Judging a book by its cover

Summary:

Just a little character analysis.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Aoi knew what people thought about her. They didn’t care for her, not truly, she could see it in the way they looked at her, the way they whispered around her, and the way they treated her. She was either adored or hated, and those who ‘adored’ her would quickly change their tune if she made one mistake or didn’t give them what they wanted. They were all fake, every single one of them, no one was an exception.

Being the coward she was she learned how to be fake as well. It wasn’t hard especially when people didn’t care enough about her to notice. All she had to do was act innocent and naive and anyone would believe her lies. If they didn’t care why should she?

Although she wondered if she did break, if she just screamed until her lungs burned, if she finally let everything out, would anyone care? Sometimes she wished someone would see through the facade. See past the pretty smile and the perfectly chosen appearance and see she was far from perfect, that being sweet and kind was a choice. And even after seeing how rotten and selfish she could be they’d still care for her.

She despised how much she wanted that, how much she cared despite trying so hard not to. Cause deep down she knew no one would love her if they knew the real her.

Notes:

Been wanting to write something from Aoi’s point of view for a while because of how interesting I find her. I know this is very very short, in the future I’ll probably dive deeper into her character but I thought this was a nice start. Hope it wasn’t too sad lol.
