An Average Day for Hinata and Oikawa

Summary:

Hinata loved his life in Brazil, but it wasn't fully home. And as much as he missed Japan, it wasn't fully home either. For Hinata the only times he truly felt at home was when Oikawa came to visit. And for Oikawa, it was the same. They both cherished the days they could spend together in the off-season.

Notes:

This does not take place in a specific time, instead it jumps around a bit.
Also I know that Hinata ends up playing for Asas Sao Paulo, but this takes place in Rio. Mainly because I forgot about that until after I had wrote it.

Work Text:

Hinata loved his life in Brazil, but it wasn't fully home. And as much as he missed Japan, it wasn't fully home either. For Hinata the only times he truly felt at home was when Oikawa came to visit. And for Oikawa, it was the same. They both cherished the days they could spend together in the off-season.

In the mornings Hinata would cook them both breakfast after his sunrise run along the beach. And when he didn't feel like cooking he would stop at the corner store or bakery on his way home. Oikawa would wake up, at what he would still consider an unreasonable time, to the sound of Hinata in the shower. He would make his way to the kitchen half asleep and grumbling all the way. There awaiting him would be his breakfast and a fresh cup of coffee that he would hold like it was the most precious thing in the whole world. And there he would be sitting, all wrapped in his blankets when Sunshine incarnate would make his way into the room, mind racing about a myriad of things such as volleyball or how the two got to where they were.

Hinata came as a surprise to Oikawa. Same with Oikawa to Hinata. When they first met again in Rio they both had been having a hard time and were missing home. Luckily, they were able to find solace in each other. And after a while, the acquaintanceship they had had back in Japan grew into a great friendship. They hadn't been expecting it when that relationship had morphed again around a year later. One of Oikawa's teammates was getting married and he invited Hinata to the wedding as his plus one. It really shouldn't have been a surprise that they ended up in bed together considering the love in the air and the tons of wine Argentina is known for. The next morning the two had no choice but to talk about what happened and let out any feelings they had. Their relationship wasn't easy considering their distance and work. But Hinata and Oikawa loved each other and they made it work.

After breakfast, Oikawa would go for his daily run and shower while Hinata visited Heitor, Nice, and their children before they had to head to school or work. Heitor had been one of Hinata's first friends when he moved to Brazil. They quickly became very close and considered each other as a brother. Hinata was a groomsman at Heitor's wedding and is called Uncle Hinata by his children.

After morning their days are less consistent. Some days they go out shopping buying whatever they need or want within their budget. They do try to be responsible adults and save, not everyone makes as much money as Kenma. Some days they spend the whole day on the beach soaking in the rays, swimming in the water, and of course, playing hours of beach volleyball. Hinata isn't the best at just laying down and tanning so he decided to learn how to surf. Partly because it seemed fun but also so he could give Oikawa time to himself to relax. Other days they take turns picking excursions to drag the other on. They have an agreement that once a week each of them can pick something to do that the other has to say yes to. For Oikawa, these were going to spas or a whole day trip to Varginha "the Roswell of Brazil" to see a giant UFO. For Hinata this meant hiking, going for bike rides, and even hang-gliding. Pretty much anything outdoors or thrill-seeking are Hinata's go-to's. Then there are the excursions that are planned together. Usually, they involve going to see volleyball matches, as well as the occasional football match. While not as exciting to them as volleyball, they do enjoy them. Especially when Brazil and Argentina face off, they get really competitive. Then, of course, there are the days when they just laze around. Both love going out too much to say it out loud, but these are both of their favorite days. Oikawa loves cuddling on the couch with the man he loves and eating a huge bowl of popcorn while watching a sci-fi movie. Hinata doesn't care what movie they watch as long as he gets to hold and spend time with his favorite setter (shhh don't tell Kageyama).

Speaking of Kageyama, he was ultimately supportive of the two. But just be glad you weren't around him when he found out. Nishinoya and Tanaka, unfortunately for them, had been. They had decided Kageyama was being too antisocial and dragged him out when Hinata called. Since it was just Hinata Kageyama answered the call at the table. That was a mistake. All the while Hinata explained to his best friend how he had gotten close with and eventually fell in love with Kageyama's mortal enemy he remained silent. Nishinoya and Tanaka started to get worried when they saw the look of murder on their friend's face, but he didn't answer them. He didn't even say anything to Hinata before hanging up. Kageyama immediately called Oikawa and started yelling at him and insulting him. Then before he could respond Kageyama hung up and called Hinata back. He told him basically that he didn't like it but Hinata was still his best friend. The whole speech Kageyama gave is not shown here but it brought Hinata to tears. And he will be again years in the future after hearing Kageyama's best man speech at his and Oikawa's wedding. That night Kageyama will be happy for them. This night in the past, he wasn't. And poor Nishinoya and Tanaka have to deal with the aftermath.

In the evenings the two sit down for dinner. Sometimes they cook, usually when one of them wants to try a new recipe. On their lazy days, they get delivery and eat it on the couch or even in bed. Most of the time though, they go out. There are their regular restaurants they go to all the time. The owners and workers know them by name. Some even have signed pictures of them on their walls. After all, they are Olympic athletes. Hinata loves to try new food so they are always finding new places to eat. Oikawa used to be a lot pickier, but he can't resist Hinata's excited face when he wants him to try what he got. After dinner, the two would walk through the lively neighborhood, all the way to the beach. They would sit or stand in the sand, listening to the waves, and enjoying each other's presence. One of these very nights Oikawa will be listening to the ocean with his eyes closed when he hears his name called. When he opens his eyes he will find Hinata standing in front of him with a ring. And with no doubt in his mind will he say yes and promptly tackle his new laughing fiance into the sand.

And finally, at night Hinata and Oikawa lay down in bed together. Oikawa wraps himself around Hinata knowing the weight helps him fall asleep. Even though he knows how restless Hinata is even in his sleep and that he will probably get kicked or elbowed awake at some point. And every night before they fall asleep, no matter if they argue and are mad at each other, they say "I love you". Because for them that is the most important thing, that they love each other. It's what got them through long distance and hard times. It got them through those times When they really missed home. And soon they became each other's homes.
