting my hand against his.
"Then kiss me."
He took my lips in a sweet short kiss pulling me into his arms. Everyone applauded again but I wasn't paying attention to them. He broke away from the kiss picking me up bridal style as the marines finally came hearing that 'Silvers Rayleigh' was here.
"Silvers Rayleigh we are here to arrest you-"
Before they could get another word out we had both already left. He ran through the streets back to Grove 13 where we continued our celebration in the comfort of my bar and our home.
