"Ok, look, have you seen how fine that girl was?" said a white-haired woman. Her light-colored hair complements her dark and chocolatey skin. I sighed, shaking my head. Her name was Rumi. We've been best friends since the tenth grade. Ever since people thought we were dating, no, we aren't.
"She was pretty; I'll give you that," I shrugged. "She seems too privileged."
I grinned as I dodged a smack to the back of the head. "Ok, Mr. Golden boy, too privileged, my ass. Look at you!"
I gave a fake frown and shook my head. We were on our way to a nearby coffee shop that Rumi saw on Instagram. Yah, not the best idea, but hey, trying something knew never hurt anybody. Rumi wore a white tank top and sweatpants with an unbuttoned baseball jersey; it belonged to me that she decided to have. I'm pretty sure she didn't even know who the team was—just that it said Hawks, which was a nickname she loved to give me. (It was cute until she started chirping at me.) On the other hand, I was wearing a black crewneck with some jeans.
As we walked,Rumi couldn't help but take pictures of the busy streets and stores we passed by,and no, we aren't visitors; we actually live here. We've both been living here since we were born; that's just how she operates. We walked further until she grabbed my elbow.
"We're here~" She said it in a sing-song voice, her red eyes glimmering.
She opened the glass door, and we stepped inside. As soon as we stepped through, we were washed over with a wave of air conditioning, and the sound of some alternative rock band played softly in the background. The interior was mostly made up of a few tables, a little lounge area in the corner, and, of course, where you take your order. The counter was set directly in the middle, and a few people were sitting down at the tables, chatting and eating.
I could feel Rumi practically vibrating next to me with excitement. "C'mon!" She whispered and yanked me forward towards the order counter. I tried my best to keep my feet under me as she pulled me carelessly. Once we made it to the front, we were greeted by a blonde-haired girl who had two messy space buns and a visor decorated with pins. Her apron was the same too. She looked at me and Rumi up and down before giving a wide grin that revealed two sharp canines.
"Hiya, welcome to the Leagues Cafe. What can I get ya?"
Rumi looked at me, and I motioned my hand towards the menu on the screen above. Toga(?), the girl's name plate read. Rumi stared at the screen for a moment before a man with snow-white hair walked out from the vack room towards Toga.
"Oi, crazy I was gone for one second, and you decide to take my shift," he growled.
The blonde-haired woman crossed her arms and frowned. "I needed something to do, and you were taking forever," she retorted.
My eyes looked at each of them as they bickered before Toga finally got up and walked away. The man turned to me and Rumi and rolled his eyes. "What do you want?"
"I'll get a black seasame foam latte with, um, a croissant."
The man lets out a huff before writing it down on a notepad, and looking at me, his eyes are an icy blue. His hair, now that I noticed it, wasn't fully white, but the tips were a light gray color. I opened my mouth to speak, but I couldn't. My face heated up, and I finally collected my words: "I-uhm...nothing. I'm fine"
I could see Rumi narrow her eyes and then smirk. The barista shifted a bit, stood up straight, and chuckled. I glanced at his name tag, Touya, pretty.
"Well, I'll get you your drink and nothing."
With that, the man-no, Touya, left to make Rumi her order. Before she could even say anything, I pulled her to the little table and sat her down. Her eyes widened as I sat her down in the chair and took my seat across from her. I could feel my face warm up slightly as she smiled. "It looks like someone thinks the barista's hot, huh, Keigo." I tried to brush off her comment, but deep down, I knew she was right.
"Shut up."
We went on bickering for a good thirty minutes before the man from before came holding Rumi's drink, croisant, and dango! Rumi placed a hand on my arm and nodded her head towards Touya, who looked taken back and... disappointed.
"Uh, here's your latte and croissant, and I brought out some dango since it's your guys first time here...or something," he whispered in the last part. I smiled softly as he placed the items down. Rumi studied him, then frowned at me when he walked away.
"What the hell was that?! You're just going to let him go?" Rumi's eyes were turned into slits, and her eyebrows were knitted together.
"What do you want me to say? Hey man, I think you're hot. Like, gorgeous, please date me! NO!" I said, pinching the bridge of my nose and placing my face in my hands. Rumi sighed, her frustration evident in her voice. "I just don't understand why you always let these opportunities slip away. You deserve to be happy, you know?" I looked up at her. (Okay, I know that, but, girl.)
"I just don't know how to make it happen," I admitted.
She smirked at me and grabbed a napkin. She grabbed a pen—where the hell did she get a pen?—and scribbled down something. Her tongue stuck out of the corner of her mouth, and then she handed me the napkin and said, "Give this to him."
I looked down at what she wrote.
Heyyyyy call me ;P cutieeee

I looked up at her in horror, my jaw hanging open. "R-Rumi!" I sputtered as she took a sip of her latte. She took another sip and waved me off. "Keigo, honey, please. The worst that can happen is that he says no. Then again, we're going to be coming here a lot more often; this shit is good!" I groaned. I can't do this, I thought. I could feel her still glaring at me, and I surrendered.
"Fine, fine. All I have to lose is my dignity. Not like I have it anyway."
I got up, grabbed the napkin, and looked around, searching for the snowy-haired man. I scanned the cafe, then my eyes spotted a quick glance of white, aha! I watched as Touya went behind the counter and into the backroom. Shit! Shitshitshitshitshit! I picked up my pace and made it to the front. I sighed and hung my head.
"HI, oh, you're that blondie. What can I do for you?"
I jumped as a familiar young face popped up from behind the counter. Toga's hair looked even more messy, and her eyes were a golden yellow.
"H-Hi, uhm, do you think I can talk to Touya?" I said in a soft tone. That made her eyes light up; she grinned wider than earlier.
"Touya, huh? Well...he's on break, but I can transfer a message."
My face fell, before she could notice, I put on my "Rumi's taking a picture, smile before she beats you" smile.
"Oh, well, that's okay." Just as I was about to walk away, the man in question came waltzing back in. His white hair was ruffled, and he had an annoyed look on his face. His eyes deverted to Toga, then me.
"Am I interrupting something?"
The blonde girl snickered and nudged him towards the counter before strolling away. I bit my lip to stop myself from saying anything stupid. We both looked at each other without saying a word, and he raised an eyebrow. "Gonna say something or..."
Oh yah. I raised the hand that was holding the napkin and put my hand out. "I-Here, I-"
His blue eyes stared at me a minute longer before falling on my hand and the napkin. He grabbed the napkin from my hand, his fingers gently brushing against mine.
"DABI! GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE!" Came from the backroom. Touya sighed and shook his head. He smiled and pushed the napkin into his pocket before yelling back at the person and pushing his way through the door.
Quickly, I made my way to Rumi, who was now feasting on the last pastry.
"How'd it go?" she said, her mouth stuffed.
I shrugged and sat down, telling her the story. We stayed and chatted a little longer; there wasn't any sign of the barista. I felt disappointed as Rumi pointed out that we had to get back home to watch the game.
"C'mon, he'll text you sooner or later. Stop being so sad~" Rumi said as we made our way down the street back to her apartment.
"Yah, yah, I know... I just wish, I don't know."
We walked a bit further until I felt a buzz in my pocket. I stopped, and so did Rumi. She looked at me and smirked, wiggling her eyebrows. I pulled out my phone and opened it:
