Chapter Text
Before reading- Disclaimer:: All of these characters will be slightly out of character. They are more like their fanon personas, and I can't help the way they were written. I hope that this story accurately portrays how this song makes me feel about this ship. Reminder, don't drink and drive because I will find you. Cheers, and enjoy the angst
--------------------
The music and the lights of the club pulsed, and flashed.
“Another one of the same Bartender!” a mohawk swayed with the raise of a glass. As a shot of bourbon was poured into his glass, a new song blasted through the club's speakers.
*an hour and a half later*
“Alright Johnny, you’ve had enough. I’m officially cutting you off. You should get back to the barracks.” The bartender took the shot glass away from Johnny, who attempted to swipe it back.
“But m not crunk~” His words slurred together. Blinking heavily, he fished for his wallet, muttering under his breath. Paying the tab, Johnny stumbled out to the parking lot. He stood outside the club, fishing for his keys.
“You shouldn’t drive, military boy. You’d cause an accident.” The bouncer grumbled. Johnny whirled around, clearly dissatisfied with the response.
“Don’t be ridiculous, I’m not hammered. I’ll get some water first.” He shook his head and walked to the gas station across the street. After purchasing some water and a chocolate bar, he walked back to his car.
“Don’t worry Soap, the base isn’t that far. You can take it slow, and you’ll be fine.” He got in, and started the car.
Chugging the water, and taking a few bites of the chocolate, he stuck the base car in reverse and pulled out of the parking lot.
*four minutes later*
“Argh, dang it. Price is gonna be mad.” Red and blue lights flashed in the rearview mirror.
The doors to the holding cell shut, and the officer began the holding paperwork. Soap cleared his throat.
“Yes, drunkie?” the officer responded, groaning.
“Can I get my phone call?” Soap rubbed the back of his neck.
“We already contacted your base commander, but you can get a phone call.” He took out the cell keys, and walked Johnny over to the phone on the desk. They sat him down and waited for him to dial.
~~~
Picking up the phone, I dialed Simon’s number. With shaky hands, I pulled the receiver up to my ear, waiting for him to pick up. It rang. Once, twice, thrice… It rang seven more times. The receiver clicked, like someone had picked up. My heart was pounding.
“This is Ghost, if you called this number, either you made a mistake or you made a mistake. Don’t call again.” A gruff, British voice spoke. Voicemail. The beep sounded, so I cleared my throat and left a message, knowing I’d see him in a few hours anyway.
“Ghost. It’s Johnny. I- I’m sorry. I know we had our skuffle earlier, but I got into trouble. Once Price brings me back, I want to talk. Please. I’m sorry.” The message clicked, cutting me off. It’s not like I had much else to say anyways. I put the receiver down.
“Not much of a friend if he left you hanging. Sorry kid.” The police officer took me back to the holding cell, where I waited for Price to show up.
Maybe it was because I was drunk, not quite sober, but working my way there, but I started crying. I almost didn’t realize, because my face was cold from the lack of heat in the station. He ignored my call. He always keeps that phone on him for emergencies, especially when we’re off duty. I fucked up, badly.
An hour went by before I heard the captain’s rough voice.
“I’m here to pick up Johnathan MacTavish.” Yikes, my full first name. He’s mad. The officer from before came to get me, took my handcuffs off and walked me to the collections desk. I got my wallet, keys, phone and watch back. And there stood the captain. An angry, but gentle look on his face, eye bags and beanie. I must have looked rough, because he took me by a gentle hand and led me to the car.
“I’m sorry captain. It wasn’t far to the base, I thought I could make it, but I messed up.” I hung my head in shame. I knew I had fucked up, drunk driving was illegal after all. I’m just lucky they gave me a warning and took me back to the station to get someone else to drive me. Price sighed. We both got in the car.
“Ghost didn’t answer, did he?” He stated. Turning over the ignition, we began to drive back to base. I shook my head.
“No. Go figure though. He broke it off anyways. Why should I expect him to pick up a phone call at two in the morning anyway.” I put my head in my hand and looked out the window as we drove. It had started to rain while I was being held. The droplets left wonderful colors on the window, the lights of the city illuminating the designs.
“He’s been up all night in the rec room. He’s upset, can’t sleep, but won’t stay in his room. He even sent Roach away when he tried to talk to him, well, sign to him.” I knew it was serious. Roach is one of the people that Ghost never sends away.
“Son, why do you do this to yourself? You go out, get drunk and make mistakes. It’s one of your habits. As your captain and as your friend, I don’t like to see your self-destructive habits.” Price complained. We turned left, into the base parking.
“Price. I’m not proud of what I’ve done, believe me. I try to change, but the hole just gets deeper. I don’t want to be without him, hell, they called you, I called him. I was drunk, and alone, and all I wanted was Simon. But he wasn’t there for me. I’d die for him, but he won’t for me. That’s clear now.” I huffed, and got out of the car, stumbling towards the barracks.
*The Next Morning-Another Day Off*
Price walked into his office that morning. He had to deal with the paperwork from Soap's arrest that early morning. Coffee in hand, he sat down with an ‘oof’, noticing a letter that wasn't there last night. A note was attached to the envelope, that read ‘Captain, read this note, then store the letter somewhere safe.-Johnny’
Price set his coffee down, and opened the note.
‘Captain. I have written this letter in my post sober haze. This letter is for Ghost, in the event something serious happens to me. You can read it, I haven’t sealed it yet. I know that he and I are done, so this is my emergency letter. Thank you for being my friend last night.’
Eyes getting a little wider as he read the note, he opened the letter, prepared for a worse letter.
‘Ghost, Simon. Love.
I remember that I wished I could forget you, when we fought. You made a promise you would. But it was raining last night, and I called you, drunk. Without you, I'm half the man I used to be. I’m not proud of the punches I threw, and I’m sorry. As that one saying goes, we’re young and drunk. Although I wouldn’t consider us young anymore heh. I tried to call you last night, and I know you ignored it, I don’t blame you. The traffic lights and the sirens were so discombobulating I forgot what to do. I didn’t like how they threw me in the car, I wish I had given your name as my emergency phone call. When I called, it rang and rang, even the officer thought you were rude for not picking up. I forgive you. But what you don’t know Si, is that I drove drunk, I dialed drunk, all because I’d die for you. I’ve become a danger to myself, as I’m afraid you may have as well. I know you don’t cope well, so I’m writing this letter. Price asked why I do this to myself, I didn’t have an answer.
What I wish I could have told you, is that no matter what, apart or together. I’d do everything for you. I’d rot with the murderers in the cells of the prisons, I’d even change my lineage for you.
I would die for you Simon. I love you.
Johnny
