Work Text:
Sometimes Idia believed his situation to be unreal. He didn't have his hopes up for his future, expecting to be alone in the Island of Woe, just him and Ortho taking responsibility for S.T.Y.X. after graduating. But that didn't turn out to be the case.
Having met you, his life changed. He couldn't believe how someone like you would choose him to be your partner. It felt unreal. Idia thought he was in a dream, waiting to wake up to reality. But it never happened, he never woke up to the supposed 'reality'.
But he so desperately wished this was a dream.
Idia couldn't deal with the news of your death. It was too much. Whatever hope he had gathered in all the years with you were now gone down the drain, making him revert back to his overly pessimistic views, feeling as depressed as ever.
He locked himself in his room, not able to face the world and the truth. He first lost Ortho, now you. What could he possibly have done for this to happen? The curse seemed to let Idia get a taste of happiness and a glint of hope just to snatch it back away.
Months were spent locked inside, Idia never to be seen around S.T.Y.X. People believed he might've taken his own life after the tragic news, rumors and speculations circling around the facility. That rumor soon died out, having seen documents and updates related to work from the Director, Idia himself.
The months he spent in isolation, spent on games and work seemed to blur and wash away as Idia's days had become meaningless and bleak. If idia were to be questioned about this time his mind would draw a blank. He had forgotten what exactly he has been doing, only knowing he had done the usual, playing games and wasting his time on distractions that didn't seem to help with his grief at all.
Countless times Ortho had tried to help Idia, to make him go outside of his room as a start. It was in vain ultimately. Idia never opened the door and didn't want to consider Ortho's advice, all falling to deaf ears.
Eventually Idia had to leave the confines of his room. Walking out to refill his supply of sweets, and to also grab some vitamins since Ortho was adamant on having Idia walk out of his room to get them himself. He understood Ortho's motive behind his choice, Idia had spent so much time locked away in his room, concerning everyone.
Walking in the middle of the night, hoping to not meet with any of the workers, Idia not having the energy to speak with anyone. The lights on the hallways were blinding him, burning his eyes with the light he hadn't seen for a while.
Idia fetched what he needed and rushed to get back to his room. Until his eyes saw the silhouette of a person standing in the middle of a hallway that led to his room, stopping Idia on his tracks. The figure turned around, both their gazes meeting and resulting in Idia dropping the snacks to the ground.
His eyes widened with shock as he stared at the too familiar face. One question swarmed around his mind with a slight glint of hope:
Were you really alive?
