Work Text:
“I’m not going.”
“Come on Sangie, he was nice enough to send you an invite. You should go.”
“Oh yeah, sure let me just pick out a nice suit and go to my ex’s wedding like an idiot.”
Wooyoung frowns.
“I thought the breakup was amicable.”
“So?”
“So you two are still friends, so come on,” Wooyoung nags. “And anyway, I’ve already returned our RSVPs.”
“What?”
“And! You’re bringing a date!”
“Jung Wooyoung.”
Wooyoung simply laughs and skips away.
“Better get ready, your date is waiting,” Wooyoung says as he skips away and Yeosang wants to argue. He really does. He cannot stress enough how much he doesn’t want to see Yunho getting married. Yes, they broke up on good terms but that doesn’t mean they have to try and be friendly with each other.
Actually, Yunho was always friendly with him.
It was just…Yeosang found it so hard to let go of someone he thought he would spend the rest of his life with.
They were together for 5 years and knew everything about each other before the test of time started showing cracks in their relationship. There were forgotten birthdays, forgotten dates, and a lot of silent treatment before they both called it quits. The love had disappeared and they somehow both become two totally different people by the end of it.
They ended up being like most other high school sweethearts.
Just an old relationship that left Yeosang nothing but bitter nostalgia.
Wooyoung who had been his best friend through the entirety of high school, college, and now as adults in the corporate world. He had seen and been there to hold Yeosang through the downfall of his relationship with Yunho. He had seen the best and the worst and he never judged Yeosang, he was simply there for him and Yeosang will always be grateful to him, but he just cannot go on another blind date set up by Wooyoung.
The last guy had been so sweet and so pretty but Yeosang could instantly tell that Felix’s heart wasn’t in it. He wasn’t going to string along a guy who was clearly in love with his best friend so they just ended up hanging out as friends and they did end up becoming really good friends. Yeosang silently cheered for Felix as he pined for Changbin and that was that really.
“San is a sweetheart and he already knows the real reason for the date so you can relax!” Wooyoung calls out from his room. “Now wear something warm and go to your favourite restaurant, San said he will be there in half an hour!”
So Yeosang simply sighs and gets dressed before he walks the short distance to his favourite fried chicken restaurant. The owner adored him and Wooyoung. The lovely old lady and her husband had practically fed the two best friends since college days and it felt like home cooking at this point.
The old lady greets him with a bright smile and asks where Wooyoung is. Yeosang tells her he is busy with work. The old lady gives him a symphatic look before telling him he could sit anywhere.
It doesn’t take long before someone approaches him.
“Are you Yeosang?”
Yeosang looks up to see a handsome (Yeosand had to be honest okay, so sue him) man with sharp features and cat-like eyes. Despite the intimidating aura he gave off, he had the sweetest dimpled smile and Yeosang can’t help but smile back at him, despite his nervousness.
“Yes, hi. I’m guessing you’re San.”
“Yes, nice to meet you,” he says and Yeosang finds himself relaxing.
“Please do sit down,” Yeosang gestures and San sits down opposite him.
“Thank you,” San says before taking his thick coat off and sitting down.
They order food and make small talk, talking about how cold it is outside and how they knew Wooyoung. San worked with Wooyoung and had started at the company at the same time as Wooyoung. They had instantly become work best friends and now that Yeosang thinks about it, Wooyoung had spoken about San at home a few times.
They fall quiet once the food arrives and then finally they broach the main subject of their date.
“So…” San says and Yeosang sighs again.
“I supposed we should talk about it,” Yeosang says. “I need a date for my ex’s wedding but I supposed Wooyoung has already told you that.”
San nods.
“Okay…can I ask why you’re even going to your ex’s wedding?” San asks and Yeosang has to sigh again.
“We technically broke up on good terms and Yunho seems to think that we’re still friends,” Yeosang says. “And I could have declined but Wooyoung was a gremlin and sent my RSVP and put a plus once just to be a menace.”
“Ah, it all makes sense now,” San says with a laugh. “Of course, it would be Wooyoung’s doing.”
“Tell me about it, he is a thorn in my side,” Yeosang says with possibly the 100th sigh of the day. “So, will you do it?” Yeosang asks, a little nervously.
“Yeah, I owe Woo one anyway,” San says with a smile and Yeosang smiles back.
“Thanks, I’ll owe you one too if all goes well,” Yeosang says.
“Sounds good…anyway, I guess we should talk about our plans,” San says and Yeosang nods.
“Well the wedding is a Christmas wedding so we have about a month to prepare for it but I guess we can come up with “our story” in case someone asks,” Yeosang says.
“We should probably just keep it as close to the real thing as possible,” San says. “Let’s stick to saying Wooyoung set us up and that we are a new couple, that way it won’t be weird if we aren’t very affectionate in public,” Sand adds.
Yeosang nods. San was making a lot of sense so Yeosang just goes along with it.
They decide to say they went on a few awkward dates before they ultimately both confessed at once and felt silly before agreeing to be boyfriends. It seems very in character for Yeosang. The rest of the evening goes nicely, they carry on just getting to know each other. Yeosang learned that San has an older sister and a cute pet cat.
Yeosang doesn’t like to talk about it normally but he lets San know that his mother had already passed away when he was a teen from an illness while his dad had been in the military when he lost his life. He lets San know it’s not really a big deal and he had his half brother, Hongjoong by his side through the whole experience.
“And of course, Wooyoung is my family too,” Yeosang says with a smile.
He hadn’t realised that the entire time Yeosang had been recalling the experience of losing his parents, San had been holding his hand on the table. It makes a warm feeling grow in the pit of his stomach. He appreciates San’s simple way of comfort.
Their date eventually comes to an end and San offers to walk Yeosang home. Something in him nags him to accept so he does. They carry on with the small talk, talking about their hobbies and interests. Every once in a while the back of their hands brush as they walk and Yeosang doesn’t know if he should take the initiative or not. He doesn’t hate the idea of holding hands with San.
San must have read his mind because he eventually grabs Yeosang’s hands and holds it, gently. He smiles at Yeosang.
“Practice.”
Yeosang laughs and nods.
“Yes, practice.”
_________
“You’re smiling,” Wooyoung says with narrowed eyes.
“Yes, and?” Yeosang asks, looking up from his phone.
“Who are you texting?” Wooyoung asks, suspiciously.
“No one,” Yeosang says.
Wooyoung of course doesn’t believe him and jumps on top of him. Yeosang lets out a little huff as Wooyoung snatches his phone.
“You’re texting San!”
“A bit louder for the people on the other side of the city,” Yeosang says and snatches his phone back.
“You’re sending each other memes!”
“So what?”
“That’s your love language! It took you years to start sending me memes!” Wooyoung complains.
“San is just…nice,” Yeosang mumbles as he looks at the laughing cat sticker San had sent him in response to a meme about forgetting one’s age once one is over 25.
“I know he is nice, he is MY work best friend,” Wooyoung says with a huff but then he smiles at Yeosang. “But I am glad you two are getting along.”
Yeosang hums in response.
“As long as you don’t replace me,” Wooyoung says and Yeosang rolls his eyes.
“I will never find another gremlin, Woo.”
“Yah!”
Yeosang is the one laughing now but he can't help but wonder if they had already gone a little past pretending like they were dating.
________
Yeosang and San go on a few more coffee dates just to get to know each other better and just get used to being around each other. They do small things like hold hands and have started hugging each other as a greeting.
San really was sweet and Yeosang felt the affection grow. He doesn’t know for sure whether he sees San as a friend or romantically but they have still only just met so he doesn’t think too much about it. He just enjoys the time he spends with San and San seems to be enjoying spending time with him so he just goes with it. San shows him photos and videos of Byeol and Yeosang laminating on how much he wishes he could get a pet but life is just too busy.
San gives him an understanding look as he wonders if Byeol is lonely whenever he goes to work.
Maybe they had gone past pretending by now. San doesn't seem to be too bothered and it almost feels like they have both come to a silent agreement.
They are having a lunch date. It goes as it normally does, small talk and catching up with each other. They are deep in conversation when someone calls Yeosang’s name.
Yeosang looks at the person who called him and his eyes widen in surprise.
“Y– Yunho?”
Yunho smiles as he always does, bright and friendly. Nothing malicious comes across and Yeosang knows it never has but he can’t help but feel some negative feelings at seeing how happy Yunho is. And of course, Seonghwa is with him.
“Hey,” Yeosang says almost weakly with the nicest smile he can muster.
Did Yeosang mention that Seonghwa was Yunho’s college senior?
So when Yunho and Seonghwa made things official, it almost felt like he had dropped Yeosang for someone better. He knows that’s just his insecurities speaking rather than the actual truth but he can’t help but feel bitter.
“Who’s your friend?” Yunho asks as he looks at San.
“Oh, this is San…he is my– ”
“I’m Yeosang’s boyfriend, nice to meet you both,” San says so smoothly that it takes Yeosang by surprise.
“Oh! Nice to meet you! I’m Yunho and this is my fiance, Seonghwa,” Yunho says as he shakes San’s hands. “It’s nice to meet you.”
Yunho and Seonghwa end up joining them for lunch and eventually ask them how they met.
“Wooyoung introduced us,” San says easily when asked. Yeosang feels nervous, he had never really been a good liar.
“Oh! Was it set up?” Seonghwa asks.
“I guess it kind of was…Wooyoung was probably sick of me moping around after I got out of a serious relationship,” San says and even Yeosang is taken by surprise.
“Oh wow, how long was it?” Yunho asks.
“We were together since high school and broke up last year so it was a while,” San says as he looks down, his face has fallen a little and Yeosang automatically reaches over and takes his hand. San looks up a little in surprise but smiles at Yeosang when he realises it was him who took his hand. “It worked out in the end…I wouldn’t have met Yeosang otherwise,” San says, looking directly at Yeosang, and for some reason, he had a feeling that San wasn’t just saying it for show.
“I bet you felt like a massive weight was lifted off your shoulder when you met Yeosang,” Seonghwa says with a big smile on his face and San nods in agreement.
“Yeah…he is something special,” San says, again looking at Yeosang directly and he feels his heart skip a beat.
“Oh god, you two are adorable,” Seonghwa coos.
“I’m so glad that you two are getting along…I’m so happy for you Sangie,” Yunho says with the most genuine smile on his face that makes Yeosang feel just a little bit guilty for lying about his relationship with San, if it even was a lie at this point.
Yeosang feels San squeeze his hand and he looks at San. He has a sweet smile on his face and Yeosang can’t help but smile back. The warmth in the pit of his stomach evolved into butterflies.
“I am lucky to have San.”
“Aww! You two are adorable,” Seonghwa coos again and Yeosang finds himself blushing a little this time.
The rest of the lunch goes without much incident and Yeosang surprisingly had a good time. San’s presence keeps him calm and eventually, they go their separate ways.
“I'll see you both at the wedding,” Yunho says and Yeosang nods.
“We look forward to it,” San says as he shakes both Yunho and Seonghwa's hands before they watch the finances leave, holding hands and whispering to each other.
Yeosang for the first time watches the couple with a smile. He actually felt good knowing Yunho was happy.
“That was nice,” San says and Yeosang nods.
“Yeah…it kinda was,” Yeosang says with a small laugh.
They walk back slowly as they chat. For a second Yeosang forgets that this was pretend, especially with the way San holds his hand. He doesn’t think too much about it and just enjoys the moment with San.
Yeosang has to admit that San was sweet and handsome. He made Yeosang laugh, and relax and made him feel like himself. It had been a while since he felt like this, excited over a silly text and looking forward to seeing San.
He looks at San and the way he talks animatedly. He is talking about Byeol and what she has been doing throughout the week.
Yeosang is happy.
San walks him home and much to his surprise, San seems to linger a little.
“San-ah, it's a little too cold to be hanging around out here,” Yeosang can't help but tease a little. San visibly blushes in the afternoon sun and Yeosang can’t help but giggle.
“Are you cold?” San asks, ever so shyly that Yeosang has to hold himself back from cooing.
“Not particularly but my hands are a little cold,” Yeosang says.
“I can warm them up.”
Before he can question it, San takes Yeosang’s other hand and then leads both of his hands into the pocket of his thick coat. San keeps hold of both of Yeosang’s hands even while they are in his pockets.
Yeosang lets out a little surprised huff and then he looks up at San and it's a mistake. His face is really close and he had already been looking down at Yeosang. Yeosang felt his face flushing at the way San was looking at him.
“Better?” San whispers and Yeosang can only nod.
“Good.”
Yeosang can feel the way San’s hot breath fans on his face as he speaks. His heart is pounding against his chest at the close proximity. It feels like they were cuddling and Yeosang doesn’t hate the idea.
Yeosang sees the way San’s eyes briefly flick down to his lips and he can’t help but bite his bottom lip. San gulps and Yeosang wants to laugh but that seems mean so instead he takes one of his hands out of San’s pocket and cups his face.
“I think my hands are warm enough now,” Yeosang says and San nods stiffly. “My lips are a little cold now…could you help with that?”
“I think I can.”
Yeosang’s eyes slowly flutter close as San closes the distance and their lips touch in a soft kiss. It’s slow and a little tentative as they are both a little unsure but Yeosang gets a hold of his nerves and deepens the kiss. San freezes only for a second before he returns the sentiment and follows Yeosang’s lead. They move in sync and it makes the butterflies in Yeosang’s stomach explode.
They pull away when something cold lands on their noses.
They looked up at the same time to see that the first snowfall of winter was starting.
“Wow,” Yeosang says.
“Yeah, wow.”
Yeosang looks at San to say something about how beautiful the snow is but he blushes instead when he realises that San has been looking at him the whole time.
San laughs and reaches over to wipe the melting snow off his nose.
“We should probably talk about that…” San says once they have completely separated.
“Yeah…” Yeosang agrees. “Do you want to come in?”
“I would love to…but I fear Wooyoung will roast me so maybe we can meet again for dinner?” San suggests instead.
Yup, things were definitely far from pretending now.
“Yeah, that sounds good,” Yeosang says, a little sad that their date was ending but it was a Sunday and they both had work tomorrow.
“Maybe…you can come over mine, I can cook dinner for us?” San tries to cheer him up a little and Yeosang smiles.
“Sounds good, San-ah. Let me know when,” Yeosang says as he steps into San’s personal space again before he leans in to press a soft kiss on his cheek. “See you soon.”
San blushes and nods stiffly before he turns away and starts walking down the street. Yeosang stands at his door and watches San disappear into the distance before he enters his and Wooyoung’s building. He walks up towards their flat and when he unlocks the door he lets out a little scream.
“I see things are progressing with Sannie.”
“Fuck sake! You scared the life out of me!”
Wooyoung laughs like the menace he is.
“Getting comfortable with Sannie, I see,” Wooyoung teases as Yeosang huffs.
“Were you spying on us?” Yeosang asks as he hangs up his coat and scarf.
“Nope…I was just downstairs collecting the mail,” Wooyoung pops the P and Yeosang rolls his eyes.
“Well, you’ll be glad to know he is scared of you and refused to come inside,” Yeosang says and Wooyoung laughs again.
“Good, he knows he needs my approval before he starts dating my Sangie!”
“You’re the one who set us up,” Yeosang points out.
“I know cause I know what is best for you, that doesn’t mean I’ll make his life very easy,” Wooyoung says as he taps his fingers together like an evil villain.
“I thought he was your work best friend.”
“He is but Sangie,” Wooyoung says as he throws himself on Yeosang’s back. “You were mine first.”
Yeosang simply rolls his eyes and walks to his room with Wooyoung still hanging off of him. He throws Wooyoung on his bed before he starts getting his soft pyjamas and a clean towel out of his wardrobe. Wooyoung is rolling around on top of his bed and Yeosang almost regrets bringing him into his room. He was one of those people who liked his bed nice and pristine until it was bedtime.
“I’m gonna shower, get out of my room before I come back out.”
“You’re so mean to your best friend Sangie!”
“Yeah, yeah.”
By the time Yeosang has finished showering, Wooyoung has gotten blankets ready and some snacks ready. Yeosang doesn’t have to be told before he already knows that Wooyoung has decided on an impromptu TV night.
“What are we watching?” Yeosang asks as he plops himself down on the sofa.
“We can catch up on that awful dating show.”
They sit quietly and watch the last few episodes of a bad knock off of The Bachelor. Yeosang doesn’t even know what it’s called. He just knows it's awful and addicting.
“Can I ask you something?” Yeosang asks and Wooyoung hums.
“...San was in a long term relationship,” Yeosang starts and Wooyoung’s head snaps towards him.
“He told you?”
“Not me per se…we ran into Yunho and Seonghwa today.”
“Wait, wait, wait! All of this happened you didn’t tell me earlier?!” Wooyoung screams and Yeosang closes his eyes.
“You were too busy teasing me about kissing San.”
“You kissed San?!”
“You said you saw us!”
“Yeah! Talking and you kissed his cheek!”
“Oh.”
“Forget the shitty dating show, tell me everything!”
So Yeosang retells Wooyoung about his date with San and the entire time Wooyoung squealed like a teenager.
“So you like San!” Wooyoung concludes loudly.
“I…I think I do.”
“Ahhh! I knew it! I just knew you two would click!”
“Yeah, yeah…just…it’s scary,” Yeosang admits and Wooyoung hugs him tightly.
“I know Sangie…it’s always scary at the beginning but San is one of the sweetest people I know and he is just so perfect for you,” Wooyoung assures him. “I wouldn’t introduce you to anyone who would treat you badly.”
“I know Woo…it’s just…it’s been so long,” Yeosang says. “And as mutual as my breakup with Yunho was, it still hurt like a bitch.”
“Sangie…you won’t know unless you try,” Wooyoung says. “I want you to be happy and I can tell San makes you happy.”
“Yeah…he does.”
“And that alone is worth trying.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
Yeosang feels a little better after talking to Wooyoung and San eventually texts him later on in the week asking him if he is free on Saturday. He says he was and San sends him a time and his address.
He was excited to see San again.
They do see each other on Wednesday after work just for suit fittings. Wooyoung is with them and the entire time Wooyoung sticks himself to Yeosang while he gives San dirty looks.
“He saw us outside on Sunday,” Yeosang explains when San gives him a questioning look.
“Ah.”
“You’ll not corrupt my Sangie!”
“I didn’t know your parents were coming with us today," San says with a roll of his eyes.
“Oh trust me, you’ll have an easier time with my parents.”
“That’s right! I’m scarier than his parents!”
“Just ignore him.”
“...you want to introduce me to your parents?” San’s voice is small but Yeosang finally realises the weight of his words.
“Of course, I do,” he says as he takes San’s hand into his own. “They would like you.”
“He has to make me like him first!”
“We’re friends!”
“He’s your work best friend!”
Both /san and Yeisang say at the same time and Wooyoung simply continues to glare at San.
It was accurate to say that the suit fitting was difficult, to say the least.
Luckily, they are alone for their dinner date.
Yeosang is a little nervous as he stands in front of San’s door with a bottle of wine. Gosh, he hopes San likes wine. Maybe beer would have been better. And was he dressed alright? Yeosang knocks on the door before he can overthink and run away.
San opens the door with a big smile and Yeosang can instantly smell the food San has cooked. The smile on San’s face instantly relaxes him.
“Hey! Come on it! It’s freezing out there,” San says and lets Yeosang in. "I can't believe how much the temperature has dropped mid December," San says and Yeosang nods in agreement. He takes Yeosang’s scarf and coat. Yeosang gives him the wine and San thanks him. They are both a bit hesitant but they share a quick kiss that makes the smile on San’s face grow.
“I missed you,” he says.
“You saw me on Wednesday,” Yeosang says with a roll of his eyes.
“Yes, but Wooyoung was there to cockblock me,” San says with a shake of his head. “I wanted to kiss you so badly.”
“Better make up for it tonight than,” Yeosang teases and San’s eyes sparkle with mischief.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time,” San says.
“Your food is gonna burn, better concentrate.”
“Oh shit,” San mutters under his breath before he rushes towards the kitchen while Yeosang laughs to himself.
Dinner with San is nice, it’s really nice. He had his Christmas tree and some other decorations around his flat. He also got to meet Byeol who was a little shy at first but took to Yeosang like a duck takes to water. They have a few glasses of wine and Yeosang realises that neither of them were good drinkers. They end the night with cups of tea, the wine is long forgotten and both their bellies are full.
Snow had started falling again outside and the two of them sat on the sofa with Byeol curled up between them. Home Alone plays on the TV but both of them are focusing and fussing over Byeol instead.
Once Byeol has had enough, Yeosang finally decides they should talk.
“I guess we must talk,” San sighs.
“Yeah.”
“I guess I should tell you about my long term relationship first,” San says and Yeosang nods.
“We went to middle school together and basically knew each other all our lives. We confessed at the beginning of high school and were together until last year. You know that part,” San says. “About 3 years ago was when it went downhill…we were in love and were talking about getting married but then it got toxic.”
“Toxic?”
San nods.
“We became so bad we were destructive. When I really think about it we were just growing apart. We were both busy with work and refused to change and adapt to each other, love grew into hate and we eventually had to call it quits.”
“Oh, San.”
“I never wanted to hurt him but I ended up hurting him and myself. I never want to be that person again,” San says and Yeosang hugs him tightly. “I know he is happy now and that makes it all better,” San adds as he hugs Yeosang back.
“We met up recently and he smiled at me like before and I just knew we did the right thing,” San says.
“I'm glad to hear that, San-ah,” Yeosang says as he pats his back. “You're a good person, San-ah…better than me anyway who was wishing Yunho to be miserable,” Yeosang admits.
San looks at him with a small smile.
“You're only human,” San says and cups his face. “Your feelings are valid and that doesn't make you a bad person,” San adds before pulling him in for a forehead kiss.
“I wasn't lying when we met Yunho and Seonghwa,” San says. “I am glad we met and you are special,” he adds sincerely and Yeosang's heart is pounding against his chest and the butterflies are threatening to escape his stomach.
“I like you San-ah,” Yeosang whispers and San smiles.
“I like you too, Yeosang-ah.”
Their lips meet in a soft kiss but this time neither of them hesitate to kiss each other. Yeosang’s hands clutches the soft fabric of San’s jumper while San’s arms find their way to Yeosang’s waist. They don’t hold back now with all their feelings laid on the table.
They move in sync and eventually, Yeosang finds himself on San’s lap.
When they pull away they are both a little breathless.
San is smiling up at him though and Yeosang feels like he has finally found somewhere he belongs.
Someone he belongs to.
San wipes the stray tear falling down his face.
“You’re crying.”
“Oh shit, sorry,” Yeosang curses as he furiously blinks his eyes. “I don’t know why.”
“It’s okay, Yeosang-ah,” San says as if he can read right through Yeosang already. “There is no need to cry for me, we loved and we grew apart, there is nothing sad about it,” San says as he draws little comforting circles on his cheek.
“I know,” Yeosang says. “I’m sorry.”
“Nothing to be sorry for, Yeosang-ah,” San says and kisses his tears away.
“I…I think maybe it’s because I went through a similar thing with Yunho,” Yeosang says. “Yes, we broke mutually but it still hurt so much at the time,” Yeosang adds and San gives him an encouraging nod. “I…I thought he was it but we started fighting and neither of us were really confrontational people so it was all just shit.”
San starts to leave quick kisses on his cheek.
“I thought my whole world was ending and I still felt so horrible about it and then you showed up like the stupid knight in shining armor you are,” Yeosang says with a laugh and San looks at him with a small pout on his face.
Yeosang laughs and kisses him.
“I know we actually weren’t really set up by Wooyoung but I’m grateful for him and his ridiculous plans,” Yeosang says.
“Don’t tell him he was right though, his ego would blow up,” San says and they laugh together.
“No, we wouldn’t want that.”
________
“Who the hell gets married on Christmas Day?!”
“Oh stop being dramatic,” Yeosang says while Wooyoung throws different clothes here and there. “You’re just in a pissy mood because you’re missing your mum’s cooking.”
“When I get my hands on Jeong Yunho!”
Yeosang rolls his eyes.
“All you’re gonna do is hug him and cry,” Yeosang says. “Now stop being dramatic, we’re gonna be late.”
“But something isn’t right with my suit!”
“We had them fitted two weeks ago, it looks perfect, Woo,” Yeosang says, feeling a little defeated.
“...Really?”
“Yes, really. You pull it off so well, my handsome best friend,” Yeosang says with a smile and Wooyoung automatically perks up. “Great! Let’s go, San has been waiting downstairs for half an hour!”
Wooyoung gasps.
“You liar! You only complimented me so your stupid boyfriend doesn’t have to wait any longer!”
“Love you too, Woo!”
________
The ceremony was beautiful and emotional. The vows were lovely and both the grooms looked amazing. The day was perfect and Yeosang is sure that Yunho and Seonghwa couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding.
The reception is in full swing and Yeosang finds himself in the middle of San and Wooyoung’s bickering.
San wanted to dance with Yeosang and Wooyoung absolutely would not allow it.
“Come on, it’s Christmas!” San pouts and Wooyoung coos and pinches his cheek.
“As cute as you are Sannie, Sangie’s first dance has been reserved for me,” Wooyoung snickers before he stands up and drags Yeosang to the dance floor.
Yeosang just goes along with it because he knows that this is not an argument he is going to win.
“Wooyoung, you know that I know you’re sticking your tongue out at San as we dance,” Yeosang says, unamused at his best friend’s antics.
“I have to let him know that I win,” Wooyoung says. “And that you belong to me first!” he adds before pressing a kiss on his cheek.
“Ugh.”
“You love me really,” Wooyoung says.
“I never said that,” Yeosang deadpans.
“You said it this morning!”
“I need proof, my dear best friend,” Yeosang says before he takes charge and spins Wooyoung, bringing him back into his arms.
Wooyoung’s eyes are large and round in surprise and Yeosang smirks at him.
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I want to dance with my boyfriend,” Yeosang says before pushing him away gently.
“W– wait! Sangie!”
Yeosang doesn’t stick around to find out what happened to Wooyoung before he quickly walks toward San.
“May I have a dance, my knight?” Yeosang asks and San smiles up at him before taking his hand.
“Of course, my prince,” San says and they happily join everyone on the dance floor.
They dance together, San easily leading him and Yeosang simply melts into his arms, his head resting on San’s chest. San hold him close as they sway together to the slow music. Yeosang can hear San's steady heartbeat which feels nice and comforting. He sighs, finally feeling content.
“You look pretty tonight,” San says and Yeosang feels himself blushing a little as he lifts his head and looks at San. San laughs at his reaction and Yeosang pouts.
“No bad yourself,” Yeosang mumbles, and San coos at him.
“Better stop pouting or I might have to kiss you,” San teases and it only makes Yeosang pout more.
“Empty threats,” Yeosang teases back and San rolls his eyes.
They carry on dancing together, joking and laughing together until someone (who awfully sounds like Wooyoung) yells at them.
“Mistletoe!”
All the couples who were dancing stopped and looked up. Yeosang and San look up and realise that they are the ones under the mistletoe. Yeosang feels his face flush as everyone turns around to look at them. He can hear Wooyoung’s menacing laughter and he will have to cause Wooyoung some stress when they get back home.
“And he was just threatening me not 5 minutes ago,” San grumbles, and Yeosang laughs.
“You’re such a big baby,” Yeosang says as he cups San’s face. “But you’re my big baby and my Christmas miracle,” Yeosang adds before pulling him in for a kiss.
Everyone cheers, no one as loud as Wooyoung.
