Work Text:

Orion steps up to Rahmet like he were a wounded dog. Hurt, but ready to bite. They still have their sword drawn, pointing it right in Rahmet's face. It's meant to send fear but the shake in their hand ruins the illusion.
"Listen to me, boy!" They practically command him, they speak loudly and call him 'boy' as if they aren't only a year older. But there's desperation hidden too, and if Rahmet would only listen closer, he'd catch it too and know. Instead he grimaces at the nickname - what confidence has Orion grown? "You will die!"
Rahmet laughs, loudly, mockingly. Oh boy, were they here to kill him? Has their confidence become stupidity? "Fool." He spits, grinning. "One can't kill a star, my friend." And Orion swears they can see something twinkle in his eyes. And.. No. It is not confidence nor stupidity that nestles inside they.
They swallow, regain their confidence. "Your name." They simply say.
"What about it?" Rahmet cocks his head to the side. Most wanted, Rahmet? Is that what they're speaking of? Lord, he knew it was a dangerous job but come on.. Orion knew better.
"...Rahmetlija." They jester with the sword to emphasise the word, but as foreign as it is to Orion, it's even more foreign to Rahmet.
"Is your memory slipping?" He asks. "After all these years, you begin to forget my name?"
Orion's grip around the sword tightens and they furrow their brows. What was he talking about? Rahmet was known for tricks.
"No, Rahmet," Orion clarifies. "You know what this word means, right? Rahmetlija?"
"Orion, don't play tricks." He stands up, and the sword follows him, tracks his heart.
"I am not playing tricks. I am here to save you." But Orion didn't look it. Their stare is frustrated beneath their helmet, and they are quite literally seconds away from stabbing him.
"Oh, of course." Rahmet rolls his eyes. "Now you are."
"Do you know what this word means?" Orion repeats themself.
Rahmet takes a moment, tries to study their face and understand. "No, I do not. Will you let me go now?"
"But, the prophecy."
"What prophecy?"
"You must know your prophecy."
Rahmet looks impatiently at them. "You mean those constellations?" He asks. "Naïve as always."
"What? No, believe me." Orion says. "They're true. I mean surely you must know my prophecy? Orion. The hunter."
"Orion, anyone is stupid to believe in that." The star child spits.
Cassiopeia's words ring through his head. "You think bearing that sword will take you off the course of your fate?" And Orion wonders if they should stop. Accept their fates. No, no. They couldn't.
