Kaylan and her older adoptive sisters are hosting the new year party for Mana One this year. Kaylan was really excited for the party of course. But her sisters especially Hadley knew the real reason on why Kaylan was excited. “Look, Lil Star, we know why you’re really excited for the party.” said Hadley. “Yeah!” said Adam. “Uh, I don’t know what your talking about.” replied Kaylan who was looking at her seven siblings. “We all know it’s Meiying, c’mon, admit it!!!.” teased Maureen. “Yeah, c’mon.” the others teased. “Alright, alright, I admit it, it’s because Meiying is coming.” replied Kaylan, face blushing red and glasses fogging up. “So, are you going to tell her your feelings for her today?” asked Alison. “Probably, I don’t know if it will be this year…” replied Kaylan gloomly. “It can be next year, Kay, who knows!” said Hazel. “Hazel, this has been happening ever since Kaylan was 12, every year, Kaylan says that she will confess on new year’s and it didn’t happened.” said Alison. “Oh, c’mon, Alie, Kaylan said that she will confess one day even it’s a couple years later and also, it’s been two years.” replied Hazel. Kaylan was burrowing her head in embarrassment. “Why do my siblings have to act like this is a big deal?!” thoughted Kaylan. “Guys, I am back with the white wine.” said Estella as she opened the door to see six of the siblings squabbling and Kaylan burrowing her head in embarrassment. “Hm, I knew this will happen again.” thoughted Estella as she went inside the house.

The party had started like 30 minutes ago and it was filled with a lot of laughter and noise. Since Kaylan and Meiying are the only ones that are under the legal drinking age, the two decided to hang out in the front yard of the found sisters’s house. “So, Kaylan, is there anything that you want to do for next year?” asked Meiying. “Oh, um, I really don’t have anything new yet for next year though, uh, what about you, Meiying?” asked Kaylan shyly as she sipped on her sprite. “Well, you know, wanting to help out Mana One.” replied Meiying, who turned her head to notice Kaylan looking at her. Kaylan’s face looked kinda flushed and she’s fidgeting her fingers. “Uh, Kay, are you alright?” asked Meiying, looking concerned. “Uh, Meiying, if you find out that someone especially if you know them had a crush on you, how will you react?” asked Kaylan, who wasn’t looking at Meiying. “Woah, uh, I really don’t know to be honest, though I will be surprised and shocked if I find out that someone has a crush on me, wait, Kaylan…”
Meiying looked straight at Kaylan’s eyes as she asked “Kaylan, do you have a crush on me?”
Kaylan turned away from looking at Meiying. Meiying is starting to realize that her best friend likes her more than a friend. “Hey, Kaylan, if it’s true, I promise I won’t be mad, though I don’t know how it will go.” said Meiying. “Well…” But before Kaylan can say anything, fireworks exploded into the air causing both girls to look up at the sky. Golden fireworks filled the sky. Even though both girls are looking up at the sky, staring at the golden fireworks, Kaylan turned to Meiying, who is still staring at the fireworks. For some reason, as Kaylan’s body has some type of odd energy in her. Kaylan leaned to kiss Meiying’s cheek. This caused Meiying to turn around to face Kayla, blushing. Kaylan, realizing on what she did, immediately ran away from Meiying and ran inside the house. Meiying touched the cheek that Kaylan kissed on and let out a small smile.

The party ended and it’s midnight. Kaylan plopped herself onto bed. “God, do they really had to make it that big of a deal that I kissed Meiying’s cheek” thought Kaylan frustratedly. “One message from Meiying Zhang” the ping voice from her phone said. Kaylan grabbed her phone from her nightstand and looked at the message.
Meiying Zhang: Happy New Year, Starry ^^
Xingchen let out a small smile as she texted back “Happy New Year to you too, Meiying”.
