Work Text:

The sun was starting to set in Eden. And on top of an abandoned building were two figures sitting on a blanket, talking and enjoying their juice boxes. The sun was starting to set.

“You really like these huh froggy.” Ramon said, finishing his juice box.

“Of course! It is made with the soul of fruits. N’êtes-vous pas d’accord?” Bullfrog said, with a smile. He pulled out another juice box.

“Hmm, sure. The soul of fruits, seriously, you come up with the most weirdest of ways of expressing stuff.”

“And you like it.” He said sticking out his tongue. Ramon smiled, before sticking the straw in his juice box.

“Yea, I do.”

Bullfrog smiled before looking back at the sky. Admiring the beauty of colors painted as if the sky was a canvass. Ramon could say the same about Bullfrog. The way his eyes, those beautiful small golden orbs, focused on the sky, the little twitch of his nose. His posture, still like a statue. His skin glowing by the setting sun. If he were to pay the most talented artist, in all of Eden, he doubts they would capture Bullfrog's beauty.

He still wore his assassin's outfit, it wasn't long ago that Eden had fallen, and had been reborn. Bullfrog still insists on keeping his weapons, believing not everyone was happy with the new Eden. And he had been right, sometimes they would get jumped, held at gunpoint or any other way those who still lived the old ways could think of.

“Ramon? Are you okay?” Bullfrog waved a hand in front of his eyes.

He blinked, before smiling.

“Yea I was admiring a painting. Heard it couldn't compare with the Mona Lisa.”

“But you were staring at me-” Bullfrog blushed and pulled his hood down. His hand cover Ramons eyes.

“C’etait ringard! You are too cheesy Ramon!”

Ramon laughed before pulling Bullfrog's hand to his lips.

“But you like it.” He kissed his knuckles. Feeling the coolness on his skin.

“Oui, I do.” He smiled, letting go of his hood before looking back up. No stars came up yet. The sun was still setting, with more of a purple taking over the colors.

“I thought that you didn't like the juice.” He brought up abruptly. Causing Ramon to smile.

“If I didn't like them, I wouldn't have finished three boxes already.”

“Oh, is that so. D’accord, sorry I came up with that assumption.” He teased, continuing to drink his juice.

“You are the one that bought these, mister fruit soul sucker.” He teased back.

“Ah, but that wasn't the only thing I can su-”
“STOP!!” Ramon yelled, one hand covering Bullfrog's face, while the other squeezed the juice box. Warmth creeped onto Ramons face.

“Est-ce que j’ai gagné? Are you embarrassed?” Bullfrog giggled.

“Yes! Froggy, you can't say stuff like that in public.” And he's usually the one trying to make Bullfrog embarrassed, usually by physical touches.

“Sorry mon amour. I couldn't resist, I had to get back at you for your remark earlier.” He held the floating hand in his. Tracing his palms.

“Yea, yea. You're forgiven.” He said, dropping the now empty juice box, before wiping his hand on his jacket. It was still a bit sticky, hopefully it doesn't the plans he had for tonight.

“Oui, thank you.” Bullfrog let go of his hand, before looking back up, a few stars started to pop out.

“Ah! Ramon look.” He pointed up. Going out to stargaze became one of their special outings. Mainly due to the light pollution back then, they couldn't see them. Ramon looked up.

“Would you tell me about the constellations again?”

“Always froggy.” He started to lay down. Patting the spot next to him. Bullfrog crawled over to him, laying next to him, his head and hand rested on his chest. He could hear his heartbeat. The sound became one of Bullfrog's favorites.

“Well then, over here you can see the stars that form….” He rehearsed what he learned in college. To the constellations, to the planets. It was one of his favorite topics he learned in school. How sailors would use the stars as a guide when they were at sea. Or the fact that most constellations had stories behind them.

“Would we see uh, comment s’appelait-il encore? Uhhh..” he snapped his fingers “The Little Dipper! That was the name, would we see that?”

Ramon smiled, “Not right now, but you can still see the Big Dipper.” He raised his hand. “Right…there.” He traced the handle, and circled the bowl. The sky grew dark a long time ago.

“Ahh, I know. But I wanted to see the Little Dipper.” He said, pulling Ramon closer.

“Just imagine the Big Dipper a little smaller.” He joked. Bullfrog looked at him, annoyance in his eyes, but a smile creeped out.

“It might not look the same Mon amour.” He looked back up again, watching the small jewels in the sky.

“Yea, you're right.” He rubbed his shoulder. The night wasn't really cold, but it did feel a little nippy. But it didn't harm Bullfrog, that's all that matters to Ramon. He clutched his pocket.

“Ya know we should clean up the juice boxes-”

“Ramon look!” Bullfrog sprung onto his feet and pointed up. “The stars are falling!”

“Oh yeah those are called ‘shooting stars’, nothing to be afraid about.” Ramon sat up.

“They say if you make a wish on a shooting star, it might come true.”

Bullfrog kept staring at the small stars passing by. It looked like rain in a way, if rain was shiny.

“A wish you say.” Bullfrog knew what wish he wanted to make. It was to be with Ramon, for as long as he can. No one could keep them apart, not Eden, not the ones who didn't accept the new Eden, not even death.

“Did you make a wish?”

Bullfrog opened his eyes and smiled.
“Oui, but I'm not gonna tell you-” he turned and saw Ramon on the ground, with a box in one hand.

“Ramon. Quoi- what are you doing?”

“Bullfrog. We have been together for two years now. And no amount of words, roses, gifts could express my love to you. So here's my promise to you.”

He opened the lid of the box, revealing a metal ring.

“I'll love you, for as long as time will allow.”

Because he ages differently. It was something he had to come to terms with, but he has this moment now.

“I'll outlive you, yes I know. But I don't care, because what matters is now. I'll love you, even in death I'll continue to love you. Above anything else.”

He took a deep breath. Just like he practiced.

“Tout comme maintenant, je’ t’aimerai même quand les étoiles tomberont.”

He looked into Bullfrog's eyes. The same eyes that once looked at him as a threat were now filled with love.

And tears.

“What do you say. Bullfrog, will you marry me?”

Bullfrog wiped his eyes, trying to keep himself together. Before jumping on him. Ramon lost his balance, causing him to sit down.

“Yes!! Yes I will! Ramon, je t’aime! Je t'aime!”
He hugged him, crying out in joy. Ramon hugged him back, tears already running down his cheeks.

Bullfrog sat back, while Ramon grasped Bullfrog's hand.

“Oh there is an engraving inside.”

Ramon, smiled.

“Yea, wanna read it.”

Bullfrog took the ring, inspecting the ring.

“Reste avec moi pour toujours. Oh Ramon.”

Ramon took the ring, and slid it onto Bullfrog's finger.

Bullfrog hugged him. Before looking into his eyes.

“Toujours, mon amour.”

He kissed him. He cupped his hands on his cheeks. He felt his loves hands on his waist. They broke away, and stared at each other. Before Bullfrog tackled him to the ground.

“When did you learn to speak French?”

Ramon kissed his forehead.

“I saw a book at a library, I practiced in secret to not ruin the surprise.” Bullfrog hummed, and looked to the sky, the stars stopped falling. He felt Ramons hands, rubbing his shoulder. His heart beat seemingly more faster than last time. He looked down and admired the ring.

Maybe wishes do come true.
