Work Text:

Her bed is always warm now.

No longer empty and cold, as she’s no longer alone.

And for the first time in so long, her space is shared by someone whose company Sally adores. It’s not something she has to do for someone else, it’s not a chore or an obligation, and it’s not something she has to simply accept and keep up with. Not anymore, because those days are past.

The bed is no longer not empty because of obligation, but because she wants it to be filled. Because she wants to be close to the person currently resting next to her, making her feel so happy and content. Making her feel whole. Complete. Happy and excited, so warm and giddy. A million different words to describe the emotions rushing through her body.

For the first time in so long, in almost a decade and a half, Sally feels happy sharing a bed with someone else.

Sharing a bed with Paul.

It makes Sally feel sensations that she hasn’t felt in a long time.

A part of her had truly forgotten how wonderful and exciting it felt to be in love. To truly be in love, as she feels like her soulmate was lying next to her, happily gazing into her eyes as one of his hands cupped her cheek, giving her such a tender smile that made her whole body heat up from the subtle warmth as they huddled under the covers. A tangle of nude limbs so close together, simply watching each other in peaceful silence, enjoying the moment and having each other close as they enjoyed the preciousness of the night, basking in their afterglow.

Succumbing to the moment. Being here with him. Allowing herself to be happy, as she’s found love. A love that she treasured so.

Sally never thought that she would ever feel love like this ever again. Not since her youth when she had met Poseidon. But here was Paul in her arms, making her feel happier than she has ever been. Like he’s truly her other half, and the one she’s meant to stay with. Someone that made her feel so incredible, and so much like herself.

She wonders where he’s been all her life, when even after only a few months of dating him, it feels like she can’t live without him.

Simply imagining her bed empty once more makes her shiver with discomfort, as she can’t imagine not falling asleep either in Paul’s embrace, or by hearing his soft breathing as he dozes off right next to her, on his side of the bed.

Their bed, not simply hers anymore. He’s been here long enough to stake a claim on it too, especially with how often he comes over and stays the night. Sleeping in the same bed as hers, existing in the same space as her. Living together, side by side. Even if he officially hasn’t moved in yet, it already feels like he has, with Paul’s presence now a normalcy in her apartment. He’s here more than he’s at her own place, not wanting to be too far away from her either. Wanting to spend as much time with her as possible as well, as everything feels just right.

And Sally truly couldn’t complain at all, not when she was snuggled up in his arms, feeling his nude skin next to hers. So soft, her hand moving over some of his chest hair as she keeps gazing into his tender eyes.

She feels young again. So free, so in love that she would consider calling herself a hopeless romantic. She can’t get enough, not when meeting him feels like finding the final puzzle piece of her life.

Like they absolutely belonged together.

Sally loves him. She adores him. And she does it so strongly, never having enough as she always wants him close with her, always making it extremely clear to him how much he means to her. With both actions and words, so that he could see how much she really wants him around.

So that Paul would never doubt how much she loves him.

He plays with her hair, twirling some of her curls with her fingers. Giving her yet another smile while Sally feels like she’s about to melt. Such a soft gesture always made her succumb, making her flushed and red, like a happy school girl in love who felt everything so strongly that it was hard to concentrate.

It’s a little silly, feeling warm and flushed from the simple act of him looking at her so fondly when playing with her fair, or her whole body trembling whenever he took her hand in his, leaning in to place a soft kiss to her knuckles. It’s a little silly and ridiculous when she remembers they’re lying nude in their bed, enjoying the afterglow of something that could be described as a far more intense and intimate activity than simple hand kisses.

But that was the point. With the more raw forms of intimacy, she was just as passionate as him, succumbing to the moment as neither held back, making her feel so loved and so powerful, knowing just how deeply he craved her as well.

But with these little kisses, and the acts of fondness, she truly feels like she would burn up. Because she could truly see how deeply Paul adores her. How fond he is of her, not just physically, but emotionally as well. Adoring every part of her.

So how could she not blush when he was so sweet and wonderful to her?

How could she ever say no when he asked if he was allowed to stay the night? Rather, it was she who had told him that he was always welcome, because falling asleep in an empty bed without him felt dull now.

She loves sharing a bed with him.

He leans in, pressing a kiss to her forehead, the warmth spreading across her. There's such a sweet look of tenderness in his eyes.

"I adore you."

She adores him too. So, so much that her chest almost hurts.

"I adore you too."

She leans in in return, pressing a kiss to his lips.

Enjoying the moment.

She loves him.

And she’s so happy to have found someone to adore.
