On his first day he is already encountering issues. . .

Notes:

This is a written version of a visual series I was making on TikTok! I never did finish it there but i did have plans for an ending, unfortunately I don't have the time to draw the last few TikTok's to finish up the story so I'm going to be writing what has happened so far as well as the untold parts of the story here!
Maybe someday I'll finish this story on TikTok. ;-;

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: First day on the job

Chapter Text

I had recently gotten hired as a security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex, it was something that should have excited me. Having a basic knowledge of the history of this pizza place. . . well it put me on edge. But it was the only job I had applied for (and trust me there were many) that scheduled an interview, as well as actually hired me. So I felt I had no choice but to accept the position. And today was my first day…
I stood in the lobby, nervously tapping my foot. I was supposed to meet the other security guard that they employed so she could teach me the basics. It had been 20 minutes after the time we were supposed to meet and I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I didn’t have the security outfit or badges so I couldn’t really get anywhere, and I knew even less what I was supposed to do. Another few minutes passed by and just as I was dialing in the manager’s number I heard a voice behind me.

“Hey! You’re the new hire, right?” I turned around, there was a lady who looked slightly out of breath, her blonde hair tied neatly in a ponytail besides a few stray hairs. I shuffled my feet slowly lowering my phone.

“Yep, I’m assuming yourrrr…” I trailed off, trying to recall her name, she adjusted her collar and smiled.

“I’m Vanessa, I’m here to get you ready for your shift. I’ve got myself caught up in something so I’m going to make this quick.” I nodded in acknowledgement, watching her reach inside a bag hanging from her shoulder, pulling out a few items. “This is your tablet, you use it to keep track of what you have and need to check on each night. You can also write anything in notes if you think it’s important, such as if you notice machinery broken or a break in. And then this is your radio, there’s a guy on the other end of it which you can contact if you need help. This should be all, any questions?”
*That last part sounded more rhetorical than anything* I thought. Sure enough she didn’t wait before she spun on her heel and practically sprinted away, flying around a corner. After a moment of staring off at the general direction, I raised up the tablet and turned it on. It took a while but eventually it came across a screen showing me all of the areas I need to check in on tonight. My eyes widened, saying that there were a LOT of areas and tasks would be an understatement. But I guess it makes sense with how big this pizzaplex is.
Looks like my first stop is the daycare, fortunately all I had to do was make sure nothing was out of place and turn off the light. Simple enough. There was a little button on the bottom left that, when pressed, brought me to a map of the pizzaplex (a LIFESAVER for me, in a very simple sense I am extremely directionally challenged). I followed the map over to the door of the daycare, the light through the window shined bright in the otherwise dim interior of the building. I had to squint my eyes as I opened the door to the daycare, and as soon as I adjusted to the light I jumped back. Directly in front of me stood an animatronic, it towered over me, a metal head making a shadow where I was standing. I swiftly took a step back out the doorway and slammed it shut. After being stunned for a good minute or two I remembered I had a radio and quickly pressed the talk button.

“Heeey, this is the new security guard-” my voice was only slightly shaky from the sort of jumpscare I had just experienced “Uhm- are you there?”

“Ah, the new guy” I could hear his rough and tired voice through the staticky radio “what can I do for yah?”

“Yeah, uhm, I was under the assumption that the animatronics were, you know, turned off at night-” I laughed nervously. “And I just had an encounter with one in the daycare that still seems to be on.”

“Did they scare you?” He chuckled, slightly amused, "That’s Sun, don’t worry about them they’re harmless. The animatronics are kind of free roam, but they are usually in their assigned rooms at night. Although, I’d advise you to not talk to the animatronics as you do your work…” He sounded bored, and I could hear a yawn cut off halfway through the radio. Ah, delightful, I definitely wasn’t expecting to deal with the actual animatronics tonight. And what’s with not talking to them? Weird…
I slowly reopened the door; Sun was still there seemingly more slouched this time making him appear less tall.

“Hello Friend!” Sun said in an overly cheery, robotic voice, "What are you doing in the daycare at this hour?” I opened my mouth to answer but remembered what the radio guy said. I walked past Sun, pointing my eyes instead to check that everything was in order. I started mumbling to myself as I checked everything off that was supposed to be there.

“Computers off, check. Play Structure, check. Generators that are. . . in the playground? Cheeeeck??” That last one really weirded me out. However, I didn’t have time to think about it because Sun was once again trying to talk to me and be generally in my vision.

“I’m sorry friend, you may not have heard-” They started to say, but I turned away and started walking to the last thing I needed to do, mumbling that out loud as well.

“I just need to turn off the light.” But somehow, despite me MUMBLING this, Sun heard me. He jumped in front of me once again, but this time, he was blocking me from walking towards the light switch. I tried to run past him or just reach over to the light to switch it off, but each time they became a little more aggressive in defending it. Finally, I caved and spoke directly to them.

“What are you doing??” I asked, exasperated.

“Guarding the switch!”

“WHY? I need to turn that off, it’s part of the job, Sun!” I looked up at him. He was no longer slouching, making his height much more intimidating.

“No. The lights MUST stay on.”Sun stated, glaring down at me, still smiling. He then leaned down a little bit, closer to me, "Got it?”

I dragged my hands down my face in frustration. They REALLY have to make this more difficult for me, huh? Looking around the room I found no solution to this increasingly annoying problem, however one idea came to my head.

“Fine, I’ll leave it be.” I rolled my eyes, then leaned down acting like I was going to tie my shoe. Glancing up, Sun seemed to relax, their posture returning back to the slouched non threatening pose he had beforehand. Using this to my advantage, I swiftly slid my shoe off and threw it at the light switch, hoping that it would work how I intended. I managed to hit it and the lights turned off. I expected to hear something from Sun as I walked to grab my shoe and go, but they said nothing. Looking back as I was leaving, their silhouette stood completely still. I turned back around and left the daycare. . .

Why did it feel like I was being watched?
