Work Text:
Zagreus stuck his tongue out at his father’s empty desk.
‘Hello, boy,’ he said, scratching Cerberus behind the ears of his leftmost head.
Cerberus whuffed into his hair.
Zagreus took the opportunity of his father’s absence to throw his arms around Cerberus’ neck, snuggling into soft red fur. Cerberus bent his head to Zagreus’ back and pulled him in closer.
‘Am I wasting my time?’ Zagreus whispered into the dampening fur beneath his cheek.
Cerberus, unsurprisingly, didn’t answer. Zagreus stood, soaking in the comfort of being held until his knees started to seize and he heard his father’s footsteps returning.
