If there was one word that best describes the Tenma family, it would have to be "extra." That's the best explanation Toya could give as to why Tsukasa was currently on the roof of their house while Saki supported the lights from the ground as he tried to secure them up there. He shook his head in disbelief at Tsukasa's... daring. At least, there was certainly no way he would be able to do that.
So far, the other two seemed to have a pretty good system for decorating together. Nothing (and no one, thankfully) had fallen down yet, and the house was looking quite festive. While the other two were busy, Toya had been given the task of smaller decorations, which were, to his immense gratitude, much closer to the ground. He had already put a wreath on their door, along with festive stickers and decals on all of the windows and a few smaller strings of lights inside. Now, he was just watching the process for the lights in awe. His family never really did much decorating, but he was not at all surprised to learn that the Tenmas were much, much different.
It's nice, he decided.
Tsukasa spotted Toya and waved down to him. "Hey!! You all done with your decorating?" Tsukasa called out. It was no surprise that Tsukasa's voice could be heard from the ground, but Toya was not nearly as used to talking at the volume that Tsukasa would, so he just responded with a thumbs up.
"Perfect! Could you run in and grab us an extension cord? I don't think this cord will be long enough," Saki asked at a much more reasonable volume; she was stood on the floor, having been given the job of holding the lights and passing them up to Tsukasa. Toya nodded, and swiftly reentered the house to look for what hr was asked to get.
Saki smiled up at her brother, who returned it equally bright. It was a Christmas tradition in their family that the two of them would "surprise" decorate their house on a day when their parents were out, and it was definitely nice to have a third pair of hands to help. She was super glad that Toya would be staying with them for the holiday. Especially considering how his family got... He definitely needed a break from that, and the Tenmas were more than happy to provide that.
Tsukasa tugged on the lights, the signal for Saki to pass more up to him. She quickly did so, taking the moment to observe her brother. He certainly has gotten better at decorating; the first year the two did this was definitely memorable, albeit a complete disaster. She chuckles softly at the memory. Tsukasa has nearly fallen off the roof, and the lights kept getting tangled, not to mention that it was snowing like crazy! But, the lights somehow ended up looking okay by the time their parents got home.
Toya came back out of the house with an extension cord that he handed to Saki. She plugged the end of the lights into the cord. "Could you plug this in real quick?" Saki asked to Toya, who nodded, grabbing the end of the extension cord and running to plug it in. After a moment, they turned on, and Tsukasa and Saki both cheered.
Tsukasa climbed down from the roof carefully, and once he was secure on the floor, Saki pulled him into a hug, jumping up and down. "C'mon, Toya, get in here with us!" Tsukasa called over to Toya. Reluctantly, Toya walked over to them, and was quickly pulled into the hug. The Tenmas were both laughing gleefully, and even Toya couldn't help but smile.
