Chapter 1: A full heart

Chapter Text

It’s was officially Christmas Eve! How exciting! Everyone can’t wait to open presents, hangout with their loved ones, eat as much food as possible and watching Christmas movies. Yes all that sounds so appealing, but he didn’t care about that. Not to say he didn’t actually like all that, just to say that he wasn’t fully paying attention to any of that.

Yamato was checking himself one more time before leaving the house. He grabbed a small medium present, putting it in his bag, as he walked into the entryway. He put on his shoes before calling out to his sister and mom that he was going out and will be back soon. He was on his way to meet his newly found boyfriend! Just the thought alone made his stomach fill with butterflies, and make him giggle. He felt a smile creep into his lips as he got closer to their meet up spot. Well technically, he got there 5 minutes earlier. He liked being earlier than the actual time, to recollect his thoughts, totally not for him to mentally prepare. He couldn’t wait for his … boyfriend to arrive. He still couldn’t believe that he is officially dating the boy, whom he loved as a kid, the boy whom never left him and continued being his friend through the years, and whom is now allowed to call him, his boyfriend.

He broke out of his thoughts when someone with light brown haired boy caught his attention. He seemed to be running, which made Yamato slightly confused. “Wa! I’m - so sorry for being late! I had to - clean my siblings - before leaving!” He apologized. He was out of breathe and pushed in between his words. Yamato only smiled and chuckled. “Fufu its okay. I was zoned out for a while. ” Kakeru frowned slightly and looked at Yamato for any clues as to why he was zoned out for so long. Apparently Yamato notice and quickly reassured him that it wasn’t any bad thoughts. “I was just thinking about you actually.” Yamato smiled, which made Kakeru’s face grow red. “O-oh! Uhm that’s cool, I guess.” He started looking at the floor as his words got quieter at the end. Yamato couldn’t help but thing how adorable Kakeru looked right now. Ever since they got together and started going out on dates, it was very easy to make Kakeru blush. It wasn’t a bad thing though, Yamato enjoyed the sight of seeing Kakeru caught off guard and his red blushing face only made him cuter. He liked that side of him. Or maybe those small moments where it would be just Yamato and Kakeru against the word. Yamato cherished those small moments, hoping to create more. Perhaps today too.

“-amato! Yamato!” He broke out of his thoughts when he heard Kakeru calling out his name. “Huh? Oh! Im sorry.” He apologized. He looked around and realized that their still standing where they met up. He started feeling guilty for zoning out and that they haven’t moved since their meet up. “Oh I’m so sorry, should we get going?” He heard a soft sigh coming from Kakeru, but he nodded. As they walked, Kakeru decided to speak up again. “Are you sure you’re okay? You zoned out twice in the span of fifteen minutes. I-I mean I’m not trying to assume but by the looks of it, something seems to be bothering you.” He gave Yamato a worried look as he started to fidget with his hands. His heart fluttered at the thought of Kakeru being worried for him. “Yea, I’m very sorry about that. Like I said, it’s nothing bad, or more so it’s about you.” He looked at Kakeru with a soft smile, trying to reassure him that everything is okay and that he was fine. “Well since you’ve been thinking about…me, is something wrong? Did … I do something wrong?” He looked up at Yamato with sad eyes. Yamato felt bad for finding his expressing adorable. He mentally apologized. “-Huh? Nonono! You did absolutely nothing. Its just -uhm how should I put this.” He thought for a moment as he recollecting his thoughts, before speaking up again. “It’s not that you did anything. Its just the thought of you that makes me happy, and that I’m very happy to be able to spend Christmas with you. Also the thought of me being able to call you my boyfriend-“ He stopped himself halfways knowing that if he continued, he might actually talk about Kakeru for hours, and he didn’t want that. He galanced at Kakeru, which seemed to startle him just a bit.

Oh.”

Ohhh.

He covered his face with his hands as He started to fall onto his knees. His head resting on just above his knees, trying to hide his face. “How can you just say that with a straight face !! For a moment I thought I did something to upset you.” He shouted, that came out slightly muffled. Yamato laughed at the sight. “I don’t think you would try to do anything to upset me, and even if you did, you would do anything to make me feel better. Isnt that right?” He crouched down to Kakeru’s level. Kakeru peeked his head a little bit, just about whereYamato could see his blushing face. “One day I might actually die just from you.” He glared at Yamato, even though he didn’t actually mean it. All Yamato could do was laugh at Kakeru’s flustered face that sent tingles down his body. “Please don’t, I would be very devastated.” He jokingly pleaded. He heard a soft giggle coming from Kakeru that made the butterflies in his belly flutter. This is one of those moments where it was just him and Kakeru, and no one else around them seemed to be important. Just the two boys, sharing a very heartwarming moment. A moment where Yamato would cherish this forever. Everything seemed so perfect-

*growl!*

They heard a noise, coming from Kakeru’s stomach. How long has it been for one of them to be hungry? Is it noon yet? Those thought were discarded when Kakeru stomach growled again. “Oh sorry. I must’ve forgotten to eat something when I left the house.” He apologized shyly. “That’s fine. I’m also getting a little hungry and besides, we both really needed something to bring us back to reality. Let’s go eat. I heard they opened up a new coffee shop around here.” Yamato helped Kakeru back on his feet. He held Kakeru’s hand for a couple of moments before letting go. He felt a bit disappointed that he let go, but it qas for Kakeru’s sake. He still wasn’t very comfortable being affectionate in public, and Yamato respect that. They started walking to their destination.

“So what do they have at this new cafe?”Kakeru decided to strike up a conversation as they walked. “Hmm. I heard there’s pastries there, to go along with the coffee. I heard that they’re really good and would recommend it” Yamato looked at the reviews that left positive messages. “Ooo~ That sounds yummy.” Kakeru giggled, that made Yamato’s heart speed up. “It sure does.” Yamato smiled softly at Kakeru. They fell into a comfortable silence. They just walked, close by each other, both hearts full of love by the other, and both being very happy to be able to spend Christmas Eve together.
