Work Text:
The large kitchen table is completely covered with flour and all kinds of packets of spices and icing. Wonbin diligently sculpts the ginger dough, sticking out the tip of his tongue with zeal and checking the accuracy of the recipe on his phone. At the same time, the TV is chatting - on Christmas weekend, Wonbin likes to watch his favourite cartoons every year, even if Eunseok considers this activity completely useless. Snow swirls outside the window, softly falling to the ground in large flakes, and Wonbin wants to quickly finish preparing dessert so he can go outside and build a snowman. Eunseok should be back just in time for the gingerbread to be ready, and Wonbin can once again show off his culinary skills.
It’s a quarter to five when the front door silently opens, letting Eunseok in. He hangs his snow-wet coat on a hanger, changes into Pikachu slippers, and wanders into the kitchen to the smell of cinnamon and sweets. Wonbin is rolling out the dough at this time, completely immersed in the process, and does not notice Eunseok’s arrival.
"What are we watching?" Eunseok sneaks up behind him, hugging Wonbin and kissing him on the cheek.
Wonbin shudders, feeling warm breath and strong hands sneaking under his wide shirt. All his concentration disappears, and he smiles, turning to Eunseok and kissing him back.
"Shrek."
Eunseok rolls his eyes; he’s watched this cartoon so many times with Wonbin that he can easily duplicate all the characters’ lines. But Wonbin feels inspired and happy every time he watches it, and Eunseok can’t do anything about it.
"You smell delicious."
"These are all gingerbread men - I added cinnamon and honey to the dough to make it sweeter." Wonbin’s hands are still stained with flour, and he leaves marks on Eunseok’s cheeks, laughing.
"No, I'm not talking about cookies. Your smell has changed". Eunseok nuzzles Wonbin’s neck, inhaling his scent and trying to understand what has changed in his husband.
Wonbin fearfully rubs his neck, not caring that he might also get dirty, and then remembers the imminent approach of special days in his time as an omega. Eunseok pulls away, carefully examining his husband, and notices the fear in his eyes.
"Wonbin, is everything okay? Are you sick?"
"Well, I should be in heat soon... I can imagine that I’ll have to suffer on New Year’s Eve without getting out of bed..."
"Oh, how long has this become a burden for you?" Eunseok grins, kissing every exposed part of Wonbin’s skin above his shirt. "We spend all your heats together, and after these seven days, you look happier than ever."
"Well, almost,” Wonbin thinks, closing his eyes with pleasure, because he will definitely be the happiest when the fruit of his love with Eunseok develops inside him. Perhaps it is during this heat that they should try not using protection.
"Eunseok, I need to finish cooking these gingerbread cookies. And since you came home earlier, help me with the figures."
Wonbin gently pulls away, wiping his palms on his apron, and hands Eunseok a rolling pin to roll out the dough. Eunseok knows very well that Wonbin is quite strong (his biceps are hardly inferior to Eunseok’s strong arms), but still, every time he asks him to help open something or get something from the top shelves. This habit dates back to the times when they met and were an eyesore to their dorm neighbours, who dreamed that this awkward pair of alpha and omega would finally stop beating around the bush with their awkward flirting. Eunseok then plucked up the courage and cunning taught by Sungchan, and after once again opening a jar of sweets for Wonbin, he put a small surprise in it. There was no limit to Wonbin's surprise when, instead of a rustling wrapper with a jelly bear, his fingers found a velvet box with a wedding ring. That evening, Sungchan raised his hands to the heavens, thanking the gods of all faiths that his friends would finally move in together and stop teasing everyone with their flirting. Having learned about this plan later, Wonbin, in revenge, whispered to Anton, the object of Sungchan's secret love, how to properly win the attention of high alphas. Wonbin chose Anton as his witness at the wedding, and Sungchan was his partner, being Eunseok's best friend. After the wedding of friends, Anton became a strong presence in Sungchan’s life, and this became the best gift. Since then, they have been family friends, meeting on holidays, and Wonbin planned to treat his friends to gingerbread cookies for Christmas.
"Let's make a huge Gingerbread Man, like in the second part of the cartoon, and break it off piece by piece."
Eunseok rolls up the sleeves of his sweater as he moves closer to the table and assesses the scale of the culinary work. Wonbin shakes his head, taking out a set of moulds to cut out the dough - his plans are to make a lot of gingerbread and share it with friends, knowing that Eunseok is able to handle the finished dessert in a matter of minutes.
"Well, no, we need to make gingerbread men for everyone. From this piece of dough, there will be a large Eunseok, a slightly smaller Wonbin, and a very small-"
Wonbin stammers, feeling his cheeks begin to redden at the thought of future children. Eunseok catches his husband’s excitement; his inner alpha always senses the mood of omega because this is precisely the pairing created by nature. He takes Wonbin's hand, stroking his fingers softly, the tips tingling pleasantly as the skin touches.
"And very small Eunseok and Wonbin, whom we will keep as souvenirs so that our future kids can get their own figures."
Eunseok smiles, still holding his husband’s hand, and Wonbin looks at him with a sparkle in his eyes. His heart beats faster at the thought that Eunseok wants children too. In the end, they hesitated for a long time to talk about it, but on Christmas Eve, as we know, miracles always happen.
"Do you... really want it?"
Wonbin flinches when Eunseok stops holding his hand and comes close to him, cupping his face, which is flushed with embarrassment. Eunseok looks at Wonbin with all the tenderness and love that permeate his heart more than blood and kisses his soft lips. Kisses with Wonbin are always sweet, with the taste of his favourite jelly candies, and Eunseok can’t get enough.
"This time, I want to consolidate our union, not only with a mark." Eunseok runs his nose along Wonbin’s sensitive neck, whose knees almost give way to a languid whisper. "If you don't mind."
With excitement, their natural smells intensify, and thick honey is absorbed into the strong asphalt filled with gasoline. Wonbin nods his head, licking his lips, and allows Eunseok to hold him tighter.
"I want this more with every minute I spend with you. I think we should try everything this time of heat." Wonbin kisses Eunseok, not caring that they are both already covered in dough. "But first, we'll make these gingerbread men; otherwise, we'll have to watch Shrek again."
Eunseok laughs, pinching Wonbin’s cheeks one last time, and returns to their culinary mission. Wonbin ties a paired apron on him to prevent Eunseok from getting even more dirty, and the process of making cookies comes to life again.
Later, when the gingerbread men look exactly like Gingerbread Man from the cartoon and are cooling down on the plates, Eunseok and Wonbin are making snowmen in the yard, distracted by snowball fights and the sweetest kisses on Christmas night.
