"This is the beast," she said

Summary:

Augustine said, "thats a muffin."

Mercy is the Strategy-for-Engagement teacher, wowee!!

TLT holiday gift exchange TREAT for influorescence!

Notes:

honestly, i mostly traced the thing i wanted to ref because the original is already perfection and this was meant to be a teehee-fun-little-extra-treat.
but anyway, this is based on that drawing of that early 1900s botany teacher drawing, you know the one (allegedly from Kokkei shinbun in 1908 titled "The botany professor" but i couldnt find any sources confirming that even with reverse img search so i straight up cant say for sure, all ive got is this tumblr link that has the drawing i refd/traced: https://www.tumlook.com/maeribee/post/735276195118219264)

Work Text:

Digital watercolour drawing of Mercymorn from The Locked Tomb book series. Image is based on a drawing, allegedly from Kokkei shinbun in 1908, named 'The botany professor'. Mercymorn's peach hair is styled up in a gibson-girl-esque bouffant, she has a high-collared peach-coloured blouse, over which is a pearlescent white haori which, in turn, is tucked into a rust-coloured edwardian skirt. Behind her is a blackboard with a squiggle and a map of a section of the cosmos. Her eyebrows are furrowed as she is holding a pointer to the squiggle. Next to her is a speech bubble that, in Japanese, says 'This is the beast'.

Notes:

i also apologise for the wonky hiragana, i am not a japanese speaker and while i practised writing all of the kanas in their proper stroke order they are so so so far from perfect or even just 'sorta okay'. i just didnt want to leave that upper right corner blank cause thats where the text on the original image was and that book quote fits there perfectly. i felt like copy-pasting the text wouldnt have had the same feel/tone as handwritten text
