Work Text:
They were in the classroom, they always slept in class (or would try to) to avoid interacting with the other monsters or stimulation from outside
Kris began to flap their hands quickly, the noise that was beginning to increase in the classroom did not let them concentrate and align any thoughts.
Too loud too loud too loud too loud…
They could only think about that. They were sure that if they was forced to talk or asked to leave the classroom, they would start crying. Just keep your throat tight, sooner or later everyone will have to go away and leave you alone. It's something temporary…
They see someone approaching their seat, Kris doesn't quite understand who it is since looking into their eyes is not an option and they remain crestfallen. They didn't realize it but they started sobbing, their legs shaking. The worst thing is not being able to control it. How would you even do it? No one seems to want to help you.
There are one or two voices speaking to them. They suspects that miss Alphys has already noticed. She always does it too late, she can't shut anyone up in time. That bothered them more.
Kris can't take it anymore. They think they lost control of their own body (again…), they are sure they made “a scene” when they ran out of the classroom. They felt dizzy, very dizzy. The rain in their eyes didn't allow them to see well either.
It's on the floor, in front of some lockers. They tries to calm himself by making repetitive movements with their entire body.
It was very difficult for them to maintain a constant breathing. They usually stops breathing when they decide not to cry, that only makes things worse.
Kris begins to feel the presence of another person next to them, they just wanted to be in peace! And disappear from the face of the earth for at least a while.
Kris could feel the other person sit next to them, they deduced it was Susie from her voice. But they couldn't understand what she was saying...
Susie only said one word; "Hug?"
The idea of maintaining physical contact with another living being suffocated them, but at the same time being able to feel the weight and heat of another monster comforted them in situations like these. It was like hugging a pillow, right?
Kris doesn't know how long they stayed hugging Susie very tightly. They cried, screamed, and sometimes even hit her out of frustration...it didn't seem to bother Susie.
They didn't know if there were more people around; they didn't want to know.
Until his mother Toriel arrived, whom they recognized by the smell of pie that somehow always lingered, and her soft voice, always kind to everyone. Kris tried to get up from the floor to go with Toriel, who made things easier by crouching down and opening her arms to receive her human child. Their crying became a long, sad sob again.
They didn't remember how but then they were in the car. Toriel next to them.
Kris wanted to say so many things but... nothing came out of their mouth. They knew that if they tried hard they would cry; Kris was too tired.
Toriel just sighed and gave them a soft look. "Let 's go home".
