Transcript from the video titled “Prongs on newest album, origin of his name & what’s next”

Interviewer: So first off, congratulations on My Love!

Prongs: Thank you! The response has been really great.

Interviewer: Because it’s a great album! So I wanted to ask, what was your inspiration behind this? Because there’s a really wide variety of topics you sing about here, so what ties it all together?

Prongs: Love. I mean, that’s the whole theme, really: I wanted to talk about different kinds of love. So in “Always,” for instance, I’m singing about how my parents have always been there for me. “Not Like That” is for my wonderful friend and manager Lily Evans― [He looks at the camera and smiles, throwing up a casual wave.] shoutout to you, Lily, love you! [He grins.] But not like that! [He turns back to the interviewer.] Uh, so yeah, love. That’s the main idea.

Interviewer: So how does your single “Black Magic” ― which is quickly making its way up the Billboard charts, by the way ― how does “Black Magic” tie into that?

Prongs: Well, “Black Magic” is about my best friend. I’ve talked about him before, I think ― this is the friend I pulled all those pranks with. I’ve been wanting to write him a tribute song for a while, but I could never find the words until I sat down and… this came out. He was actually the first person I ever showed one of my songs to.

Interviewer: No way! How’d he react?

Prongs: He almost woke up our dormmates with his screaming, then told me very seriously to remember him when I got famous. And then he made me promise that if I ever wrote a duet I’d let him sing it with me.

Interviewer: Sounds like a pretty good friend.

Prongs: He is! He learned about songwriting and music so he could give me better feedback, and whenever I started thinking my songs weren’t really all that good he aggressively sang my own lyrics at me until I gave up. 

Interviewer: That’s… certainly a strategy!

Prongs, nostalgic and clearly caught up in the memory: I think he was trying to be annoying ― like, annoying me into giving up, but the thing is he’s actually a really good singer. And I never told him this, but the reason I always gave up was because it is physically impossible for something to sound bad when he’s singing it, so he’d sing a lyric and I’d think, Huh, that isn’t terrible after all.

Interviewer: That’s simultaneously adorable, hilarious, and very sweet.

Prongs: Yeah, that’s him all over. The very first time we met, when we were all of eleven years old, he defended me against this guy who was insulting me. And I swear from the moment I saw him, we just… clicked.  I know that’s a cliché thing to say, but it really is true. That’s the magic I’m singing about in “Black Magic,” that out of the billions of people in the world, somehow I met the one person who made me… [He is visibly searching for words, his fingers tapping the table.] More? Better? I dunno, I can’t really describe it.

Interviewer: But “Black Magic” seems like a pretty sad song, right?

Prongs: Yeah, it is. Um… he disappeared when we were in fifth year. Never came back from Christmas break. I don’t know what happened to him. [He turns to look at the camera again, with no trace of his former levity.] Hey, Padfoot, if you’re watching this. Come home.

Interviewer: I’m so sorry about your loss. But um, if I might ask… Padfoot?

Prongs, with a soft smile: Oh, yeah, I forgot. We gave each other nicknames in second year! I called him Padfoot, because he walked really quietly, and uh, he’s actually the one who named me Prongs, ‘cause apparently the way my hair sticks up looks like I have horns. [The interviewer raises an eyebrow, and Prongs raises his hands in surrender, laughing.] Hey, we were twelve, we weren’t exactly the most creative people!

Interviewer: No judgement here! But then you chose that as your professional name.

Prongs: Yeah, I did. I’d just gotten my first gig and Lily was asking what I wanted to call myself and… I mean, it seemed obvious. I think it was maybe my way of having him with me.

Interviewer: Well, I hope you find him again.

Prongs: Thank you. So do I.

Interviewer: So uh, what’s next for you?

Prongs: I don’t know, actually. Going to enjoy My Love a bit, probably, and then go hole up in a cabin somewhere away from the Internet and start the next album.

Interviewer: Already?

Prongs: Yeah, well, I’ve got a few ideas.

Interviewer: Don’t suppose you can share?

Prongs: I’m afraid not; Lily would kill me. [Interviewer laughs.] You’re laughing, but she would.

Interviewer: Better not incur her wrath, then. Well, Prongs, it’s been absolutely lovely speaking to you, and congratulations again on My Love .

Prongs: Thank you very much, and thanks for having me.

Interviewer: Thank you for coming! [turns to camera] And go stream My Love now, available wherever you get your music.

Prongs: Bye!

my review of assassin’s heart (no spoilers):

• HOT HOT HTO THOTHOTT
• whoever put sirius black in leather thank you for your service
• just when i thought he couldn’t get any hotter he pulled out his knives
• i have literally never found a blood splattered man attractive before ever i thinhk sirius black just unlocked a new kink
• he really put the ass in assassin
• that scene in the dungeon (no not that kind of dungeon) (well technically) (WATCH THE MOVIE AND YOU’LL SEE)
• guys i promise i really tried to pay attention to the plot but he’s just too hot
• but the plot was good (bc it led to him getting beat up and dirty and spitting blood out of his mouth)
• gen srs tho it was a really good movie with some really good social commentary, which i wasn’t expecting bc fantasy. but i was crying at the end and i don’t usually cry at movies
• i know everyone’s like “sirius only gets cast bc he’s hot” and he IS hot but he’s actually a really good actor too. he’s the whole package. the whole cake if you will.
