An unknown moment in an unknown light, but still feeling right.

Notes:

Just a little one shot for a ship that peaked my interest and in lieu of this holiday season I finally decided to post after writing it weeks ago lol. Enjoy!

Work Text:

An unknown moment in an unknown light, but still feeling right.

Marie stood alone within a shattered realm, separated by shards of memories not hers, but one imprinted upon her mind.  She, upon her bloodless throne, carves a path through others’ blood. She wasn’t made of skin, but of organs of many forms, vying to create a body of collective greatness or madness.

Her footprint imprinted about the white stainless hall, scarlet and beckoning for all to look upon and behold- in all its careful painting and reckless abandon of power and hidden things, not wanting to be seen.

What was she doing? She thought as her hands stretched out, playing a symphony with her fingers of which this stranger's blood danced in harmony with, thrumming and singing in response to her call.

She felt her life essence was hers to control and she was scared but it was working.  It was working.  Even as fear gripped and oozed from her heart at how wrong this could go. She was sure, as things stitched back together and red flowed back into what was its founding vessel.

She breathed shakily then, a sigh heartfelt, escaped her lips. Unknown and silent, but strong enough to be felt anyways.  Just like she always was.  And just as she always is.

She didn’t feel it, not until that moment at least, a hand upon her shoulder.  They looked at her like she meant everything.  Like she was- the moment .  Like she was beautiful.   It was Jordan, their smile shaky and overwhelming.

Eyes that looked at her like she was the whole star system bursting and forming into a being- made perfect in barely contained beauty.   It softened, gentle and easy.  And she felt her muscles unclench, just like that.

“Are you okay?” Jordan asked in a whisper.  Worship filled their whispers and she didn’t know how to feel about it.   All she could do was nod as she fell drunkenly into that abyss of an eye, unknowing of what was willingly allowed to form in that quiet solitude that blanketed her.

Flashes lighted up the room, disrupting the all too suddenly lost moment.  Chants of ‘hero’ filling the nooks and crannies that could not be reached before, as she found herself dragged away, realizing all too late what happened.

Lights lit up the room, sounds came rushing back in.  An ear pop, eyes twitching and the moment gone before it was even there.

Jordan came back for her.

The probability of falling in love was clearly guessed, even still- it wasn’t up to either of them.

Perhaps sands scattered across the winds they inhaled or crushed stars surrounding them that neither of them could exhale.

None of it mattered though within the eyes that they lost themselves so easily to.  Love has no cause or effect. No reason or comprehension.

Jordan had always been calculative and calm. Never one to let their judgment be clouded or distorted.

Maybe that was the reason they felt it deep within their soul what this was beginning to be.  Whatever it already was.

An unraveling.  In that way, Marie was burning hotter than they could ever have burnt, fighting more strongly than he ever had. Steadier and more confident than she had ever felt.

And they knew- that they wanted…

Wanted in a way, an oasis became an ocean in the desert.  Wanted in a way that left them breathless.  Wanted in a way that left them without thoughts or shapes and unseeming forms.

The future was clear when Jordan was left alone to map it out, crossing the unwanted and twisting and turning to avoid pitfalls.

It wasn’t as clear when he was with her.  They couldn’t quite hold a compass to determine if she would be mad at them and spite them, tolerate them or hold fast onto them like she believed them her whole world.

If they allowed themselves to slip while walking upon that water, would Marie pull them up? It was like a plot, trying to prove their sincerity, while masking it up with lies and anger.

It’s conniving, it’s devious, but for some reason it left them exposed, wanting her to play, wanting to know if the one who bent blood would pull her out of this puzzle made of blood splatter.  Could she love them? The thought ran across her mind and it left nothing but sighs and distraught.

A gust of wind blows the moon’s reflection in the water.  Who plucks the stars from the sky like red fruits? Crushes them just to spread them upon red stained snow?

Who sours your kiss with the salt of their tears? And gives you sweetness alongside fears?

She was a criminal in their eyes dancing amongst blood spatters, but she was the only one that mattered.

A question, an answer.  A wrong made right.

Notes:

I may continue this and make it a series of hidden moments and twists of some scenes in the show. Let me know what you think! Thank you:)
