“It’s just a party. I’ll pick her up at ten.” Charlie said, his nose peaking up from his laptop at Nick’s displeased grunt. He sounded like an unamused dog.
“It’s not about how she will come home. I don’t trust it will be a safe environment. We agreed on no mixed parties until she’s old enough.”
“I trust her to make the right decisions.”
“It’s not her I don’t trust. It’s the boys.”
“They will be supervised by Sarah’s parents, it’s a birthday party not a rave. I think it’s a great opportunity for her to gain some independence.”
“I know what sixteen year old boys are thinking!” Nick exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice. Charlie smirked at his husband’s frustration.
“What, because you were one yourself?” Charlie amusement could be heard in his voice.
“Because I dated one.” Nick countered. There was a slight silence between. A laugh left Charlie’s slightly parted lips.
“Maybe you’re right about that. But she’s almost an adult. There won’t be any alcohol, and she can always call us if she needs us.” Charlie told him. Nick didn’t seem convinced. “Besides. We can always peek through the windows to make sure they’re behaving if that makes you feel better.”
