Work Text:

After speaking with The Captain, I was dizzy from all that information - and also from the neverending darkness that surrounded us. I couldn't even tell if we were floating or just sailing in a sea of black. Then, before I could start making sense of everything, I heard voices.
There was a man's voice, and... a parrot's voice? It was imitating the man, and he sure sounded very irritated by it.

"Shut up!"
"Shut up! Shut up! Arr!"
"I'm going to kill you, stupid bird!"
"Arr, arr, I'm going to kill you! Kill you! Arrr!!"
"Aughghhh!!"

The man came stepping loud on the deck, making a lot of noise. He seemed very grumpy, but still, had some charm in him.

"There you are, bastard!" he approached The Captain with no fear. "Take this goddammed parrot away from me!" he shoved his arm against Captain's face, showing a long chain that tied him to the bird.
"Sigh. Moonblade." Captain sounded more bored than anything. "I already told you multiple times, if you want to separate yourself from your little friend, you need to actually make peace with your death."
"How can I have peace if this thing keeps imitating me?!"

The bird looked amused with his owner's(?) anger. It seemed to enjoy bickering with him. Though, when it noticed me, it started to smile even wider, the dark eyes sparkling.

"Arr! Arr! Pretty lady! Arr!"
"Huh?"

Finally, the man seemed to notice me. He wasn't very surprised, but had these brooding eyes, like someone who was tired of feeling fake hopes.

"Uhh... hi?" I said.
"Arr, Smiley, Smiley, Arr!" said the parrot.
"Oh, so your name's Smiley?"
"Arr! Arr!" it confirmed.
"My name is Astrid." I smiled, infected with the bird's happiness. Then I looked at the man. "And you must be Moonblade, right?"
"Leave me alone."
"Moonblade, Moonblade!" repeated the parrot. "Castaway from the Gray Harbor! Arr!"
"Shut up."

The Gray Harbor... It used to be a distant and prosperous harbor in the end of the West Sea. But then when the Pirate Golden Age started to enter a crisis, it turned into pieces, entering times of poverty and depression. So he was from there?...
Before I could ask anything, he just turned away, leaving with no other words. The parrot flapped its wings, flying not much high, but sufficiently enough to not lose me out of sight.

"Astrid! Astrid!" it repeated, disappearing into the darkness of the chambers.
"Bye!" I said, waving to it, a strange feeling that I would meet them again.
