Chapter Text
Konoha bustled with energy from the beginning of the day to the end, hi’s and hello’s being spouted everywhere throughout the village. Everyone was happy, content with their current living situation.
All except Shikamaru.
Everyday was a chore to the young Nara. His head overloading with thoughts that he can't stop nor control, making his skull pound with hurt every second of the day.
His mother, Yoshino, worried about her little boy sleeping too much– more than an average Nara. And with her husband’s words unable to ease her worries anymore, brought her son to the clan clinic.
He was diagnosed with hyper intelligence.
Of course this confused her for a moment because weren't Nara’s already smarter than an average person?
The clinic doctor explained that it was more than that. Her son– who just turned 3 years old– was a tiny genius in the making amongst the Nara’s. His little head cannot take the amount of processes and thinking that his own brain is doing and tries to shut down, but fails, leading to constant headaches.
Coming back home, Yoshino sighed. How could she help her baby boy with all the pain he is going through.
The only thing Shikamaru could do was to go back to sleep. His pain easing up while he is in the plain of unconsciousness; an escape from his constant pain. An eternal blissful paradise of ignorance and dreams.
As Shikamaru grew older, his resistance to his migraines increased, much to his mothers relief. His body adjusts to his intellect, making moving around easier for him, but even then he still gets overwhelmed faster than his peers.
That was until he was enrolled into the academy.
