Gerard knew that Lindsey had hurt Mikey. And yet, he still declared his love for her and associated with her social group–as though nothing had happened.
It felt like a betrayal to Mikey, whose brother was always ready to come to his defense if anyone else did this. Furthermore, Mikey, among others, had witnessed the condescending way Lindsey would talk down to Gerard; and Gerard often brushed it off, telling anyone of his concern that she would “apologize later.”
For now, all Mikey can do is ignore her, grimacing uncomfortably whenever he endures the sting of her typical demeaning remarks.
