Chapter Text

Basil shuffles on his paws uncomfortably. Underneath one of his arms is a file labeled 'Bugsnax'. A few days ago he got an invitation from Elizabert Megafig to come to an island called Snaktooth. His last few articles have been a flop but he's sure that this one will be the big hit that he needs. Basil just needs to get his boss on board with it too…

The elevator dings, opening its doors. The Journalist steps out and heads to his boss' office. On the way there, he runs into one of his co-workers, Jules Marmaberry (a black furred grumpus with one blue-gray eye and one green-gray eye).

"Hey! I heard that you got an invitation from Elizabert Megafig. Pretty big scoop, huh?" Jules smiled. Basil nods and pats the file, "I'm going to go pitch this to Clumby. Hopefully it goes well…"

"Well, best of luck to you! I'm going to go get coffee with Butterscott."

Basil nods as Jules goes to the elevator. Him and Jules have talked a few times to each other but not a whole lot. Basil had heard that her best friend disappeared and after that she struggles with opening up to others. Jules has told Basil that she's looking for her best friend. He promised her to keep it a secret from others.

The Journalist takes a breath, smoothing out his orange and cyan fur before walking into Clumby's office to pitch his idea.

It… didn't go well. Clumby basically yelled at him and didn't believe what Basil told her. But he set his foot down and decided to go anyways. Clumby thought of an idea. That if Basil can interview Lizbert and come back alive, he (might) just be able to keep his job.

Basil took it as a challenge and sets off to Snaktooth Island. But things don't turn out as he would have hoped…
