Chapter Text

Loud skittering.

That was all Scarlett could hear.

It was all the Floor Squad had heard for… almost an hour now.

Yes, their small (the house was nowhere near small) house in the middle of nowhere was chaotic, and did indeed contain a lot of loudness, but they’d never dealt with one of Floor’s… episodes…?

When they’d found Floor out in the woods, they’d been a little shocked at the fact that Floor was basically a creature. They’d been expecting the author to at least be a little more human like…

Not like, a giant lizard-like creature with some severe mental issues.

They had a human-ish body, but Scarlett was sure that their fics had influenced how their being had come into existence.

The Web was weird sometimes, doing that.

But, Floor had also brought together a community, nurtured it, cherished it, took care of it even. It impressed Scarlett, if she was being honest.

But hearing that loud skittering was going to drive her insane.

Floor had been, well, in the floorboards for an hour now, skittering about and hissing at anyone who came near. The only one who had managed to tame them so far was Kayeee, and they had had to go out for a bit.

Which left Scarlett, Ty, and Meara to deal with this chaos.

Meara had been encouraging it for a bit until Floor had nearly bitten her finger off, and Ty had been trying to coax them out of the floorboards for a bit now.

Which uh…

Was kinda working?

It was difficult, to say the least.

Floor was peeking out occasionally, staring at the bites of food (or fic, if you wanted to get technical), and analyzing the situation while Scarlett and Meara watched.

“Floor, I don’t have all day, please, come out of the floorboards…”

The creature stepped forward, staring up at Ty before slowly reaching for the food, before violently snatching it, almost as if someone would’ve taken it from them if they hadn’t and standing up, biting it aggressively.

Ty held back a whoop.

“Cool, let’s get you to bed, clearly you haven’t been sleeping.”

Floor blinked slowly, and then screeched when Ty somehow lifted them off the floor. They fought as Ty heaved them up the stairs, and Scarlett watched as they were thrown into a room, and the sound of a crash.

“DAMNIT FLOOR-”

“You think I can get them to eat rocks.”

“Meara, no.
