Chapter 1: introduction to ouroboros

Chapter Text

Story

A mutation that has been growing steadily since the beginning of the Ouroboros universe is reaching its final stage of corruption. Those afflicted with the mutation are granted otherworldly abilities, and are used to defend against Pronox… but those who abuse their powers become Pronox themselves. This, however, does not apply to the Gods – once a God is afflicted, they die.

The people don't know that their Gods have fallen.

And they need to be replaced. To restore order. For the good of the people. To prevent history from repeating itself.

This year, the Tournament of Scholars will be held. Select students from each region battle using their knowledge and powers gained from the mutation they were cursed with, and use them as blessings. Those who survive will rise as heroes of the Ouroboros – but the winners must survive one final test, a test that can grant them ascension to godhood and replace the dead Gods.

The clock is ticking, and the end of the Ouroboros is near. Without Gods, without heroes, and without truth; the snake will choke on its own tail.

About the Schools and Headmasters

To train those with the mutation, special schools were constructed by the Gods, and were assigned Headmasters. These trusted leaders of the schools were granted immortality by the Gods themselves.

Although a Headmaster's relationship with a God spans generations, tensions arise when the mutation starts to present itself as a danger to the universe. Opinions and ideals begin to clash when the Gods are powerless and useless to protect their people from the mutation, and the Headmasters have to deal with these consequences as the direct leaders of their region.

About Sanium and the Pronox

Sanies Agonium, or better known as Sanium, is a mutation that grants mortals otherworldly abilities.

The rate of which children are born with the dangerous mutation has been increasing as the years pass. When it was realized that these children were given special abilities thanks to Sanium, it was decided that they be used for destroying the common Ouroboros enemy: the *Pronox .

What the mutated people don't know is that those who abuse their powers to a certain extent are transformed into Pronox, the very thing they fight. Perhaps, unknowingly, the Pronox they kill are people they once met.

*Singular noun: Pronyx
