Work Text:

It's a Saturday afternoon. Alhaitham and Kaveh, doing their leisure activities in the living room. Alhaitham engrossed in his book as usual, and Kaveh watching a drama series.

"Kaveh, the kitchen bin would overflow soon. Perhaps you could take it out?" Alhaitham looks at Kaveh, waiting for his answer. Kaveh answers, "In your dreams, Haitham.", rolling his eyes.

"Ah," he sighs. "I know you would say that. You're quite predictable."

"Shut up!" Kaveh turns his head to Alhaitham, his anger clearly visible.

"All right, I suppose I'll do it."

Alhaitham firmly closes his book and puts it on the coffee table.

"Well, finally doing other things than reading, huh?" Kaveh murmurs as Alhaitham walks to the kitchen. He heard it, but he just sighed it off.

Alhaitham pauses and later on his head turns onto Kaveh.

"What?" Kaveh says in annoyance.

Alhaitham sighs and rushes to Kaveh.

"Did you forget something? Your book?" Kaveh chuckles. But then Alhaitham leans in and parted his lips open against Kaveh's.

His ruby eyes widen in surprise, not knowing what to do, but he closes his eyes and feels the moment. Kaveh's hand grasp onto the side of Alhaitham's neck, their tongues connecting, and heartbeats synchronizing.

Alhaitham then pulls away, catching their breaths.

"Why'd you break the kiss?" Kaveh obviously is reluctant.

"I apologize.", He sighs.

"What for?"

"I just got caught in the moment. I.. I didn't expect for things to escalate this way." He admits, his voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty.

"Okay, then.. Pretend this never happened." He sighs in disappointment. "I'll get back to work. Also, take the trash out now."

Alhaitham thinks to himself that hopefully Kaveh would forget about it. However, he suddenly feels regret for not disclosing his feelings to Kaveh.

Kaveh retreats to his room and locked the door.

Alhaitham left the trash can open, and he walks slowly to Kaveh's room.

He knocks twice on the door. "Kaveh, are you alright?", Alhaitham asks with his voice slightly strained.

He was expecting an annoyed voice. However, it was radio silent.

Alhaitham did not even hear Kaveh working. He did not hear the tools, the blueprints touching, and Kaveh sighing.

It was odd enough for him to break his facade.

"Kaveh!" He blurted. "Answer me."

He still haven't heard a word from him. His hand forms into a fist, extremely worried and curious about him.

As Alhaitham was about to find the key to Kaveh's bedroom, the door suddenly opens.

Alhaitham quickly turns around and walked near him.

He was about to touch Kaveh, an embrace of some sort, but he hesitated to do so.

Kaveh was looking down, his hair messy. Alhaitham's gaze fixed upon his workplace, and it is messy despite of Kaveh being a perfectionist and a clean freak. It also seems that he did some work even when he was upset. Is it to distract himself from his emotions?

Nor one of them could say a word.

Alhaitham then noticed a tear dripping on Kaveh's cheek. He gently lifts Kaveh's chin up to see his face.

Their eyes met, but Kaveh avoided to look at him.

Alhaitham's eyebrows furrowed in worry. It hurts him to see Kaveh vulnerable. Kaveh's tears are running down his cheeks, his hands shaking.

A wave of guilt washes over him; his heart dropped.

"Kaveh, do you want to talk?"

Kaveh nodded, he made way for Alhaitham to come inside his room. He closes the door and sat on the bed.

"If.. if that kiss didn't really mean anything to you, why would you even.. do that in the first place?". Kaveh asks, his voice shaking.

"It's complicated to explain. I kissed you because I wanted to."

"I don't understand. You told me it meant nothing."

"I'm saying I like you, Kaveh."

𝘏𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴? (K)

"Look, you're right. It was a moment of uncertainty, and it confused you." Alhaitham takes a deep breath. "The point is, I've been hiding my true feelings to you. I deeply care about you, Kaveh. More than I care to admit."

"I'm sorry."

Kaveh's puffy eyes finally looked at Alhaitham in relief. He smiled a little when he heard Alhaitham's confession, But it also shocked him that Alhaitham apologizes with "I'm sorry", he never says that nor use it genuinely. It was always an "I apologize."

He is correct, Alhaitham struggled letting those words out of his mouth.

"I forgive you, Alhaitham. I'm sorry for letting my anger take over."

"No, it is not your fault. Don't apologize."

Alhaitham's hand reaches out, his fingers moving few strands of Kaveh's hair to the back of his ear. His thumb wiping Kaveh's tears away.

Kaveh embraces Alhaitham. His eyes full of tears, like a river.

He takes Kaveh's embrace and caressed his blonde, golden hair.

"It's fine Kaveh; let it out. I am really sorry."

"It's not about that. I forgive you already."

The moment when Kaveh cries for something, and even if it's already resolved, his mind will wander to another problem to cry about.

When Alhaitham realizes, he went quiet. Instead, he held Kaveh tightly in his arms, letting him cry on his shoulder.

"I'm here for you, Kaveh."
