Chapter 1: Package

Chapter Text

I open the window, the sun's rays shining down upon my black hair, as it appears hazel due to the light. My eyes seek something interesting, for this small town is not very fun. Entertainment here is scarce, for not many people even own technology here. My mother calls me to the pigs' barn, requesting me to feed them. I would decline, but this transfer of pork is the only reason we are alive. It is our only money source, slaughtering these pigs and giving them to greedy men. Greedy men that eat like the pigs themselves. Maybe what they eat reflects what they actually are. Wait, I shouldn't say that. We're literally far too poor to afford food other than stinking porridge from next door. Should I shake my problems off? My town isn't even known to the citizens of the next land. What if they think this is just a vast landscape with tiny houses that you cross by on a road trip? Will I ever be acknowledged for my writings? I refuse that to happen. My heart, no, my head, for people nowadays do not have hearts, will be full of glee if my books ever sell to fools that read it. I will be sure to make them cry in terror of such that I write. I think to myself, will I get to experience getting a mysterious fan-package from my avid readers?
