Chapter Text
A diagnosis is not a death sentence. Or at least it doesn't have to be. This one came with visions of unending agony, suffering alone in the dark, taking handfuls of pills to dull the pain, pulling away from everyone she knew, and watching her life end in the shadows of a strange place. Koo Seo-gyeong decided she didn't want to live like that. She'd changed her destiny once before, when she was nine. She'd pulled herself out of the gutter, found her own family, walked a new path and put herself in a place where she could maybe find out who'd left her there. So why was fate trying to drag her back down again? Did it think she wasn't good enough? Her sister had risen from the fish markets to parliament before falling. Seo-gyeong wasn't even reaching that high. But then, she'd started from much lower. Orphaned, or maybe abandoned, she'd lived hand-to-mouth in the streets with no one to depend on but herself. But she didn't have to anymore. That was the whole point. So here, at a crossroads in her life, she chose her life. She was going to fight tooth and nail to get what she wanted--another chance to live. Again
