"Hurry up, we're gonna miss the fireworks!" Kipo called from the top of the hill.
Her family was still making their way up, taking their sweet time. Kipo was bouncing in excitement, barely able to contain it.
She would get to see fireworks for the first time, this time with her family as a whole. She was excited.
When her family finally made it to the top of the hill, Kipo was sitting down on the snowy grass. Her winter pants kept her from soaking her clothes.
"Only a few minutes left!" Lio commented a she looked at the clock wrapped around his wrist.
Wolf and Benson sat down on either side of Kipo. Mandu was on Wolf's lap, looking up towards the star-covered sky. Dave was by Benson's side, talking about how cold it was and how he wished he had a jacket.
Kipo smiled and let her gaze wander down to the city. She could see the people gathering to watch the fireworks.
11:58. It was almost time.
She had been through so much in the last year. It wasn't too long ago that she had been a normal burrow girl. She was thankful for all of the friends that she had made along the way. She knew that she would never have made it that far without them.
She had grown a lot in only a year, and she was excited to see how much more she would grow now when her life had turned out exactly how she had wanted it to.
With her family by her side, she felt like she could do anything.
11:59.
Her life had only just started. There was so much more for her to see. To explore. She had an entire world in front of her, not just Las Vistas. She wanted to see what was beyond the small city where everything started.
A new year was ahead of her, with new experiences and more adventures. She couldn't wait to see what else her future had in store. And with her family by her side, she knew that she would be able to do anything.
Because they were the reason she was there in the first place.
"THREE. TWO. ONE. HAPPY NEW YEAR!" they cheered as the fireworks finally took off, coloring the sky in every color imaginable.
Kipo's eyes reflected the fireworks. A big grin covered her face as she watched the fireworks in awe. For now, she just wanted to enjoy herself and her family.
Because whatever her future had in store for her, she knew that she had all the time in the world. She was in no hurry now when Las Vistas was safe and she had her favorite people with her. She had no idea what challenges would come her way - but she was certain of one thing.
That her family was all she needed.
