Ana hugged her blanket as she ran down the hallway, it dragged on the floor as the girl, in her small pajamas, ran down to Cricket’s door. Cicada and Kat were still out, so she and Cricket tried to sleep early, but the small girl got startled by the loud noise from outside of the heavy rain, the branches constantly moving, scratching against the outside walls of the home and freaked her out. She held a cat plushie in her other hand, before pushing open a door slowly. In the room lied two beds, one was empty, which is usually where Cicada had slept. The one on the right had a boy who sneezed, his black hair was a mess as he sat up and stared at Ana.
“Ana…?”
“Cricket…” She sniffled and rubbed his eyes, Ana’s eyes were filled with tears as she stood next to his bed. She stared into the teenagers eyes as he finished rubbing them. His allergies were kicking in, and it was ruining his sleep, but luckily they may turn down due to the rain. “I had a nightmare…”
“What…?” The teen pulled the child onto his bed, and yawned, he was extremely tired, but did not mind checking in on Ana, she was family. “Do you wanna talk about it?” She nodded before hugging her blanket tighter,
“There was a- a… Monster… and- And… He ate Kat!” She rubbed away some tears as Cricket frowned, and pulled the girl into a hug,
“Heyyy shhhh…” He then lied down on his bed and looked at the girl who was sitting, she lied down next to him as he smiled,
“Kat is too strong to be eaten by a monster-“ he began before sneezing, “she- *sniff* she would kick his butt! Plus i’m here, and so is Cicada.” Ana nodded a bit, but burst into little giggled as Cricket booped her nose, he always knew how to cheer her up.
“Yeahh… Can I sleep here?”
“Sure Ana.” The boy pulled his blanket over her, then placed her own blanket over her as well. He placed her stuffed cat in between them, before a big bang of thunder could be heard which made the small girl yelp. Cricket frowned, before pulling her into a hug,
“How about I hum a tune for you… So you cant hear it?”
“Yes please…” Ana begged, the teen began to hum a tune, a calm one. That did help her as her eyes began to get heavy, the noise outside could barely be heard by his humming, it was soft, it was like her troubles could slip away just for a moment. Her eyes shut as the humming looped for her, and felt Cricket tucker her in before he turned to the iver side of the bed, but he still hummed, over and over again. It was a tune she’d never forget, it’s a memory she’d never forget.
