Welcome to Pantheonstuck.
This has been cooking up in my head for ages, and I hope you all like it! Most of the latter half of Homestuck, including the retcon and especially the ending, does not apply here, since I haven't read past a certain point and this AU's premise contradicts the ending.
After the kids and trolls defeated Lord English, they collectively decided to make a new Universe C and forget about the old one. This new Universe C would have both an Earth and an Alternia. All reared Bilious Slick this time, but Jade was in charge of creating the First Guardian for Earth, and Kanaya the First Guardian of Alternia. During this time, all of them ascended to God Tier. Once they all entered their new universe, however, they found themselves at the beginning of human and troll history, respective to the kids and trolls. Due to them being deities, religions were quickly formed around them- religions that rapidly outcompeted the others, due to the player-gods being material and active. These early monotheistic religions battled with one another until each player-god told the mortals to stop, and so was formed the two halves of one religion, each focusing on a different species' pantheon. The roles the gods picked up developed in to Domains, areas of existence they commanded influence over.
Soon, tired by babysitting the two species, the Gods used ectobiology equipment to create demigods- offspring born fom theirs and a random mortal's genetics. These demigods both carried a portion of their divine parent's power and could channel them in dire straits. The powers diminished both with the generations and with deviance from the 'prime' line- an unbvroken line of firstborns.
Now, in the modern day, the demigod lines are the Great Priests and Priestesses that command the great Temples of each God's worship. They are treated somewhat like celebrities. Even remote god-descendants so far removed from the prime line that an Egbert descendant could no more the winds caress them than the average person feel the breeze, often keep their godly ancestor's surname due to its associated prestige.
