1537 Fire, cracking at the small sounds of water and movements. That was all heard in the quiet chambers of one royal servant. One whom Lancelot loved dearly. He oathed to stay by her side, no matter if the kingdom needed him. A knight fought for whom he loved after all.
“Lance…” Eira gasped as she attempted to use a bit of her strength to reach for him. Lancelot turned and took her pale paw, it was like a sword stabbing him in the back everytime he looked at his beloved. She was deathly sick and he could do nothing. He was helpless.
“I know my time on earth ends soon, my sickness will prevent me to be with you my love.” She spoke softly, continuing on “I know what type of warrior you are, and I know what type of man you are. Do not fret as I will continue to be with you. But somewhere else. My travels to the stars are not far…” Lancelot said nothing, yet there was a war in his mind. Was his soon to be bride seriously letting her illness win? “Eira…” He looked down, no man could tell what was going on in the warriors head. “Promise me Lance, that you will always remember me? Even if I don’t return? Even if I am a new woman? A new face? A new legacy?”
“A man would be a fool to forget a woman like you Eira.” He grunted, struggling to keep a straight face. He has taken so many lives, and has seen death of plenty of men. But… a part of him wished the stars would have taken him first. Not Eira.. placing his forehead onto hers, he sighed. “It wasn’t supposed to end like this, if I was aware I brought a—“
“how could you…? You’re immortal dear. You would have outlived me much later.” He shut his eyes, cursing at himself. Why? Why did destiny have to take the woman he wanted to marry? The woman he wanted to carry his children? The woman who… understood. He looked back up—
“Eira I—“ He froze at her stillness, and shook her to awake. “Eira..?” Her paw simply fell out of his hand, and he saw panic. “EIRA!!!!”

. . . .
2024 486 years after Eira’s death. “Another long day…” Shadow threw his officer gear on his sofa in irritation and slumped over. he hated it, he hated his life… this endless.. long.. life that he lived. Everything changed after centuries that his lover had died. Even if it’s been years, she still haunted his thoughts. Yet nothing much about him changed, during the 1700’s, he retired as a Knight in his kingdom and moved to America to start over. That of course meant a name change. Who would take him seriously with the name “Lancelot?”… it sounded silly. So he chose “Shadow”
As his eyes felt heavy and his thoughts consumed his brain. He let himself slip out of reality for just a moment to really think about his life. Life, it was supposed to be a hard but beautiful thing for a creature to experience. Yet they are given such a limited time in this universe. That’s how it’s supposed to go. Humans, pets, mobians, aliens, whoever was out there. They had lives, They lived their lives. Yet he has to suffer an endless life. He couldn’t die… he wouldn’t die. Even if most were scared of death. He ached for his.. so maybe one day… he would meet the one spirit he loved most.
It sounded pathetic but he couldn’t lie to himself, he was still hung over a girl who’s been dead for more than 400 years! Yet he never really had someone to stick around to really, get him together. And move on. And now he laid in his apartment, Working as an officer and just trying to live on, second to minute, minute to hour, hour to day, day to month.. month to year. It was a non stop cycle of his slow pathetic life, but what fun would he have?
“Please…” He whispered “Gift me something to live for, whether it be good or bad. It’ll give me something to do.” He called out, but he didn’t know to who. For crying out loud he was going insane… He sat up from his couch, itching the back of his quills on his head and just decided to head to bed. However from outside his window. The night sky was clear. Filled with with many stars. Yet one stood out.. a small twinkle shined from a star.. “One spirit whom walks the earth in a different dimension, shall be blessed to give more from thy old life” .
. . “It’s time to make a return.”
