Chapter Text
Okay.
So technically…this guy, who is literally the embodiment of a sore loser…is supposedly to be deemed as dangerous and intimidating.
Yeah, you get where those labels come from. The supposed scary parts of him, you mean. He doesn't look like any typical teenage boy, having a temple tattoo that reaches to his neck and a wack ass hairstyle (that's not even a single human being in school will dare do). It sure seems to prove to you that he was supposed to be bad news.
The cringy things that delinquents do, he must have done all of it. If he were to have a checklist, all of the boxes will be marked with not a single one being left empty. All the conditions that he needs to meet in order to be a true delinquent, he must have met all of that a long time ago.
But dear God.
How on earth things had come to this?
It's not like you have high hopes or anything about him. You have known about his existence in school for the last 3 years, and as the president of the student council, out of your will, you know everyone's name and how they are like. It may not be in a deeper manner but you know them on the surface.
Maybe not the juniors, but your batchmates, you know most of them.
And what you have envisioned about this man is that he might be a cold blooded ruthless person that loves nothing but beating up people as an entertainment in his life.
Bloodthirsty.
Simply saying that word defines your assumption about him completely.
That's what you heard from others. How in your head, an unreal or made up memory in your head of him beating up people with an evil grin etched on his face was there.
Knuckle dusters.
That's what you always saw him wearing on his right hand, he must have used it to wreck his opponents faces mercilessly.
Inflicting pain on others sure would have brought him pleasure.
So of course, without a doubt, you imagined him enjoying trampling on the weaker people and how he will literally shout with all his might, how invincible and strong he is that every human being that was not even on his level, should bow to him like he's a king.
And how wrong your assumptions were.
Well, of course, all those thoughts you have for him…in an instant, changes and your perception of him from being intimidating turns into…a good-for-nothing loser instead.
Your new perception of him now is valid and somewhat true.
Because if it wasn't, you wouldn't even step foot in this place right now.
You would have gone straight home and maybe went your merry way to enjoy the dinner your mother had cooked. She said she was making Oden today, which is your favourite.
But you can't believe you have sacrificed your delicious dinner for this loser .
Maybe a part of you, just a tiny one, was quite blaming him for making you do this . But you have no choice, you just couldn’t leave him be and act like you didn’t see what type of state he was in before.
It may not be a major thing or something to be really concerned about, but it may be because of your obligation as the president of your own school has overtaken you and how you feel like you have to do something , even if you don’t have to. That’s why it has led you to make this very unplanned and unbelievable decision.
You never even had a conversation with him before either. Basically, you two never even know each other, complete strangers that may have passed one another in the school hallways and may know the other person’s name when anyone else mentioned it, instead of introducing your names to each other.
Like you said before, you know his existence. You know his bad reputation and how every teacher in your school will turn red whenever there’s a mention of his name in a conversation. He’s an absolute troublemaker, a boy that was assumed to be broken and can’t be fixed so every teacher has given up on him and lost hope to make him become a better person.
It’s like they were labelling him as a damage that has been done and all that was left in him was remnants of broken pieces that can’t be glued together.
And now, you have wondered, if you weren’t nominated as the president or even gotten that position…will you ever make this decision?
Was it your position or obligation that led you to this?
Or was it just merely your soul that had driven you to do so?
You have no clue either.
What matters now is that you feel a sense of relief swarming inside you. You begin to wonder if you left him be, what would have happened to him? Will he just go home and let himself be in that type of state?
Hell, if you know.
The silence between you two sure was deafening and louder than any crowds that you have ever been in. And his turn to be checked up to the doctor sure was taking an eternity. I mean, who else was supposed to be blamed?
It’s not like all of these people asked or voluntarily wanted to get sick anyways. This is just the normal part of life. There will not be a single day for a clinic not to be occupied by people because if that possibility happens, most doctors will be left unemployed instead.
So there you both were.
You let him sit on the vacant seat that was fortunately occupied by someone who had their turn to be checked up by the doctor when you both arrived. While you on the other hand stood beside him, leaning against the wall while crossing your arms. In circumstances where you have to wait such a long time, you couldn’t control your habit of tapping your foot on the floor, probably trying to fill in the boredom you were feeling right now and then some people will misinterpret your action of you being pissed or exasperated, when it never was the case.
If you’re to say that the silence between you two was boring you, you were sure that wouldn’t be true. You’re not much of a person that likes to talk anyways, especially when you're with someone you barely know, you prefer to stay quiet. It’s not like you two have something in common to talk about anyways.
So you just stared at the clinic room’s door that was written with the doctor’s name on a board, waiting for the miracle of number 214 being called (you know that will be impossible because the last number was 206) so that you can get this shit over with already.
It’s not just the waiting that irritates you.
You would like to count his stares as one of the causes too. He’s been staring at you since you dragged him to this clinic, it seems like he wanted to say something but he got tongue tied, the reason…he may not want to explain, considering he can’t even say what he wanted to say, you doubt he will even say why he was acting so strange.
Like you said, you know most of the people in your school on a surface level. Through your observations of course, you may be introverted and speak when needed but you sure do listen to every word that anyone says and that’s where people are wrong about you being oblivious or clueless.
You may act like you don’t care or not understand but you actually do and you notice every detail that some people don’t even have to mention to you directly.
You know inside out this man is the exact opposite of your very existence. He is known to be talkative and extroverted, more accurately, he is labelled as someone loud…which is…not a good thing. People have complained how he tends to be rude to teachers and he can’t shut that potty mouth of his for a mere second, he always has something to say or a creative remark to any situation.
So now, you are absolutely befuddled with his behaviour, he is not being what you expected him to be. It’s not like you want him to talk non-stop to the point he pisses you off or something, but you’re just surprised that this guy has the capability to shut the fuck up.
It’s like something impossible or a new side of him you have never seen before.
He always has something boastful or prideful shit he has to tell others like people would care and remember how “amazing” he is.
Yeah, maybe at those times, he has been receiving praises from others and his superiority was valid to them.
But now…after you witness what happened, he sure has nothing to boast about.
I mean…who would do that… after losing a fight?
That’s pretty sure a dumb thing to do.
So because his turn to be checked up might be happening in another 30 minutes, you gave in and speak up, “You know…your staring is not going to help me know what’s bothering you,” You let out a sigh, completely exhausted from standing too long and wish for this to be over quickly.
He cleared his throat in response and broke his stares to you, realising that you have caught him red handed. But you can’t blame him, he was trying to make sure what’s happening right now is real and was not some dream that his brain had made up.
Because…what the actual hell?
This sure will be the last thing possible to happen. Well, Shion does know that unexpected shit will always happen in his life and what he meant by that is that he knows after Toman has disbanded and quitting delinquency, his old enemies might attack him unannounced and try to take revenge on him.
And as per usual, he holds on to his beliefs and ideals. He doesn’t want to beat up people again and leave that lifestyle. He wants it to be gone for good. He’s eighteen now, he wants to take his life seriously and wake up for that deluded dream he has been in all this time.
It is time to be real and mature. Thinking about how his future will lead to and what he will bring to society one day.
But he sure knows that his past will continue to haunt and get back at him. He had done lots of messed up stuff in the past, it sure was not going to get easy. What happened was the consequences of his actions before this.
He was the type to target the weakest and harmless ones in the gang and beat them up relentlessly with his knuckle duster. He purposefully does that just so he can feel good about himself, making sure to prove to others how he is the strongest, even if using a weapon was already considered cheating , embarrassingly to admit…he took pride in all those “achievements” he had gotten.
It would be a lie if he said that he doesn't compare himself to others one bit and see himself superior, the one and only very being that is indestructible.
He acts all high and mighty, when in reality, Shion has always been someone insecure and inferiority can become his second name if he dares to admit. Things wouldn't be better if there's people like Izana and Mikey existing in his life, he went on to the point to blabber it at Rindou that both of them can be the strongest if they were to exist in a different timeline.
And Rindou, being the good “kouhai” he is, also agreed with the statement (no, he didn't, he's being sarcastic and Shion couldn't see it).
But all of that doesn't matter anymore. Even Mikey and Izana had moved on from being involved with delinquency and were starting to get back on track with their life.
And still, Shion was absolutely jealous how all the other Toman members seemed to be having no problems and was doing great even after the disbandment.
Shion can't say that he couldn't move on, it's not like he longed for that lifestyle or anything. I mean, if he was brazen enough, he can just go back at it again and find some random motorcycle gang to join in and start from square one.
He doesn't want that. He does agree about the disbandment.
The real problem here is that he realises how all his life, the only thing that he knows was getting into fights, expanding the gang territory and repeating the same shit all over again to the point it was not thrilling anymore.
And now, as he had finally quit all of that…the only thing that has left his mind was…what will he be? What else can he do? Is there even a bright future for him?
It’s more humiliating to say that even if being a gang member is the only thing he knows what to do, he will say he was very bad at it. He can't even fight without his knuckle dusters and all his stories were full of exaggeration and lies, so what on earth can he even do actually?
It's like his value and self-worth is now nonexistent. Like he is now an empty shell, that can never be filled with anything. Because he is a shell with a broke piece, even if tries to pour in liquid in it, it will still flow out and that will just had him into having nothing.
When people say he should try new things and seek new experiences, he will end up being scared to do so and as per usual, he knows that he is bad at… everything.
He can be cruel enough to say that his very existence was to fail in everything. It's like the world wouldn't let him catch a break over such misfortunes.
Pretty sure none of the other ex-members of Toman had to go through what he's been in. They must have lived happily after the disbandment and can claim to others that their lives are now “normal”.
But Shion, on the other hand? Even that sounds impossible.
Maybe this has been his karma for being so messed up in the past. Not only will he insult his enemies mercilessly, but he'll also be bragging and displaying his endless narcissism which can trigger such indignance from them.
So of course, they will not hesitate to beat him up when they coincidentally bump into him. They see it as a golden opportunity. It's even a bonus that Shion refused to fight them back and was clinging on to that normal life that he desired for, so that's why…he became their punching bag.
Even Shion exactly has no clue if being that way was the right thing to do. He hates to see himself as weak to others. As much as it was crazy for him to hold on and endure all of that ruthless kicking and punching he had gotten just now, he knew that his patience was hanging by a loose thread and he was so close to losing it and almost fought back.
Yeah. Being a loser will never be something that he wants in this life.
He absolutely hates being appeared in that type of way. How he…actually wishes that not a single soul will ever see what happened just now.
But that wish sure can't come true for him.
Because that's where you come into the picture. Coming out of nowhere and suddenly dragging him to the nearby clinic without a single word.
He actually planned to just go back and just tend up to his own wounds by himself. Come to think of it, it just gets even more miserable for him than it already was.
So…now…the real question is…why is the school president….out of all people…decided to help him out of nowhere?
Not only you were known to be blunt and cold and fucking terrifying, but he sure expects you to be the last person to even give him a helping hand. Even if you coincidentally passed by the alleyway he got beaten up, the first thing you'll do is just look at him in disgust and move your merry way like you just didn't notice him.
But you didn't.
You did the exact opposite of what he expected.
Maybe that's why you both were in such silence. Because the only thing you two are having in common right now is confusion and how the expectations you both have for each other were not happening. The exact opposite happens instead.
How hilarious can this situation be.
“You can go back home if you want to though,” He was trying so hard to act all cool and unbothered, “I'll be fine on my own. Your mom is probably waiting for you,”
You stayed quiet for a moment. Taking in his words like he was purposefully saying that to keep a tough exterior. You don't know if he wants you to go because he doesn't want you to see how humiliating he looks or he just doesn't want to be a bother to you but either way, your response will always be this, “Yeah, you're right. It'll be so nice to go home right now. My mom even made my favourite meal,”
Well.
You didn't even hold back from being sarcastic with this guy. Probably it stems from the anger of him not wanting you to help him and trying to boast to you that “he's strong” and he can go through this alone (when he clearly is not).
Shion sure was dumbfounded with your harsh words. He may not understand sarcasm language or speak it fluently but he knows that there is anger in your tone.
“Well, if that's the case…move along, then…” He continues on with asking you to go, like he stated before, he doesn't understand sarcasm and he actually thought you were about to move your merry way when in reality, you have no means to do so at all.
After having your stares on the clinic room's door all this time, you finally looked back at him. All you saw was him just looking at the floor, not daring to even look at you anymore after staring all this time.
“Are you asking for me to get lost?”
Good god.
Shion can only mentally facepalm himself and as much as he doesn't want to admit it, but he sure was about to shit his pants because of how intimidating your tone is.
The student council president sure is a different type of being this year. Before this, the position was given to boys and he sure doesn't want to be some sexist asshole to his own gender but most of the presidents are incompetent and lazy and it's always the people under them that have to do the hard work even more and then all of the sudden they get to claim it as if it's their own effort which is actual bullshit.
But this year, out of your luck, you won the election and marked as the first girl in your school to ever get to be president. It was a legendary moment in your school indeed.
And as much as how competent and responsible you are with your position, compared to the other ones before, it sure was quite of a hassle or irritating for others that you are somehow strict and you don't compromise…at all.
There was this one time where a second-year student that went late to school for 2 hours and you decided to get her suspended for a week (this is with the discussion with the teachers of course, you don't have the exact power to do things on your own).
Some people will say that's too much but you couldn't care less of what others say. Why is it that the punishment is too much when the person was the one who was taking things too far?
The fact the only excuse she can give was that she had overslept, that sure had made your blood boil. You absolutely loathe people that think school is just some place to have fun and keep on persisting with that “You Only Live Once” type of shit to ignore what's most important, or easy to say, escape from it.
You have no means or any intention to stop people from being happy but can they at least be mature and know when or not they should have fun or be serious?
And this is where some people assume that you're a robot and all you care about is your grades and your responsibilities, when in reality, you do have the space and time to have fun too, it's just people don't see it or sadly to say, people wouldn't let you own it and assume you're no fun.
So that's why whenever most of your “friends” planned on hanging out, they never invite you and they tried to cover it up with saying, “Oh sorry, we thought you couldn't come,”
But it's not about whether you can or can't be there, you know. Even if at that time, you couldn't go with them but at least offering and inviting makes you feel that you're cared about or appreciated. But this sure does prove most of your friends don't even like being friends with you.
You know that behind your back, they call you “boring” or even “stoic”, which doesn't amuse them of course.
Well, whatever anyways.
It's not like you have the desire to be attached with anyone. Hell, everything about your personal life sure wasn't disclosed by you to any of them so in the end, you were the one that created a wall to others so they couldn't see or know, what are the real things about you.
“N-no! I was just saying…I mean, you want– you can leave–wait, no, go home—” Shion words were out of place that he end all of that chaos with a sigh and continued, “Ah, forget it,”
Wow, totally get the message.
You kept quiet like you used to before. Probably not wanting to prolong this conversation that was going nowhere. You have no plans to go back home anyway and he couldn't do a thing about it.
It's kind of funny that you were doing the exact opposite of what you were thinking of. Technically, you have the urge or intention to go back home, like you said, you do rather have your favourite meal instead of spending time in this clinic with someone that knows nothing but being reckless.
But now, as he was the one that instructed you to go.
There’s no way you will oblige.
The main reason…you decided to stay was…you loathe being told what to do. You like to do things on your freewill and you will go home if you feel like you truly want to.
Maybe this is what being a president has turned you into. You were getting more stubborn than you could remember and you have been giving out instructions and planning out things for your subordinates and mind you, there was even some work that you have to cover for them because they were too slow to pick up with your pace.
It’s difficult to be in an environment or in an organisation that somehow proves that the members are not in sync or have any chemistry with each other. Even when the subordinates are having a conflict, you tend to blame yourself for not being a good enough leader.
Don’t even try to mention how you hate the vice president who always tries to prove to you so much that he is better and he should have been the president instead and not you. You were fuming of course and it’s more annoying that he’s the type to do stuff at the very last minute and tends to tell you that you were overthinking and you should “calm down”.
There was even the time you couldn’t stand him anymore and you threw the paperwork he had written into the trash can, right in front of his face, because of how badly written and unorganised it was.
You wonder, were you actually putting unrealistic expectations on people or were people not trying hard enough to meet the standards that you have set?
It doesn’t matter.
You absolutely have zero trust or have the desire to be attached with anyone.
Maybe that’s why you have become too independent.
No. That was too nice.
You’re actually just lonely and empty. Now that…describes you accurately.
As you have been silent and not bothering to respond to his words before, you then decide to ask this very question. This question…has been occupied in your mind from the first time you saw him laying down on the alleyway with bruises and blood covering all over him.
I mean…it’ll be crazy if you weren’t curious, right?
You don’t see him or wonder what he was on about, but you sure somehow coincidentally notice him one time… doing that particular thing that people have been talking about and scaring you about him.
“Why didn’t you fight back?”
Right.
The most expected thing you will have for him to do was none other than punching his enemies with that knuckle duster he has.
But nope.
This time, it was different.
His knuckles were empty.
But there’s no way in hell he will become helpless if he doesn’t have his knuckle duster, of course he knows the basic martial art thingies that delinquent pass on and teach each other, right?
It’s like…
…he purposefully had made himself be that way.
He was holding back and refused to fight back. The fact is that he didn’t even attempt to throw a punch or land his opponents a kick at all, it just proves to you that something is off. And the only thing that he could do was make himself small and cover some parts of his body to protect himself from such intense beating.
You just…don’t know why.
You were sure and you believe your own gut…that he was thinking that he deserve s that beating.
That's why he didn't bother to lift a finger.
When you asked that question, Shion sure had frozen in his spot and he couldn't move an inch.
Shit!
That was the only word that can describe the situation for him right now.
He can't help but get embarrassed. He actually hates for people to see him in such a pitiful and pathetic state. It gets even worse that out of all people, the school’s president is the one that witnessed it.
All he can do is avoid eye contact with you and try his best to not be so obvious that he's so embarrassed of himself that he will dig a hole in this clinic floor and bury himself in it so he can disappear from you forever and not face you again if he could.
So he cleared his throat and let out a mocking chuckle to tell (gaslight) you that you had it all wrong. “Prez, I did fight back. It was when you came…they started to beat me up altogether.”
Oh, that sounds uncool, no?
“Wait!” He intended to correct his words, “What I meant is…I was…uhh…at a disadvantage. It was 10 vs 1! Of course, I will lose…which is something rare to happen to me because I always win fights. Plus…they cheated and used weapons on me so….” He shrugged his shoulders, acting like it was not a big deal when you know damn well how you have witnessed how weak his state was and he was not able to move a single bone if you weren't to help him just now.
“Really?”
“Yeah, you saw—”
You didn't cut off his words but he went silent by himself. It might just be your expression that had driven him to do so, it was the way you were subtly conveying to him the words “I'm not buying your bullshit”.
So his mouth that was open for him to talk has now been close shut. He then tried to avoid his gaze from you again.
There's no way in hell he will ever admit to you what was actually the reason behind he had chosen to do so. It was too embarrassing for him to say it and as much how he never seen you laugh before (because you're always wearing a serious expression most of the time), it sure is possible that it will mark the first time he will ever see you laugh, solely because you're going to take his words later on as a joke.
So no.
Shion absolutely refuses with every fibre in his body to tell you the truth.
As he was sure that keeping quiet is the best option he could think of, all of a sudden…some type of inspiration hit him.
Well.
You want to know why he didn't fight back, right?
Then…what about you?
What was the reason for you to help him?
There's no fucking way you have feelings for him, right? As much as Shion seems to be in the clouds and will always be flattering himself most of the time, he absolutely knows that it's impossible for you to catch feelings at all…especially to someone like him.
You're the one and only emotionless and stoic school president. Why on earth will you have feelings for some delinquent like him?
That's just…too delusional of him to think that way.
He sure will fully admit how unattainable you are and you're definitely out of his league. But it's not like he's sad about it though, he doesn't have feelings for you either. So for once, that's mutual between you two.
But the real question is…why did you help him?
I mean, you both are not in school right now. Your obligation and responsibility as the school president should be left at the school gate and you should not bring it outside school.
So…is it just because it's your obligation as the president?
“What about you, then?”
You stared at him long enough, not understanding one bit of his question. Which then cues him to proceed with his words.
“Why did you help me?”
You continued to stare at him like he was something hollow for you to look at. Your expression didn't change one bit, even if that question did stir something in you.
You're in the same state as he is.
Embarrassed to admit the reason.
But what's different with your reaction is that you know how to keep calm and collected, you're just so good at masking your feelings while the guy sitting beside you on the other hand, has zero skills to hide all of that and honestly, he can be marked as the most expressive man you will ever encountered.
“I have the right to tell you or not,” You stated bluntly. It's like you're threatening him to not question you further because if he does, he'll be dead and will be sent to the ER instead.
And to your disbelief, that didn't intimidate him, “Is that so? Then… I shouldn't even have said mine in the first place!” He accidentally screamed, which had caused the other patients in the clinic to shush him in anger.
You furrowed your eyebrows at him, not exactly mad that he's annoyed with you (apparently it's somehow valid to you) but what baffles you most is the intensity of his scream that at this point, he can just be a football coach, screaming in the field to make sure the players listen to his orders.
“Why are you screaming?” You asked calmly, still you wore the same expression and your tone stays monotonous as per usual.
“Because I can!” Again, people around him are shushing him.
“Madarame, if you scream one more time…I'll make sure you get sent to the hospital instead,” Now, you started to glare at him and your tone shows that you're starting to get irritated.
But it's more infuriating to see that his expression doesn't show any signs that he's scared or anything, he's just genuinely looking surprised instead and yet again, he's making you befuddled … like this man sure is full of surprises.
“You know my name?”
Is he serious right now?
Is this guy for real?
You respond to him with just a click from your tongue. This guy is hella annoying and the fact he is not even trying to understand your words before, it's like he has a problem with his attention span or he has bad comprehension skills that he shifts his focus to your words about something else instead.
“Are you angry with me?”
No, I'm so happy I'll literally throw a feast in this clinic if I'm berserk enough.
You kept quiet, not bothering to answer neither of his two questions. Because all of them should be questions that he obviously knows the answer.
Of course, you know his name, he's infamous in your school. A delinquent with a not-so-good reputation and loitering around most of the time. He's literally one of those S-62 generation delinquents which you may not know much in detail but you know that they are the type of people that others shouldn't fuck with.
But here you are.
Unintentionally being associated with him.
And are you angry?
Yes, you definitely are. All because of the unnecessary screaming he has done and making a fuss in this clinic. He is effortlessly disrespectful and it's like he lacks common sense. You bet that he can't even read social cues or even understand sarcasm language.
Goodness sake.
This guy sure is a piece of work. Was it really worth it saving him all this time?
That's kind of mean of you to think actually.
He was just being irritating…but that doesn't mean he deserves to get that unnecessary or too much of a beating from 10 people that were nothing but merciless.
So again.
You both stay silent. If you try to converse one more time, you are 100% sure you both will get kicked out of the clinic, solely because Shion won't stop screaming when he's arguing with you.
Just as you two had now settled down and not said a word to each other, all of the sudden, the other door that was beside the clinic room’s door that you two were waiting abruptly opened and there you saw an assistant peeking her head out of the door.
“214!”
Oh.
Well.
That's his number, right?
Who would have thought there would be miracles like this to happen?
Even Shion himself was surprised. Things like this will never or even dare to step in his life. When he says something is once-in-a-lifetime, he literally meant it ever happened once.
Now come to think of it.
Did this happen because you're here?
Do you actually have a lucky charm in you?
Oh my. Now there's no way it can be like this because of your presence here…It might just be one of those extremely rare lucky days that he's having. Shion sure knows how much of an unfortunate bastard he is and he believes his luck is little and runs out easily and it could be this is the very last one he'll ever have for the rest of his life.
“Well…guess today is my lucky day,” He said so arrogantly and as he was standing up from his seat, he suddenly lost balance and almost fell back into his seat.
But lucky for him, you are there to grab his arm and save him from such misery…or even more cruel to say, adding more wounds to himself.
“Don't get on your high horse now, Madarame,” You said in irritation. You sure were not having how careless he can be and he was getting too excited for just having his number being called upon to the next clinic room.
Yeah sure, he's lucky indeed. But that doesn't change the fact how busted up his condition is.
You then wrapped his arm around your shoulder, just like you did just now as you were bringing him to the clinic. “I wonder what would have happened if I didn't stay here?” You muttered softly and you didn't intend for him to hear it.
But he sure did.
And he doesn't want to admit how your words send butterflies into his stomach. This probably stemmed from getting neglected and forgotten his whole life so that's why such a gesture had made him feel things.
But of course, Shion prefers being ‘himself’ in every situation he's in so he counters back your words, “I'll be fine if you weren't here! I'm so used to being–”
You shush him as you both finally reach the clinic room door and still, even at this moment where you can just go back home…you choose to stay and wait for him.
The doctor was busy checking and tending his wounds while you just watched the scene like it's a show, patiently sitting at the provided seat with arms crossed.
As the doctor was putting on antiseptic on the edge of his lips that was bleeding, all of the sudden, he said an unexpected statement, “They say you shouldn't date people that likes getting into fights,”
That automatically made you furrow your eyebrows. The doctor was not even acknowledging your presence at first and didn't even say a single word to you before. Hell, his eyes were all focused on Shion and you were fine of him not noticing you.
But now, with his gaze already upon you, you know for sure that sentence was directed to you and he is hoping for a response from you.
“Who said I'm doing that?” You raise a brow, not having the heart and strings to be decent right now as his sentence before sure was making you confused and somehow… pissed .
Now, it's the doctor's turn to be confused. He turned his neck to Shion’s direction who is still sitting on the bed and then he moved his gaze back at you, “He's not your boy–”
“No,” You cut him off quickly, knowing damn well what exactly he is about to say, “He's just a guy I know from school,”
You say all of that bluntly. Not even bother to hide or just get on with this so called ‘funny’ joke that this doctor is trying to pull.
He then grinned after hearing your response and he let out a chuckle. As he diverted his gaze back to Shion, a smirk plastered on his face and he said, “You're not denying it?”
Shion in an instant felt uncomfortable with his gaze on him and quickly he saved himself, “Y-yeah. I'm not her boyfriend…” He cleared his throat and tried to not be obvious with what he's actually feeling at the moment.
It would be a lie if he says that the doctor's statement before didn't make him feel embarrassed. And fuck his genes for giving him pale skin that just a mere blush can be prominent on his cheeks for people to see.
“I can go on my own actually,” His tone sounded snobby, “I don't know why she bothered to help me. I told her many times that she can go home if she wants but she wanted to stay,”
After letting out a mocking chuckle, Shion proceeded to say the most unexpected (cringeworthy) sentence you have ever heard someone say to you.
“Guess I'm too hard to resist,”
The doctor let out a boisterous laugh after hearing his bold statement while you have no idea how to describe your expression at the moment. You were bewildered and left speechless, totally went blank because of his unbelievable his words were.
All you managed to do was blink your eyes a few times and had your jaw was slightly open. You can't even come up with an insult or a retort to get back at him, you were just too shocked.
What the fu–
“Well that's enough to tell that you two will be something ,” The doctor said after he finished laughing, too amused with Shion’s joke before…might as well exaggerate that it's been a long time since he had a good laugh.
Now it's your turn to be embarrassed. But the way you cope with it was different from how Shion did. He went on to say statements that exceed your expectations but you on the other hand, all you can do is just get irritated than you already are…purposefully to mask the abashed feeling creeping inside you.
You do feel like you want to flee out of this clinic and never say a damn word to Shion again. I mean…obviously, after him saying that…does he really think that you wouldn't be pissed?
The fact that he thinks this is amusing and maybe you're overreacting but you don't care, you do feel humiliated in front of the doctor.
Maybe it will have been better for you to just ignore him and leave him be. This situation will never exist if you choose to do so.
So you just kept quiet, but you were sending death threats to him through your stares. It's like if he were to look at you properly or even have the ability to read your mind, the only thing he will find is how you were plotting to commit homicide by making it look like an accident to him.
Well.
Shion knew he was fucked.
All he intended to do was mess around and he was grinning because it was entertaining to tell that joke.
But his smile surely fades in an instant when he reciprocates your stares…and that's where the word ‘doom’ was the only thing left in his dictionary at the moment.
Oh, shit.
