You and Zoro usually dont get mad each other a lot, thats cause usually you’re more rational, and quicker to lose patience for an argument. You always got over the leftover anger a couple days later, and ease back into your regular couple normalcy. However, this time the case was different. This time Zoro had really done it. After a tiring day of working out, you’d decided to talk to Zoro.
Only if you knew he was worked up previously. He was on the railing staring out to sea with a bottle of sake. “Its only 11 in the morning, whats the occasion?” You poked your elbow at him, making him choke briefly at you. “Nothin’..” he said a bit tipsy. You frowned taking the bottle, earning a hardening glare.
“Love, its too early. Wanna tell me whats up?” You tried holding his hand but he snatched it away. “I said it’s nothing. Leave me alone.” He brushed you off coldly. “This really isn’t like you Zo’, y’know bottling things up is just gonna—“ “God you don’t know when to stop. You just keep going, and going. Have you ever stopped and thought I just want to be ALONE?!”
You gulped and lowered your gaze whispering , “I just wanted to—“ “Ugh, this again, its all about you and what you wanna do. Its not about what you wanna do, take a good look around you. The world doesn’t revolve around you!” He pushed off the rail and walked away.
You were left dumbfounded at his behavior, your breath was caught up and you choked back a sob. “___?” You looked behind you to see Chopper looking at you worriedly. “I’m fine Chopper..Zoro just needs to cool off.” You forced a smile and decided to go into your room for the rest of the day to cool off as well.
And just like that, two days had passed and nothing of a word was spoken between you both. To say you were mad was an understatement, you were seething. Why would Zoro actually think he was right in this situation? You were only trying to help him, or maybe that was the wrong thing to do?
Your heart stung whenever he passed by you practically not even caring if you were there. It’s like you were a ghost, you hated this crumbling feeling in your chest. During a team meeting, you both weren’t beside each other, which made everyone notice the clear distance.
After the whole meeting, Robin took your hand and led you to her room to speak. “What’s up with the both of you?” She said sadly. You sobbed, “I dunno! I just—wanted to help him! Then he just started saying awful things and I thought he’d just cool off after a few days—but he’s walking past me like a ghost!!” You vented crumbling completely.
Robin rubbed your back in silent consolation. “And now! I have to suck it up and apologize when I’m right! It’s just fucking unfair!! God!” You tugged at her shirt. “Then don’t..I’m well aware of the arguments, you’re almost right in all of them. The swordsman is just being prideful. Keep your distance, it’ll only hurt him in the end.” Robin said cradling your face wiping your tears.
“Listen, why don’t me, you, and Nami do a girls night? We can talk, drink, relax, do makeup, whatever you want!” She smiled. You loved Robin so much, “Yeah! Why do I have to be sad and broody, lets do it!!!” You smiled wiping your nose.
That night you and the girls met up with stuff for the sleepover. Nami brought the wine, you the face masks, and Robin supplied makeup. The night was going great you all were laughing, talking about the silliest things from past adventures. Nami had suggested we start drinking and took the wine cups out and pour each of you a drink. “Ah~ This is great we need to do this more often. No boys to be disgusting and ruining the night.” Nami sighed out.
“Agreed, the past few days especially were hard on me with Zo..” You exhaled. “Oh yeah! I’ve been meaning to ask about that..why the tension?” She quirked a brow. “It’s just men being prideful, he does this a lot. At this point I’m distancing myself from him.” Nami gasped, “So are you both broken up..?” Your eyes lowered solemnly. “If thats what it comes down to…then that’s that.” You sipped your wine letting it swirl in your mouth.
“Awh don’t say that..he’ll come crawling back. One way or another.” She said cheeks flushed from drinking. Robin scoffed, “He definitely will. Chopper is really giving it to him right now.” Robin told you holding her ear out. Nami snickered imagining the small deer yelling at him. You sighed out feeling your face mask tug at your face. “Hey lets take these off, I wanna start the makeup!” You exclaimed excitedly.
The whole night went great, all three of you were glammed up nicely at the end. “This was really refreshing, thanks you guys for doing this..” You smiled. “We can do this whenever we want, this isn’t a one time thing __.” You nodded and gave both of them a hug before leaving to your room.
It was a few doors down by the staircase, opening your door you set down your face mask tools and stretched. As you looked in the mirror you saw how good you looked with light makeup. “Woah..” You were mesmerized at the sight of you. You decided to sleep with it on, you didn’t have the heart to take the makeup off.
Clicking the lights off you got under your sheets snuggling up in it. You feigned sleep as it felt off. Clearly the other side was empty, and it just made you feel more alone than ever. A tear escaped you, cupping your mouth you muffled a sob. You were silenced when a knock on your door was heard.
Thinking it was just one of the girls, you quickly wiped the tear and got up to answer it. “Oh.” You blinked immediately trying to shut the door. Zoro stopped the door and told you to give him a second. You hesitated, but complied too tired to try and argue.
The first thing Zoro noticed was how nice you looked. His heart thumped in his chest at the sight of you. The second thing was his light green sweater that you wore, which to his mind was cutely big. He smiled softly at you before holding your cheeks. Your hands found his wrists, as small tears pricked your eyes.
“Stop..don’t cry. It’s my fault, all of it.” He hushed you kissing your eyelids. Zoro was harsh with his words with you, but his actions always proved him wrong. But he wasn’t getting off easy. Pushing him back you furrowed your brows, “You kept ignoring me, for TWO! whole days. Y’know how much I set my pride aside to stop about half of our arguments. I can’t keep doing that, it’s bad for my mental. I was in the right this time, and you should’ve been apologized to me. It shouldn’t take Chopper for you to think!” You said crying.
Zoro clenched his fists, “I understand, thats my fault. I take responsibility for how I act..I know it was unreasonable to ghost you, and wrong of me to have even vent my anger onto you. I love you, and I never want to hurt you willingly. I’m just dumb and stupid, and I know that you deserve better than me. I pushed you away when you were only trying to help me..and I..” His voice cracked.
You pulled Zoro in closing the door for privacy. You sat on the bed, him next to you. “I should’ve never let you go to bed angry, or sad. I’m sorry.” He sobbed into your neck while his hand wrapped around your waist. You bit your lips comforting him, you knew he was trying and that he understood. “Can—Can we just please sleep together again. I hate when we do this.” You muttered against his forehead.
You laid against his chest hearing his steady beat, it quelled you. You both were like two missing pieces that just got lost for a second, only to click back in place. “I promise to get better at this.” He whispered into your hair. “Just..don’t hurt me. Please don’t scare me again..” You said into his chest.
His hands hand tightened onto your hip making you look up. His lips captured yours in a smooth movement. It was soft, his lips, the moment, all that he needed to do. Zoro wouldn’t dare hurt the very person that makes him whole. Breaking away he kissed the tip of your nose and pulled you impossibly closer to him.
His embrace assured you that you wouldn’t leave his arms. And you wanted it to stay that way forever.
