    They had both known that it might come to this someday - that their clandestine meetings and assignations would have to stop, and they would be forced to fully inhabit their public personas with each other until the Dragon either defeated the Dark One, or broke the world again.
    And it seemed that time had come.
    No more soft words, no more stolen kisses. They must play their roles to the hilt now, neither holding anything back, and trust that their love was strong and deep enough to be pulled from the wreckage when all was done.

     

    This takes place the evening following the battle at Falme. Reunited with Lan and struggling with overwhelm, Moiraine begins to process the events of the previous 24 hours. She and Siuan had a plan - how did it end so badly?
    The first chapter is Lan POV, the second switches between Moiraine and Siuan. Did I cry while I was writing it? Yes, obviously.
