“Rae? Are you listening?”
“Huh.. yeah, yeah.”
I’m out of it today huh? I’ve been working hours on end trying to heal those who were affected by the Demon Queen or I guess, the original me. Figuring out that I’m not actually myself has made me in my own head I guess. Not to mention all the reconstruction I need to help with in the mountains. The agriculture has really fallen due to the explosions. I’m just so tired. I don’t want to talk to anyone and just relax—
“Rae!”
My thoughts gets interrupted by Miss Claire’s voice. She stares at me with a disapproving look with a hint of worry.
“Were you even listening? It feels like we don’t talk as much anymore.”
“Well I wonder why,” I coldly shot back.
Why did I say it like that?
“Rae-“
“Miss Claire, I have a lot on my plate right now.”
“Oh.. okay then..”
I start walking past Miss Claire over to our couch and laid down. Without having another thought about how I talked back to my wife, I slowly drift off to sleep.
“Rest well, Rae.”
I hear Miss Claire whisper above me while kissing my forehead. A sea of guilt washes over me.
“Looks good, Rae! The others and I will finish up. I heard that the church is calling for you to help with aiding the citizens. Make sure to get some lunch too!”
“Thank you. I’ll be back tomorrow. And I’ll see what they have in town.”
Man, I’m exhausted already.. All of this work is making me miss my academy days. And.. Oh. Miss Claire. I acted cold to her the last few days huh.? Maybe when things are over I’ll bring her to a nice wine and dine restaurant.
I reminisce to myself as I walk down to the church. Forgetting to eat.
“Rae! Could you get these patients as well?”
“Yup, yup.”
I cast my wand onto the sick patients like i did hundred times before.
“All right. You guys feeling better?”
“T-Thank you Miss Taylor.”
“Thank you so much.”
I give a thumbs up and hear my name being called again.
“Rae, I think you’re done here. It’s getting dark already. The nuns and I got it covered.”
“Thank you. I’ll be back again tomorrow.”
I take a deep bow and walk back towards Miss Claire’s and I’s humble house.
“Ahh, if Ralaire was here I would’ve gotten her a snack. I guess she’s still with May and Aleah,”
May and Aleah are with Master Dole right now for the week. I needed some rest from the kids due to all the work. I’m glad he took them for the week, because I am exhausted—
“!”
“W-Welcome home, Rae,” Miss Claire says to me but I didn’t hear her words.
I open the door seeing a welcoming Claire. She was wearing a naked apron. Technically not naked since she has her undergarments underneath but still. I could see her curves and oh my god.. My jaw dropped to the ground and my face turned fully crimson.
“A-ah wh-what?? Miss Claire?”
“Uhm.. would you like a bath, a meal or—“
“Or you?!” I finish her sentence with ease.
“A-ah I w-want you. I mean- yes.”
“Oh so you’re finally in a good mood?”
Oh so thats what this is about?
“Yes, Miss Claire. I am sorry for being distant.”
“So you forgive me?”
“You did nothing wrong, Miss Claire. But of course! If one’s wife did this for them they should be really grateful!”
“So you like it.?”
I take her waist and give her a deep kiss.
“I love it,” I chuckle.
Miss Claire blushes and looks away. Cute..
“Did you eat anything today?”
“No, don’t worry, Miss Claire. I’ll cook us something tonight.”
“Should I help?”
“In that outfit? No. You’ll get burned.”
“Should I take it off—“
“No.”
Absolutely not.
I put my coat over her, “Don’t catch a cold though, okay?”
I cook us dinner and later that night.. well that’s for next time.
The next day, I happily did my work and ran home with a big grin on my face.
“I’m home!”
