Ena's house is warm.
That's always Mafuyu's first thought when entering her house. He assumes it may be because of the warm colored walls or floor. Even so, there's also some type of...energy? within the house. It's welcoming, almost.
"Mizuki! you can't just touch everything in my room?!—"
Almost.
But at the very least, it gets even warmer when the entirety of Niigo is there too.
Mizuki is skipping to Ena's room with a mischievous expression, while Ena is following them right behind, already reading their mind. Meanwhile, he and Kanade stay behind, not bothering to hurry to follow them. Still, Kanade has a permanent soft smile on her face.
Mafuyu decides to ask her about it. And Kanade eyes soften ever so slightly, "The atmosphere feels lighter." she says, eyes traveling to take in every small detail from the house.
"Hm..." Mafuyu hums, deep in thought. It's not a secret that each member of the group has a different way to explain their feelings, Kanade tends to label how she feels about things as weight, Ena as light and Mizuki as colors.
If they asked him that way, he would probably say that right now he feels light, clear and pink.
He nods, agreeing with Kanade. "It's warm." he ends up saying instead. Kanade smiles at him.
Finally reaching Ena's room. They knock on the half opened door, making their presence known before entering.
Mafuyu's slight curiosity over the brief silence dies down the moment he spots his two partners kissing on the floor.
Kanade chuckles quietly at the way his expression turns deadpan right away.
"Gross."
Kanade's chuckling turns into quiet giggles.
Ena's eyes widen, she shoves Mizuki away in a quick motion. "Err..." she clears her throat. "Mizuki and I were just..." her eyes find a few plushies on the floor. "...looking at these little guys!" she gestures the plushies.
Mizuki giggles, eyes glistening with amusement. "Yeah! that's right~ Look how cute they are~♪" they grab one of the plushies, a lavender purple bunny, and throws it at Mafuyu.
Mafuyu takes a step back to easily grab the plush. He takes a look at the bunny, it's well...round shaped, although it was probably made that way intentionally. It does have a cutesy vibe to it, he admits. His fingers move to graze against its softness, it's nice...
Kanade hums, peering at the big amount of plushies that are scattered around the room. "Are these the plushies you use for your selfies?" she asks, tilting her head.
Ena nods, embarrassed. "Yeah. Huh, all of you actually look at that account?" she looks away at the moment Mizuki and Kanade start nodding, her cheeks turn red.
Mizuki grins, "Hehe~ Toya-Kun is the one that gifts you these plushies, right?"
Mafuyu begins to pet the bunny plushie's ears. Soft. Warm.
Ena nods. "Yes. He wins a lot of them as prizes, and they make a good background for cute selfies." she explains softly, although that quickly changes as she glares at Mizuki's expression. "What?"
Mizuki giggles, "Uhuhuh, I was just thinking that you don't need plushies to take a cute selfie..." at Ena's raised eyebrow, they shoot her a wink. "You only need a cutie like you~" they make a kissy face.
"..." Ena looks at them both horrified and somehow flustered. "That was disgusting." she shakes her head disapprovingly.
"Mizuki is right though. You're really cute and pretty." Kanade softly smiles at the both of them. Making Ena giggle nervously. Mizuki grins triumphally.
Kanade turns around to look at Mafuyu. "What do you think, Mafuyu?"
Mafuyu's previously unfocused eyes widen at being suddenly addressed. "E-eh?" he mumbles dumbly, he wasn't paying attention to anything more than the bunny plush on his arms. What were they even talking about...? "...w-what?" he answers Kanade's question with a question.
Kanade and Mizuki look at him with concern on their faces. Meanwhile Ena chuckles, "Heh, you weren't hearing a thing, were you?" she shakes her head affectionately. She glances at the plush on her boyfriend's arms. "Huh. You also didn't stop holding it already? here, let me have it for a sec." she walks closer to reach the bunny plush.
No! Mafuyu brings the bunny closer to him, cradling it. He shakes his head profusely, taking a step back.
Ena stops immediately, dropping her hand. Mizuki and Kanade look at him with surprised expressions. That was a big reaction, for him, at least.
Mafuyu takes another step back. She can't take it away again!
After a few steps, he ends up hitting a wall. "Oof." his partners hiss as he winces. He slides down to the floor, a few tears start to form on his eyes as he clutches his head with one hand, the other one remains holding the plushie.
Ena blinks, processing the situation. "Huh?" she tilts her head in disbelief, then she sighs. "Okay okay...don't give it to me then." she holds her arms up, surrendering.
Mafuyu's glare softens a little.
Kanade looks at him quizzically. "Is he okay?" she asks, eyeing the way he's cradling the plush.
Mizuki, who was previously uncharacteristically quiet, hums in thought. "I don't know. Let me try something." their tone is serious for once. They grab one of the plushies, a pink cat, and move closer to Mafuyu.
They grin. "Hi~♪" Mizuki makes the cat wave their hands (paws?). "I was just wondering if Bunny wanted to play with me!" Mizuki, no, the Kitty, says.
Ena looks at them with confusion. "What are you doing??" she questions. Mizuki doesn't respond verbally, but they wink and stick out their tongue.
Mafuyu's eyes widen. He tilts his head, switching between looking at Mizuki and the cat plushie, then looking at the bunny plushie. He opens his mouth to answer, but no sound comes out. A bit frustrated, he decides to just make the bunny nod their head.
Mizuki grin gets wider. "Yay! I'm so glad~♪" the cat dances around happily. Mizuki looks up to find their boyfriend's gaze completely transfixed on the plushies. Their smile softens, "Mhm...is Bunny a silent bunny?" they ask gently.
Mafuyu looks away, embarrassed. But Bunny nods once again.
Kanade's confused expression is now replaced by an amazed one. A small smile on her lips as she looks at her partners. Ena looks like she wants to ask some questions, but decides to just see what happens.
Kitty shakes their head. "That's fine! after all~..." they giggle mischievously. "Kitty wants to play house with Bunny~♪" Mizuki says in a singsong voice.
Bunny doesn't say anything, but shakes its head.
Mizuki gasps. "What?! what do you mean Bunny would prefer playing house with Miss Hedgehog rather than Kitty?!" they frown in mock offense.
Mafuyu chuckles quietly. "Mhm hm!" Bunny shakes its head in an affirmative manner.
Mizuki giggles. "Okay okay! let me call her then~♪" Kitty walks closer to Ena. Mizuki scoots closer too, they lean to whisper in her ear. "Enanan...can you pretty please play along?~" they put on their best puppy (kitty?) eyes.
Ena squeaks at being suddenly talked to. She looks at Mizuki, lost. "What do I have to do?" she asks, even if she has an idea. Then she recalls what Mizuki said, "And why do I have to be an hedgehog?" the artist grumbles, Mizuki just responds with "Trust me!" making Ena roll her eyes, but she walks to the plushie pile.
Kanade giggles, apparently having been paying an extreme amount of attention.
"It's so...silly." Ena whispers under her breath at the rounded hedgehog plushie. She takes a deep breath and pulls her big sister voice (who she uses only when trying to get Akito to get her cheesecake). "I'm here! Kitty, what do you need me for?" the Hedgehog walks to where Kitty and Bunny are.
Mizuki smiles at the way Ena quickly got in character. Kitty chuckles, "Well! Bunny over here-" Kitty moves their paw to point at Bunny. "-Wants to play house with you! isn't that true, Bunny?"
Ena grins proudly. "Of course Bunny wants to play with Miss Hedgehog. I'm the best hedgehog in this place! Of course you would prefer me over Kitty" Miss Hedgehog stands tall, well, as tall as a hedgehog can.
Mafuyu stays silent for a while, a playful glint on his eyes. He makes Bunny do a thinking motion for a few seconds, then shake its head.
Ena's eyes widen in disbelief. "Hah?! what does Bunny mean?!" Miss hedgehog demands.
Mizuki laughs at Ena's disappointment. "Hehe. Looks like Bunny had to think it through." Mizuki teases, causing Ena to glare at them. "What do you think Bunny? wanna play with Miss Hedgehog?"
Bunny shakes its head and turns around to face away from them. "Nuh-uh!" Mafuyu mumbles, a hint of a smile on his lips.
Ena looks utterly heartbroken.
"Aw shucks." Kitty laments, "You don't want to play with any of us?"
Mafuyu opens his mouth once again, but no sound comes out.
Kanade makes her presence known. "What about me?" she makes a dog plushie tilt its head. "Puppy would like to play with Bunny. If Bunny also wants to." Kanade smiles gently at Mafuyu.
Bunny nods profusely. Causing Ena and Mizuki to look at Mafuyu with exasperation. Kanade giggles at their reactions.
"So you choose Puppy?" Kitty asks at the same time Miss Hedgehog grumbles "Favoritism."
Bunny shakes its head once again.
"Huh?" "Hah?" "Eh?" The three of them tilt their heads in confusion.
Mafuyu clears his throat, forcing sound to come out. "Er...All. No choice..." he mumbles, almost inaudibly.
Kanade takes a second to think, then she smiles. "Ah...Bunny doesn't want to have to choose, it seems." Puppy hypothesizes, smile getting impossibly softer when Bunny nods its head.
Ena huffs amusedly. "Of course."
Mizuki giggles. "Of course!~ that's the type of person Bunny is, right? How sweet~♪" Mizuki makes the plushies awkwardly hug. Mafuyu chuckles at the sight.
A thought occurs to him. He bites his lip, a bit embarrassed. "Mi...zu...?" he manages to breath out. Mizuki immediately perks up.
They smile gently. "Hello Mafufu~♪ what is it?" Mizuki asks, patiently waiting for him to respond.
He looks away, glancing once again at the plushies. They're now forgotten, since everyone's eyes are fixed on him. He mumbles something, but Mizuki couldn't hear him.
"What was that, Mafu? I didn't catch it." they giggle apologetically.
He sighs and points at the plushies hugging, then points at Mizuki and himself. Ah. The message is clear.
Mizuki grins, satisfied. "Ah I see~♪" they coo, they sit more comfortably, then pat their lap. "Come here then~" they open their arms with a big smile on their lips.
Mafuyu's previous hesitancy fades away as he crawls into Mizuki's arms. Immediately sighing, enjoying the warmth of his partner's embrace.
Mizuki has to force themselves to not squeal at the action. Instead they chuckle but disguise it as a hum. Oh! an idea forms in their brain and they smile. They start humming a melody, hand hesitantly travelling to play with Mafuyu's hair. Mafuyu melts deeper into the hug. After a few minutes of humming, they notice that Mafuyu's breathing evened out. They pump their unused fist in the air, whispering a small "Yay!" while being careful not to wake up the sleeping boy.
Mizuki looks to a side and finds Kanade and Ena looking at the both of them with unreadable expressions. They suddenly feel a little self conscious about the whole situation, but Kanade and Ena would never say anything bad about Mafuyu, would they?
Instead, Ena tilts her head. "How did you do that?" she ends up asking, her tone doesn't hold any judgement, just curiosity.
Now that they notice, Kanade also holds the same type of curiosity on her gaze.
They breath in relief. "What do you mean? you need to be more specific Enanan~" they can't help but tease her anyways, the serious face she has always makes them a little nervous.
Ena shakes her head, expression briefly souring. But she asks one again, "I meant the whole situation. Did you do that before?" her mind tries to remember any similar situation, but ends up finding none.
"Yeah. You looked like you did it before." Kanade quips. Scanning Mafuyu and Mizuki, thinking that maybe she missed something.
Mizuki giggles at the question. "Ahh did I really look that expertly to make you think I did it before?" they ask with amusement, but their eyes soften a little. "But yeah. Not with Mafuyu though, but a friend of mine." they answer, humming deep in thought. "Huh. Maybe I am an expert then." they smirk, the change of their tone making Ena roll her eyes.
Kanade nods, taking all the bits of information for later. But now, she decides to fix her gaze on Mafuyu. She smiles, "He looks so... carefree, for once."
Ena hums and takes a look at him too. "You're right. It's nice to see him like that." her tone becomes soft. "But." she starts, "But he looked really stressed at the beginning. We should talk about it later." she reminds them. Mizuki and Kanade nod as they recall the moment. Although Mizuki had to avoid teasing Ena with 'oh wow, you're totally nailing the stern but caring cg'
Mizuki hums instead. "Later."
They end up talking for a little while, then decide to call it a day and follow Mafuyu's actions; sleeping early for a change.
Mafuyu ends up waking up completely disoriented, then embarrassed as he remembers what happened before. What even was that? what matters to him though, is the comfortable feeling on warm on his chest.
