Raised voices echo through the walls of Keito's bedroom. The house itself is crying.
"Mamiya... Why do adults have to fight?"
"Fighting isn't always bad, you know. They really care about making the right choice in raising you."
"But they used to get along so much more. I don't like being the reason for their arguments."
In the moon-blue lighting of the night, Yumehisa's nonexistant heart aches for the boy sitting in front of him, hugging his knees to his chest. It's rare for Suou to wake up in the middle of the night. The yelling managed to interrupt their dreams, and now they're left with facing the uncomfortable reality.
"Dad didn't tell me 'have a good day' before he left for work this morning. He always does it, but not today."
God, what is he supposed to say to that?
Yumehisa reaches out to pat Keito's bedhead, but his hand is shaking. He sees it pass invisibly through Keito's skull and affect nothing.
"We'll never fight, will we?"
"Of course not. I'm always on your side."
