“Harry?” Ginny said curiously, pulling him from his thoughts. He was sitting on her bed and she was resting on his chest. They had been sitting and talking together for the last thirty minutes before he zoned out.
“Sorry, got distracted” Harry replied.
Ginny frowned “Am I boring you?”
“No, not at all Gin,” Surprised that she thought she could ever bore him, in fact he was very interested in their last conversation. They had been talking about quidditch. Ginny chose the Chudley Cannons to win the World Cup like she did every year. “I'm just very easily distracted.”
Ginny's frown turned into a mischievous smile. “Well then i guess i'll just have to find a way to keep your attention”
“And how exactly do you plan to do that?”
“I have my ways” Suddenly Ginny was kissing Harry intensely. She had been doing that often. Ever since the war ended everything started feeling way more... secure, being close to death really opens up a million door when it comes to relationships. He felt as if Ginny was the first person he truly could tell everything and she wouldnt judge him in any way, even if what he said wasnt exactly good.
It wasnt as if Ron and Hermiones judged him, theyre his best friends after all. But he always felt scared of telling them exactly what he thought, especially because he could never tell if his thoughts were truly his or Voldemorts. They always told him to be careful with what he did, never be to confident on what he felt, because "it could be him". They taught him, even if it was unconscious, to not trust himself. But with Ginny he felt like he could always be honest, even back then.
He truly did love her.
He backed away from the kiss and pulled her into his chest. They stayed that way for a while. Ginny grabbed the book layed in the corner of her bed and flipped through the pages. Even if the war was over they all felt the need to keep defence books around just in case. He always read a few pages when he could. Even if Voldemort was defeated, there were still many death eaters on the loose, he was afraid that they might try to find him, so he always kept it. Better safe than sorry.
In this instance, the book Ginny was holding was "The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection" by Quentin Trimble. He had never read that one before and he found it laying around in the Weasleys basement a few nights ago.
While Ginny continued skimming throught the pages, Harry looked at her thinking about how lucky he was to have her around, not only as his friend, but as his girlfriend.
During the war, he made a desition that couldve changed their lives entirely. He broke up with her in a time where being together was needed the most, anything couldve happened in those months they were apart. At the time he thought he was making the right choice, he thought he was protecting Ginny. In reality he was putting her in more danger. He couldve lost her.
Gladly she was right there, still looking at the book. He felt a warmth in his chest, a few words he had been feeling for a while now burst into his mind. He wanted her to know. She was loved.
"Hey Gin.." He whispered.
Without looking up at him she responded "Hmm.."
"I love you"
Suddenly there was quiet. He could feel her body tensed against his. She looked up at him, face to face. Looked into his eyes for a second. And kissed him even more fiercely than before. "I love you, i love you, i love you..." She continued.
He had never been more happy than right now.
