Chapter Text
"Have you ever felt that life is short?" "Remember that you are mortal, remember that you must die".......
"wtf are you talking about Roxanne"
Says the white-haired boy next to her, he was no doubt judging her at that moment as she sit beside him
"Come on, don't look at me like I'm crazy or something, you know what I mean, I mean, have you ever been afraid of dying with regret?"
The boy was silent for a moment at the words his friend had just said…"die regretting" how if that happened but one is too young to die. His thoughts quickly went away when a familiar stranger walked through the door
"So...I missed today's existentialist talk?"
Said the boy with the badge on his shirt
"Oh, hey Mirth, you're late, Kiki had already gone crazy preparing the food, I offered to help but he doesn't want me to touch the kitchen"
The girl says with a mocking tone in her voice to catch the attention of the aforementioned while getting up from the chair
"Shut up, if you already know how I am, why are you complaining? It may not matter, how did work go bro?
Kiki says as he also gets up to go to the kitchen while Roxanne follows him
Mirth sat down leaving his vest on the chair feeling exhausted due to the work he handles
"Ugh, not much to comment on. Mike was moved from one department to another, now instead of spending all day killing each other on the streets, he is now in the investigation department, Ugh I'd probably suck Valentino off for that"
He says as he grabs a glass that was on the table,
drinking from it until he spits out a little
"Kiki what the hell is this?! Bleh how disgusting I thought it was coffee"
"Uh no, it's herbal tea, it's for Roxanne because she came into the house at 6am saying she had a migraine"
He says with a noticeable annoyed tone although without the intention of offending while the aforementioned laughs in the background
"Oh Mirth, weren't you on the disappearance case from a week ago?"
"Yes, that's right, why the question? We haven't made much progress on the issue...NOT IF IT WASN'T FOR VALENTINO TOLD US HALF OF OUR STAFF AND MOVED THEM TO THE OTHER DEPARTMENT FUCK OFF"
Kiki came up behind the boy to hit him on the head
"But we're not talking about that son of a bitch, relax, remember that tomorrow we're going to the aquarium, I wouldn't want you to get stressed on your day off"
He says as he sits on the chair at the side of the table, taking a bite of the food
"Well, I guess you're right."
He sighs and looks at the girl next to him drinking the tea and getting up from the table hurry
"Are you leaving already Roxy?"
Mirth asks, tilting his head slightly as he asks the question
"Oh I'm sorry, it's just that I have to go to work ha..they changed my schedule and I have to get there as early as possible."
She says while tying her hair in a bun
"Kiki!"
"just don't break my motor"
He interrupts her as he gets up from the table to wash the plate
The girl smiles as the sound of the motorcycle starting up and moving away can be heard in the background
"So are you going to tell me why you are like this Kiki?"
"You're not usually so serious"
Mirth says as he unties his ponytail
"I was just thinking about stuff, you know, existentialist shit"
Kiki stops before speaking again
"Are you afraid of dying?"
He says as he finishes washing the dishes and lights his cigarette
"Kiki-"
"I SAID NO SMOKING, NOT IN MY HOUSE"
He says as he puts his hands on his arms clearly looking criticizing the boy in front of him.
"BUT THIS IS MY HOUSE TOO" He says before putting out his cigarette "I'm sorry"
Mirth sighs and stands beside him to finish arranging things before speaking again
"I'm always afraid of dying, but I'm more afraid of seeing someone die. Even though I see more corpses than usual, I'm still afraid."
It was my fault..
